Thanks for watching, and feel free to leave any game suggestions in the comments :)
Nah, it is confirmed Chinese spyware/data thief. No shade to Yak, but it is how it is and he needed the money as any proper RUclipsr.
You should play Iconoclasts
The bullet hell titles here reminded me of the Textorcist, and if you want a really unique gaming experience, I recommend you give it a shot.
The puppet made it more than just an advertisement. Thank you.
Gnosia is a weird ass social deduction rouge lite visual novel thing. Peak fiction
Thank you for mentioning CrossCode, it's an all time favorite of mine but very few people talk about it, especially those with a bigger audience.
CrossCode is so fucking cool
I gotta get back to it
kinda similar to this game i played called wizard of legend
CrossCode is my number 2 game of all tine, obly because I'm better at Hollow Knight and that makes me feel better.
My third favorite game of all time 💙
CROSSCODE MENTIONED!!!🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much for including Picayune Dreams! That was a perfect summary for anyone new to the game!
AND the team is hard at work on the first major content update :)
The story is already complete. So now we're paying back the support we've received by giving fans *more*!!
Omg hi dead estate ppl!!!!
Omg MORE?!?! Thank you SOSOSOSOSOOOO MUCH I LOVE THIS GAMEEEEEE
Picayune Dreams is so underated.I can't wait for the update!!!
OMG YESSSSS! I love Picayune dreams I can’t wait to see what you all have in mind for the extra content
Saw Picayune Dreams in the thumbnail, had to see if anyone was giving it love in the comments. Great game, glad that I got to support a friend's game!
God, i remember Crosscode making me bawl my eyes out at a specific point in the story, such a great game
Was it the "clearing the air" in the jungle? Cause that was what cracked me
@@agameofluckyhit9162 *Spoiler for chapter 8*
It was in the jungle after the first Raid where Lea got snagged, when Lea meets with C'tron and Emilie
@@agameofluckyhit9162
That's a close second, THAT cry and hug though was the one for me
Oh boy you would *love* oneshot then
That jungle cutscene its... its just too much to handle
CrossCode is like if Phantasy Star Online was Offline, Single Player and it was really good.
Funny enough I played through and finished CrossCode and then got into PSO2 with the Steam release just a month after, so coming fresh off that my first character was Lea
@@DrakoxRising Based
@@DrakoxRising It was the opposite for me but man was I surprised at how much Crosscode reminded me of PSO2, especially some of the tracks. Two amazing games in my opinion (not NGS)
CrossCode is in my top 5 all time faves. The story is hype, atmosphere nailed perfectly, the soundtrack slaps, the combination of action and puzzles is everything I love about video games. One of the most unique games I ever experienced, you can see how passionate the devs are about every aspect of it. And it was made on HTML5! I really need to replay it in the future as I didn't play the DLC yet, since it came out, and I'm so excited about Project Terra.
Dude the dlc is sick you gotta try it
CROSS CODE IN THE THUMBNAIL! WOOOOOO!
👍
Woooooo
One of the best games ever made frfr
Crosscode AND Void Rains Upon Her Heart mentioned? Christmas must’ve come early because those are two of my favorite games and I’m always so happy to see them get attention
AND RAIN WORLD?????? must be my bday too
its rainworlding time
Rainworld is awesome. The soundtrack is so good, and the different characters added with downpour are all unique, and feel great. I have also never in e gotten to pebbles the ‘intended way’ since I didn’t know the gate to get into his structure even existed. I just climbed up the wall every time.
Five pebbsi
@@Kompoteek😂😂
catboy pebbsi my beloved
Rain world pebbsi 👍
Pebbsi? 🥹
i ABSOLUTELY ADORE the ad-plushie and will watch EVERY SINGLE SECOND of his screentime, everytime
Crosscode is my all time favorite game and it makes me so happy to see it featured here
I am currently starting Rain World, and despite the amount of frustrations I've heard about, it's surprisingly both chill and intense as HELL. The moment a predator or the alarm for the rain comes, my mind goes into panic mode. But for some reason it's super satisfying to get out or learn from the scenario. I know it's the 'Dark Souls' of 2D platformers, but dang it's super chill.
trust me man keep playing its SO GOOD!
I really love the art style and how the ecosystem works, even it's horrifying and brutal. I'm looking forward to seeing what it offers. :)@@jazzerdazzle5958
Rain world is the best, and even if you find it gets really tough (which is very possible) it’s totally worth it, so keep going 😆
How is it soulslike 😭
Rain world is not a souls-like game😅.
YEEEEEEEEEES CROSSCODE IN A YAKKO LIST
The Void Rains Upon Her Heart deserves way more recognition than it has, the dev is super passionate with too much content and love put into it, amazing game
I disagree. I haven't played it yet but I've seen how toxic the dev is in response to negative feedback that was nothing but constructive.
@@thebigdawgj there's 6 negative reviews compared to 1135 positive, where do you see these dev responses?
@brands2k7
Unfortunately, the one in particular I remember seeing was from approximately six months ago and is no longer there, I went to check shortly after posting because I wanted to attempt to copy the thread.
I think the dev complained about it to get it removed or something.
@@thebigdawgj I wouldn't assume the worst, the Dev has only done great things for the game at least so it's worth a play, there's a lot worse Devs out there
Oh! Is that what I think it is in the thumbnail?
CROSSCODE MENTIONED LET'S FUCKING GO!
YAKKO + RAIN WORLD OMGGGG
WHY IS A RAIN WORLD COMMENT SO LOW IN THE TOP COMMENTS NOOOO
@@hkaden6815Its so sad they are all talking about cross code :(
It's all this stupid crossroad crap@@hkaden6815
RAINWORLD!!
I had already played Rain World before this video dropped. Thanks for reminding me I need to get through the DLC at some point
It is not a disappointment, Downpour is straight up an entirely new game at some points and it is BEAUTIFUL
Speaking of an indie game with void in the title. Void Stranger has gotta be my favorite indie game that came out last year! No one ever talks about it but man I’ve never played a game that made me so eager to uncover its secrets.
I like it too but man if it isn't frustrating in its vagueness and its disrespect for my time
True hidden gen last year❤
bruh that and ZeroRanger made by the same team
Crosscode is one of my favourite games ever. There's so much to do and it's so good. I can't believe more people are talking about it
I've been playing CrossCode since it was early access in 2017, It's been my number one game ever since then. Thank you for mentioning it and giving it the praise it most definitely deserves
Hi Lea Hi Hi Bye!
Its been .05 second and im already buying all of them. Ive literally purchased every suggestion on these videos and have never been disappointed
do play rain world in short game sessions tho you can get frustrated real quick
rainworldlover911
@@jeandeasd While I agree with this, I do think that actually pushing through the frustration at the start is better than just getting upset and closing the game and promising your self you will play again, cause that's when most people stop playing it. Its around the mid-mark that the game clicks for most.
@@CheeseyHRby half do you mean shoreline or 5p?
Is shoreline supposed to be mid game, I got there in under an hour?
yeahh rain world wooo rain world lets go wooo!
Best game
Unfortunate Development
Unfortunate Development
I love Unfortunate Development, Farm Arrays, and Drainage System. I don’t get why people hate these regions so much
@@jamaicanexileDrainage System and Farm Arrays are okay but I cannot STAND Unfortunate Development.
CROSSOCODE MENITON LETS GO!!
crossocode is def in my top games of all time, so underrated
@@qqutc it was dissapointing for me when i play it after so much praise to be honest
"You want a unique string of words? How about 'Psychedelic Bullet Heaven Breakcore..."
Take my money
"Roguelike"
BUYING THIS GAME RIGHT NOW!
YAY IT ROCKS AS YOU SHOULD
YESSSS! He finally talked about Rain World and CrossCode!
I'm definitely gonna try out Picayune and Gnorp Apologue. Looking forward to playing them :)
Obligatory “OneShot spotted” comment
Jokes aside I’m pretty surprised he covered (the) Gnorp Apologue. I played it myself and it was surprisingly good for an idle game, the strategy elements caught me off guard.
The developer is still working on the game, for his next update he is planning on adding basically some sort of continuation to the game but in space and with 100% more physics
thank you for mentioning crosscode!!! it was one of the first games i ever bought on steam back in like 2016 when it was early access and ive been following its development since, so its always really cool to see people talk about it!!! fantastic game that deserves more eyes
Saw crosscode and rain world in the thumbnail and but still had hope that this video would have some banger gems I've never heard of... luckily The Void Rains Upon Her Heart and Picayune Dreams both look pretty cool! I will check them out eventually :)
somehow i clicked on this video because i saw rainworld and yet was really suprised when you brough up rainworld, im always so happy when i see someone talk about my favorite game (im autistic)
THE VOID RAINS UPON HER HEART MENTIONED!!! I should mention two things about it. One, while the characters are naked, they don't have the... explicit features that come with that. Two, the music is absolutely baller.
As thanks, I will be trying out crosscode
Cant wait for when he discovers the DLC for rainword, Its my favorite game on steam not only because I major in computer science and I find it impressive, but I never felt anything like it when playing a game. Its a game that truly is an experience and will cause you to think differently.
The Void Rains Upon Her Heart is arguably an S tier roguelite and deserves so much more attention than its getting. Super glad to see you're enjoying it.
“A snarky comment”
Underrated comment.
wow, wasn’t expecting to see someone cover Void Rains on a video! I’ve loved the game, it’s one of my most played on my steam deck!
I love seeing The Void Rains Upon Her Heart getting more attention :)
CrossCode, at last he gets around to it. A perfect love letter to video games, that one. A gem that belongs in every gamer's library. Thank you for finally giving it the attention it deserves.
Crosscode is one of the best indie games I've played. It's great to hear someone finally talk about it and capture the feelings i had for the game myself.
The Void Rains Upon Her Heart AND Picayune Dreams mentioned!?!?! That's a pretty good video!
I'm so, SO happy Void Rains is getting more attention. My friend introduced me to it a while back and I racked up 40 hours in like two weeks. It is a solo project, I talked to the dev in his Discord Server's voice channel and he's a very nice and genuine guy. Thanks for introducing more people to this amazing game.
The Void Rains Upon Her Heart is amazing and the game I've spent the most time on (so far). There's so much love and QoL in this solo-developed game; Veyerals (the dev) is incredibly humble and friendly. Please buy the game if only by principle.
So, I found crosscode about a year ago. There was a pixel art game on sale that looked like it had potential, but not for me. I decided to check out what their most expensive game was, and it was crosscode. I downloaded the demo basically knowing nothing about the game. The demo hooked me, so i downloaded the full game.
That feeling of unlocking new moves just as you start to grasp the ones before, then you unlock an element above that. It was wild. The game expanded way beyond what i thought it would, and going in with no expectations was just about the greatest experience in a game i had had.
The game that I played prior to installing crosscode was the Witcher 3. Both grand games.
trying to 100% The Void Rain Upon Her Heart is going to be like Sisyphus. Difference is, there's a top of the hill that I CAN reach, and I do in fact have the indomitable human spirit.
CrossCode is my favorite game of all time! Always stoked to see more people cover it. Been intentionally giving it time to breathe, but I'm looking forward to my inevitable next playthrough, and Project Terra's eventual release.
Def a great game but also a game people drops a lot while playing since they didn’t realise the game is primarily around puzzles when they thought it would focus way more on action first instead 😭
Ayy I love the void rains upon her heart
During my internship I worked on the console port of Crosscode as a QA tester and I had such a great time. Dont know anymore how many times I have finished the game but even after the internship I kept replaying the game just because it was so good.
I'm gonna recommend Heart&Slash. It's a roguelike 3d brawler about robots with TV heads. It's probably the most obscure game I know and your videos seem like a perfect place for it. Amazing soundtrack too of course.
Before you sold me on Neon White despite not being up my alley (and it was my GotY).
You are the one that has sold me on Crosscode. I have a few titles to go through first, but by the end of year I am giving this a hearty shot.
I do want to show appreciation for your genuine support of Indies. Not just complain about AAA's and point to indies. But genuinely dig into the underground garden that it houses. I haven't heard of most of these games despite only playing indies and going super hard every Next Fest (granted I have blacklisted every roguelike on Steam). So anyone who can find gems I haven't even seen a screenshot of is someone who I respect.
Check in here after you give it a try, I wonder if there's something wrong with me because I hated the game. Or maybe it appeals to a rather narrow audience and that's why it's not considered a classic.
I love this series so much, I can't wait for 8 more games! I've always appreciated the love (both affectionate and critical) you give to them. Having not played most of the games you've recommended, I still feel confident in me recommending them because you recommend them with such sincerity. Thank you for these, and I can patiently and excitedly wait for the next one, regardless of how I started the comment. You're truly doing great work out here!
Thanks for adding subtitles 👍
It makes me so happy to see Picayune Dreams here, one of my favorite RUclipsrs was a dev on this game
I'm currently on my 7th(?) playthrough of CrossCode, so to see someone mention it in a video like this fills me with such joy!
Perhaps the best way I could describe the game in a handful of words is as follows: *ahem*
Single-player MMORPG Twin-stick Shooter Puzzle Platformer with Zelda-style dungeon crawling.
My only gripe with the game involves some of the late-game Ricochet Puzzles. And if you know, you know. But other than that, it's a fantastic experience!
Thank you for talking about Crosscode it’s my favorite game of all time
God, the thunder and wave temple bossfight in crosscode, the moment I saw it in the montage a thousand memories unlocked in my brain
What a nice and challenging bossfight, it felt so GOOD parrying the boss
I’m so grateful for these series. Because of you I’ve played DRG, Lethal League Blaze, Omega Strikers, Battle Chef Brigade, and more! Thank you so much! Love the videos. I don’t know if you have already played it, but Yoku’s Island Express is phenomenal
i am beyond happy to see crosscode here!!!! I've been super into it for a while now and I'm surprised by how little people talk about it.
Honestly we've had a ton of great indie games in the last few years alone. I'm sure you can totally find 8 more to recommend- Hell, Rusted Moss is probably the best metroidvania I've ever personally played- Signalis is an amazing old style horror game, Rabbit & Steel is a fantastic blend of shmups and FFXIV raid mechanics all blended in a co-op roguelite, and that's just a handful of some amazing gems I've enjoyed the past year.
No suggestions, just love listening to you talk about shit you really like! Appreciate the passion you have for this stuff
The amount of passion for games, not just the ones in the public eye, is what keeps me coming back to your videos. They're well edited, paced, and brimming with joy! I'm glad you're starting to find some footing, I'll be excited for your next video on indies! For now, time for me to buy CrossCode and feel gamer feelings
holy shit Picayune mention
LETS GO PICAYUNE DREAM IN THUMBNAILLL RAHHHHHHHH
Thank you for including Rain World. It means a lot to our smallish community.
Thank you so much for brining more attention to Void Rains!!! I discovered it last year and it is just so criminally underrated, hopefully this video will bring more people to this wonderful game
Thank you for these videos, as someone who plays indie games 80-90% of the time, finding new games can sometimes prove hard. These videos are amazing and always give me 1-3 games I end up picking up.
CrossCode was such a special game, even grabbed the soundtrack on vinyl when it dropped, so happy to hear you talk about it
Laika is such a great game. I really like the dark cowboy apocalypse.
I'm so used to seeing a video like this and all the comments being "Rain World yaassss omg" (I'm one of them).
It's refreshing seeing "Crosscode yassss omg" instead lol. It was definitely the most interesting looking game in the video aside from the 1 I'm biased to.
For the record - I really appreciate that you include your gripes as well as reasons for recommending. Much more holistic.
Your indie game recommendations are legit some of my favorite videos that you make. Love to hear what you think, everything that I've tried has been an absolute banger. Keep it up dude.
I'm so glad to see Laika get covered! (as well as learning about some other titles) And I've had the same feelings with the game as well. It does feel like it could've done more with it's Motorcycle gameplay and the rewards for some quests felt lacking. Still, I'm glad I went into this as blind as I did (and the music had so much feels).
really appreciate videos like this, its always a fun time to find out about great looking games that I never heard of before
you always find the most under the radar underrated slept on gems that no one talks about that all look super interesting. kudos to you and your channel... you're a master at your craft~
Yakko your content is so engaging, entertaining and helpful. I want you to know I’ve found a bunch of beloved games through you and in the review sections of these games it’s clear that I’m not the only one with many reviews naming you as the person leading them there. Thank you for the wonderful content and keep up the amazing work!
Few suggestions I have from being a games journalist for specifically indie games that are maybe not super obscure but still worth talking about imo
- Penny's Big Breakaway because it's awesome and I don't need to explain further
-Ultros is a game released this year that I've seen barely anyone talk about, despite the fact its a psychedelic, Castlevania inspired time loop metroidvania with a really awesome combo system
- Rytmos is obscure as hell but still a good time. It's a puzzle game that procedurally generates its soundtrack as you solve puzzles, plus you get to have little jam sessions at the end of each puzzle, it's really unique and a good time
- Ynglet is a super unique and free-flowing 2D... Platformer? You play as a little thing bouncing and swimming between a bunch of objects, all strewn about these microbe-ish environments, it's very very cool.
- cassette beasts is peak
Yakko please do these more often, you've recommended me some of my favorite games
Fantastic recommendations! Appreciate you for beefing up my gamer log for a couple months
Oh I loved Picayune Dreams. Its cool to see it recognized.
i'm so happy to see another indie game reccomendation video from you! i've always loved these videos as I progressively go through the video and say either:
1. "oh i didn't know this game, neat"
or 2: "HAHA YES THIS GAME WOO"
but for real though, I've always been a big fan of how you express yourself when it comes to videogames and I especially love it when you talk about indiegames!
I cannot wait for the 8 indie games reccomendation 🙏
(if you haven't check out: Demon Turf)
You are the real hero for including timestamps with games ❤
Yay! I love this series. Keep up the good work, my guy!
You know it’s a good year when yakkocmn uploads a Indie games video
Picayune dreams was a pure ecstasy experience for me, when I first saw it on steam I was like huh, maybe I’ll pick up that game one day before going off and playing other stuff. But once I did finally play it, I only wish that I did it SOONER. The game is nothing but amazing between its awe inspiring and creepy aesthetics at the same time. It’s addicting soundtrack that I listen to all the time even when not playing. The extremely fun gameplay loop with some of the most unique weapons you can find in a bullet heaven game, the memories are intriguing to go through as you piece together a surprisingly complex and morbid story. Bosses are so so fun with the worm giving terraria vibes and ESPECIALLY PICAYUNE HERSELF. It’s a masterpiece that anyone should play and dare to 100% especially when the game has an achievement for beating a run without taking a SINGLE hit. Really looking forward to any future updates that can come to it
as someone who has been FIENDING rain world lately (started playing half a year ago and have over 100 hours already, don't see myself stopping any time soon) I love the rain world shout out despite it being relatively older and very obtuse. Also love CrossCode, that game doesn't get enough love for how great it is.
Picayune Dreams has been one of my favorite games for the past while and I was surprised to see someone finally talking about it...
Always looking forward to a new video in this series!
Thanks for putting me on Brutal Orchestra!!!! Your vids r such a delight
25:13
Shivers?
Hell nah, that's pure terror
Thanks yakko, I’ve missed your videos 😭💚
I really love your indie games recommendations
And although i dont play a lot of them (cuz school and stuff) am still considering playing them in the back of my mind
Really love this series you should keep making more lists
So glad to see Picayune Dreams get thumbnail privileges, definitely one of the games I’m happiest to have discovered. Gotta check out Laika for sure too, heard many good things about it!
Also wanna recommend Void Stranger, an insanely deep and complicated tile puzzle game hidden behind Gameboy styled graphics. There’s a moment during the ending that hits incredibly hard
I loved seeing the games, but honestly yakko’s ad reads are so good. They’re the only ones I don’t actually skip.
About the rain world segment, you are SUPPOSSED to go to the wall. it lets you get to five pebbles, an integral area. Then, you can go to shoreline to talk to moon, or just go ascend.
This video is my favorite on your series of indie games you need to play, because i have only played one of these before!
Feels like the indie space is like 75% roguelikes
Great vid like always! You're nailing this format
Love that you say OuterWildes is a "usual suspect" for an indie game. I think it still doesn't get enough credits, but I'm glad that it's more notable than I had thought.
30:31 Haha "shrimp mode" gaming, I really felt that one! Like literally ow my back
The inflation of the indie game recommendation videos are insane. Keep doing it.
another installment to the series lets go
CrossCode mentioned and in thumbnail, let's gooooo!
To anyone who picks up rainworld from this video: if a creature is red it is friendly to you, which is rare
Im ngl man youtube did you dirty im subed and ive only heard of this videos existence after wondering huh my favourite youtuber hasnt uploaded in a while
