Looks like only 2 crew did the grand tour of the (relatively) airless moons of Saturn, while the other 8 spent all their time on Titan. I would have volunteered to be the "lucky two" - they got all the magnificent views of Saturn, unobstructed by the smoggy Titanian atmosphere - the rest of the crew can HAVE that! Plus, Enceladus - perhaps a much better chance of sampling a subsurface ocean than Europa. Looks like a SNAP-10A reactor between those ion engines on Hermes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNAP-10A

But if you want, here you can download torrent file of this modpack, it's size around 1 gb. goo.gl/vymgCt
Wow, I've only played the game a few times (and suck at it) , but watching this video was more than just watching you play a game. I was so cool to see how you built the spaceship(s), landers, and everything else. It was like watching a NASA film on how they would do a Saturn mission (if they had the tech). Thanks so much, great video, loved the music.
"I was so cool to see how you built the spaceship(s), landers, and everything else" It is nothing intresting. It is long and boring process, wich usually takes several days and involves a lot of testing and explosions, rebuildings, new tests and new explosions until it finally starts flying like it should
That was visually and technically stunning, so eire to see Saturn floating still in the sky. Did the universal lander really have the fuel for all those landings or did it refuel in orbit? You have inspired me to attempt to replicate this.
I really admire your use of the fuel tanks as a shadow shield, not just for the gas cycle nuclear engines, but also for the reactor. That little bit of extra realism is just the chef's kiss on this mission
Subscribed! That "Hermes" craft and lander combination is really sweet - had enough delta-v to visit all the major moons of Saturn in one mission, save Titan. I can't help thinking that a "mass-leaner" mission might have involved parking all the components needed for the "Trans-Earth Injection," and the Titan exploration equipment, in Titan orbit, then take the "Hermes" and the small lander on the "Grand Tour" of the other moons. After that, return to Titan, and use more of a cylindrical lander, with blunt heat shield, 'chutes, landing legs, and rockets for landing and ascent, for the Titan surface mission. You could even refuel the lander from the ample supplies of methane in the atmosphere and on the surface of Titan! Wings, on the other hand, have been shown to be at a disadvantage for ferrying cargo from orbit, to a surface, and then back to orbit, both from the standpoints of volumetric efficiency and from mass. Besides, you must admit that you were AWFULLY lucky to find that flat plane on which to land "Daedalus" - practically a "runway!" ;-)
agreed! Phobos is great and really fun to fly around in an excursion vehicle (I think a real world Phobos crewed mission would be amazing too!) I've been wanting to do a crewed mission to Saturn as well, didn't know nuclear reactors were available in RO, this is definitely a game changer !
RSS/RO? A practical application of nuclear thermal turbojets? Saturn? Landing crews on all the (non-pebble) moons including Titan?! This has got to be one of the best KSP missions, or space missions for that matter, that I've seen. Insta-subscribed wondering why you don't get more views. I wish humanity gets a chance to explore these moons.
I dont have many views because im to lazy to do videos every week or even every day. I'm not like these youtube guys, like Scott Manley or Matt Lowne or anyone else. If i want something to show, i show it, if don't, i don't. Besides, filming something like this takes a lot of time and efforts, its not just playing the game anymore. You need to think not only about how to fly the rocket, but also how to get the beautiful footage. Sometimes you have to load one save for several times because you got a bad frame, or if you want to shoot the event from different angle
I don’t have anywhere near the skillset needed to put something like this together, but if I were to do one, I would make the stay on Titan 1 year long, and also upgrade the engines on the mothership to fusion. And maybe also add a powered uncrewed glider to rove in Saturn’s atmosphere. This was absolutely stellar (pun intended) in every respect nonetheless.
Jesus! This is EPIC!!! And the video kept surprising me, for example with the plane. And the plane surprised me with the rover and the base. Simply... WOW! I am full of awe!
Why the actual F would you thumb down a video like this? Help me understand.. Some people down know the scale of work that has gone down behind this. It takes days, weeks of planning and executing. This is the best KSP video i've ever seen.

well, the plan was to left it in LEO, to use it again later. Obviously i failed to do that. But still, it could be recovered, just need to get some fuel.
O.K., I've watched the whole mission through twice. Now I see why you brought the "Daedalus" shuttle all the way to Saturn and back: to land on and take off from Titan with those nuclear turbojet engines (unlimited range within Titan's atmosphere!).
When the plane that landed on Saturn comes home with the mother ship still in orbit, the ion shuttle around Saturn and a base on Titan sounds like you could go again with not too much refueling, substitute the docks that were for transports with more fuel for sub optimal transfers and you could start ferrying equipment all around the Saturn system. Not that I expect you to repeat such a monumental task, just fun to think about the future potential of this mission. Also with the accelerate through time-warp features and all the nuclear reactors did you think about going full ion for this mission?
