My pick would be This Way Madness Lies. I've been a fan of Zeboyd since the Xbox 360 Indie Game days, and I also have a fondness for Shakespeare so this was the perfect marriage. You had the best pick with Transistor! I know SuperGiant is pretty well-known now thanks to Hades, but Transistor is my favorite of their games hands down and I rarely run into people who know it. Love the tactical gameplay, the heart-wrenching story, the gorgeous art direction, and above all the MUSIC. I listen to "We All Become One" probably every other day.

Gravity Circuit is a MegaMan like game and that game plays amazing as well.

One indie game that is far too overlooked is Citizens Unite: Earth X Space. It is a release of the Earthbound inspired Citizens of Earth and the Paper Mario inspired sequel Citizens of Space. But this isn't just a collection of the 2 games. Instead it combines them narratively with quests that require you to swap between both games for new items, bosses and citizens to recruit. Never have a seen such a unique rerelease of 2 fantastic indie games, combining them into one.
All the cool homies showed up for this one xD A lot of new stuff has mysteriously been added to my wishlist, how did that happen? Also, sadly, Dragonborne is no longer available for purchase on the Steam store :(
Only 3 of the games recommended pique my interest. RPG,s are a very niche genre as is. So people's choice in what they like to play is very very subjective. Its good seeing that Tark is still around. Its been a few years since I've seen any of his videos show up in my recommends.
Normally I view "best indie game" as damning something with false praise. That being said when an indie game is good enough that it gets an actual release I do take notice. That being said I would probably say Sea of Stars since that's the only Indie game in my collection. (edit: turns out I also have Ara Fell I may need to play that) I may pick up Chained Echoes if the game ever actually comes out.

Honestly Sea of Stars was such a disappointing game for me, game has a strong nostalgia feeling but with no depth, the combat is pretty stagnant and there is pretty much no character progression so the rpg elements feel pretty shallow with no much variety since the start all the way to the end of the game. The story is also pretty awful and the characters are really plain. Still really loved the video and there are some really great picks and some I'm gonna try as soon as I get my hands on them.
It's heavily inspired by Earthbound (and apparently Brandish). It has random encounters, partially turn-based battles and leveling up so it's at least similar to one.
