BoffoBits #2- King Crimson's John Wetton on 'Starless and Bible Black'.

John was upset with Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford at their initial reaction to his song, "Starless and Bible Black" and why it didn't make it on the album of the same name. It appeared on the "Red" album as 'Starless". Other bands at the time also released album title tunes later on. ELP with 'Brain Salad Surgery", Zeppelin's 'Houses of the Holy' and 'Sheer Heart Attack by Queen are but a few.

it doesn't work out. it's true the song got rejected for the SaBB album in Jan 74, but after the addition of the instrumental extensions, the song was in the live-set from March 74 onwards. So it was played for months live, before the recording of the Red album in he summer of 74

I think the story is the same, but rather than when recording Red, Bill and Bob approved during rehearsals in Feb 1974.

David and Robert wrote the main melody, John wrote the lyrics. The David Cross band still play Starless.
