Great idea. I never enjoyed driving up to Diablo to go camping. It has been a very dangerous situation.

It would be great if bike lanes can be made. Many of our roads are too dangerous, narrow for bicycles and vehicles. Especially mountain roads.

They need to install K-rails on the center divide around the curves. that's the only way to keep stupid drivers from passing.

Weird you don’t hear about these bicycle accidents on Mt. Tamalpais as much? Where there’s just as many cyclists and cars..

I’ve been biking up Mt. Diablo for over 25 years. Sadly, I have to admit the majority of the accidents involving cyclists was the fault of the cyclist. It occurs around blind corners with the cyclist traveling down the mountain at a speed well over the 15-20 mph limit. Due to that speed around the corner, the cyclist veers too far to the middle of the road or even crosses the median, when the cyclist should stay as far to the right as possible.
Trust me, I love riding down Diablo on my bike and on the straightaways, I’m hitting speeds of close to 40 mph. But when it comes to the downhill blind curves, I brake well in advance and keep the speed under 15 mph.
I’m 100% for these new safety measures, but the cycling community needs to step up the awareness on riding down the mountain safely.

Throughout the globe, car-driving isn't normalized, only in the US. There are almost twice as many bicycles around the world as cars. Bicycles were here before cars, and they'll be here after cars go away again.

Have any of these cyclists advocates ridden a motorcycle in their life? You do not stay to the right, so far out that you are out of sight and out of mind.
I'm a long time cyclist and I just take the lane, give it away when necessary to have motorists pass, it's a dance and it doesn't have to be this complicated, just take the lane.

As a lifelong mountain resident (60 years), prohibit bikes on roads. There are so many alternative dirt trails. To be safe, a car needs to drive 2 mph, which I do not think is realistic.
These roads were not built for bikes, just autos.
    Let's all be safe.
A bicyclist in the auto lane on I think bonny doon Rd caused a car to swerve into an oncoming auto head on collision with other auto driver. One driver fatality. Please, stop this on road bicycle madness on these narrow mountain roads.
A little pleasure for bicyclists that could be alternatively on trails is causing traffic problems and accidents.
I often drive highlands before slide too and have seen bicycle riders in middle of road, dangerously racing down, not thinking autos, trucks, and large wide diesel trucks (water, propane delivery) travel that road.
Multiple times I have seen bicyclists on hwy 17 between Lexington reservoir and LG.
Please please let's all be safe.

How will you get all your "Amazon deliveries", construction workers trucks, propane deliveries, septic pumping trucks, tree workers trucks and equipment, transport for the elderly and disabled, etc to the residences. This is the point. These are residential roads, not bike paths. Some locations in the USA have transformed old railroad lines into miles of paved wide bike and walking lanes so there is a separation of autos from bikes. Let's all work together to be safe. ☮️

We have every right to the road as motorists. Stop driving on these roads if you don't like it. Many of the roads were here and cycled before cars existed, and will be bicycled after motorists go by way of the dinosaurs.
