I wouldn’t mind the new trends if the old products were still available. My problem is that brands are discontinuing products that came out a couple years ago to make room for the new stuff. As a black girl, I LOVE the color brown for my lipsticks and lipglosses, and literally some of my favorite brown lip glosses were discontinued this year to make room for the new collections of five shades of pink🙄

Brown lip products are so beautiful. It’s almost like a red ( it’s in brown)lipstick considering I honestly think everyone has a shade of brown lipstick that looks great on them. Regardless of whether it’s used as a neutral or a contrast. We all have seen the usual lipstick color families( pink , red, coral, peach, orange, mauve, brown). Honestly the range can be awesome if they don’t keep discontinuing whole colors at a time. Like pink is cute yeah but so is brown. I personally want a lipstick that matches my natural hair color ( which is brown/red) with a creamy consistency. Why they can’t just keep the classic colors and add to them I don’t understand.

Like, when Bobbi Brown started Jones Road for example, I was like 'Oh hey, that's cool', because while I know nothing abt her, it's interesting to see the new direction with more creative control. But people have been boycotting Too Faced for *years* bc the founders are notoriously problematic. Do they think a new brand without the backups of their previous core products is gonna change that?

One thing about the "expensive hairdryer discussion" though... some girls spend $500 on makeup & skincare products at Sephora over the course of a few months, sooooo.... is it really that different from someone investing in a hairtool that lasts for years and that has the (unique) technology to style your hair while reducing heat damage on it? It's still expensive don't get me wrong, but I dunno, I just think it can be put into perspective in comparison to other shopping splurges.

I am so tempted by this one. I don't like using most sunscreen because of the smell. It feels like a chore similar to cleaning the toilet. I think the whipped cream foam might change the way I view sunscreen, leading to me using it more often. Right now, it is the least consistent part of my skincare process. As it is, I often decide that I don't want to smell the sunscreen, and I bypass putting it on, even though I know I should be wearing it.
It's funny. Few people talk about the scent of the sunscreen when they review it. They talk about whether it has a white cast But they don't mention how strong the smell is.
If I knew which ingredient causes the smell that I really don't like, I could look for brands that don't use it. I know there have to be sunscreens that don't smell like that because I have used several tinted moisturizers and foundations that have sunscreen. They don't have that weird smell. I know that foundation with sunscreen is not enough. So I think maybe doing something fun and a little silly with this foam might break me out of my negative Loop. :-)

I work in a beauty e-commerce so I always look at trends and brands, performances, etc.
I think at this point, they just repeat what’s selling in the market. They know it works, so they won’t gamble. The competition is tough but if they can offer better price positioning, stronger marketing strategies, it could work and way less risky than completely innovating a new product.
For example, ELF is killing it with dupe. Yes they dupe HARD but stronger marketing strategies, better prices and good formulation make it work. I think their financial performance was killing it last year.

I understand why Polite Society released the products and shades that they did - because that’s what are trending, and they want to sell their products. The blush is, according to the brand, a powder blush in a stick form.
I agree that we are seeing brands releasing the same things, because that’s what most people are buying.
Same goes for Hailey Bieber. She has done so many “ blush looks “ go viral, so why don’t release her own blush and make some money. Celebrity brands tends to have a shorter lifespan, so why not strike while the iron is hot! 💕

Just an FYI that too much niacinamide may also trigger skin breakout to sensitive skin. I know that oftentimes skincare ingredients in makeup products do not absorb really well into the skin, but nowadays since many things include them just beware. For me, 5 to 10 percent niacinamide is enough for my oily skin.

It is SUPER pigmented and I feel like it doesn’t blend out the easiest. Perhaps I’m using the wrong brush.
