Yes, I've ridden it several times it's one of my favorite routes. My club (Cyclists of Greater Seattle) typically does this the day before and sometimes includes Toe Jam Hill in the route. Makes Baker Hill look like child's play, try it some time. I only make it all the way up about half of my attempts. Bring granny gears!
That's great, I've heard of Toe Jam Hill and am planning on including it in my route this year around Bainbridge :) Will definitely give it a go and report back.
I used up all my gears by 1/3 of the Baker Hill and felt like I burst a vain just half way up the hill. And when I thought that is all there for the hills, my legs started cramping up when I hit the subsequent hills...Still, it was a fun ride.
Thanks for the comment! I rode the whole route that day so I should have climbed all of them. Decided to call out Baker because it has the most elevation and seems to be a memorable point for the average rider ( they set up some folks there too sometimes ). Could very well be true that the others are effectively harder!
First time I did Chilly Hilly, I thought I was doing well and then I saw Baker Hill rise up in front of me and it felt impossible. Made it about halfway up, dropped my chain, and walked the rest. Second time, the Chill had got me and I made it about a third up before having to walk.
@@BestSideCycling I plan to it's a fun ride that is harder than it seems. Not this year though because my kids won't enjoy me walking them and a bike up the hills
Have you ridden the Chilly Hilly route before? Let me know if you're going this year as I'll be there too for the event!

Doing it tomorrow Oct 7th 2023 thanks for the pre ride info
Was thinking of maybe doing it this year.. You might have just convinced me :)
Awesome, you can do multiple loops and make sure to add in the Toe Jam Hill detour :)
This year will be my 5th time on the course. See you there!
See you there Oded! Have a great ride.

Indeed, it's definitely steep! Glad you enjoyed it regardless, are you planning on going this year?
@@BestSideCycling Haha, I liked the hilly part, but I don't think I would like the chilly part.
Interesting that you would focus on Baker Hill as the hardest. Did you climb Peterson and Arrow Point? They are shorter but much steeper.

It's definitely no joke! Great work, are you going to be doing the ride again?

Haha no worries Bainbridge and it's hills will always be around!
12% grade. “My body is ready” 😂
Hahaha but are you mentally prepared?
@@BestSideCycling I’m super excited actually. Can’t wait!
