Silver’s arc also culminated in Pokémon Masters with his capture of Ho-Oh, as the Legendary Pokémon only shows itself before Trainers who are pure of heart, showing how much he’s grown and his newfound relationship with Pokémon. And why he appears in the background of his team in various shots of Pokémon Masters.

That's true. I really liked that story as well. I think I focused in on the Neo Champion event mostly because I liked the way Lance openly acknowledged Silver's growth (and had to admit how he'd misjudged him.)

@@KatrinaSForestI don’t disagree with using that storyline xD especially when it further expands on a dynamic explored in the game, and an example of how the Champion brings about positive change in a rival like Silver, since it was his loss to Lance that set the stage for his redemption.

If we have a rival, then we also ARE a rival. In every single game. If Blue is your rival, then you are his. Same for Silver, Wally, etc. You've already been playing every mainline game as someone's rival. You just happen to come out on top every time and because we play from their perspective and we're the good guys who put them on the right path, we don't see ourselves as a rival. But they do.

That's more than fair. ^_^ I guess maybe a better way to phrase it is that someday I'd like to be able to play as the imperfect rival.

I quite uh...love Kieran. As a character. I think I relate to him more than the actual protagonist, of course mostly because he actually has a character.
My favorite part of the Dlc is when he actually catches Terapagos, in a master ball no less like the player would do. Only for that Terapagos to Terastallize. Kieran tries to calm it down via summoning it to its Pokeball, only for it to break the Masterball in his own hands. Sending it flying. Bro the way my heart broke 💔. Dude finally got a Legendary only for it to immediately break its Pokeball. I wanna hug this kid so bad.

I know what you mean! As soon as he threw that Master Ball (which I love how they set up how he got one), my first thought was, "Don't you dare try to make him look like the bad guy here, game! He did exactly what protagonists have always done when faced with the game's legendary!"
I wish so much he could've kept it. And the fact that we can't trade Terapagos or Ogrepon to him made me so sad.
I'm working on a video right now about what Pokemon I will trade to him, because I want it to be as special as it can within the limits of what the game allows. :)

    I know what you mean.
As crazy as it sounds. I kinda hope to someday in the future we get to play a protagonist in which we can choose if we want to be the traditional pokemon hero or choose to be neutral or take the path to becoming a villain. It would make for an interesting game.
(Also the problem with x and Y I believe is that GAMEFREAK knew they had to change, they had to do something different but just did not know how to go about it and worse they ran out of time before they had something concrete, which is why the X and Y game feels disjointed and incomplete…. Like you said the rivals did not get the time and even the villain is affected as you can see that GAMEFREAK wanted to make a compelling villains but did not really know what to make him like should he be evil like Giovanny and Ghetsis or complex and redeemable like Cyrus? Should we sympathize with him like N or is he right but went about it the wrong way? (Even now they cannot seem to agree with what to do as in some versions he is pure evil, others he is redeemed or shows there is a chance) It’s from this game forward that we see an improvement on both the rival and the villains in future games though there are some hits and misses but still improvements)

Thanks for your comment and sorry about my delayed reply! Yeah, I think Lysandre suffered some of the same issues as Rose in that we don't feel the same sense of urgency he does. It's difficult to do a well-meaning but misguided villain right. I think they nailed it with the villains of Scarlet/Violet as well as the villain of Legends:Arceus, so it feels like they're on the right path, like you said.
I think the key is that you should be able to look at whatever the villain perceives as a problem, look at their proposed solution to it, and be able to say, "Yeah, I can see from their view why that was a good plan."

The xy gang is fun they’re a wholesome bunch
The group of 5 is unique to the series at least at the time
    They’re underrated

I can't disagree there. I just would've loved to see how much better they could've been with more screen time.
I'm actually hoping to do a playthrough of X and Y soon. Out of all the Pokemon games, that one's been the longest since I've replayed it, and I've been wanting to experience it again.

I do like Shauna though. I think 3 was 2 much at the time. We needed more Shauna and Serena/Calem with the 3 way rival they did in BW. added 2 more into the mix was 2 much imo.

I think that would've been just the right balance with a trio rather than a group of five.
I like Shauna too; wish she would've have more screen time.

Was listening in the background. Did I miss Klara/Avery?

    • @KatrinaSForest
      @KatrinaSForest  21 день назад

Nope, you didn't miss anything. Kieran was the only DLC rival I focused on, and it was mostly because of the odd approach they took to his plot arc.
Klara and Avery are lots of fun; I just think my worry about the video becoming too long got the better of me there.
