I purchased one today from my Nissan dealership for $35.00, will attach it to my truck after I purchased the 4 screws. Thanks for video, most people like myself didn't know about this. your video is very helpful!
So far you're the most informative when it comes to the now Frontier! I hope I can afford the Pro x 4×4, if not I will go for the loaded Sv model with leather and the sunroof.
If you can afford a loaded SV you can afford a stripped pro 4x. A all package SV is more expensive, but you will likely have to factory order the pro 4x to get a stripped one.
I did this fix as soon as I got my 22 frontier. Although I’m also thinking of the transfer case, the gas tank . There’s also a cover for the transfer and gas tank.
The pro-4x isn't really worth the extra money unless you know you're going to be off-roading. You can get a fully loaded SV for the same price as a fairly base pro-4x.
Why don't you put the part numbers on the description, this way we can just search them. Edit: I managed to find the part number 50842-7S000, it was on the video. But looking at the Nissan dealer parts website I also found another matching skid plate for the transmission, part number 50884-7S000, I gambled $19 dollars and purchased that also. If the transmission skid plate fits then it's great because the 2022 Frontiers have composite transmission pans that can be damaged much easier than the steel oil pan, it can be damaged even from a non-direct hit.
@@sudawxj actualy, I have to correct the definate part number for tranny shield. Its 50884-9FV1A. Fits perfectly and comes with PRO-4X from the manufacture. Sorry for wrong information but I was positive until I figured out
My 2023 SV has a plastic one. It is a pain because it must be removed to drain the oil. They could have made an access panel to drain the oil similar to the one for the oil filter. Clearly an afterthought.
I heard there is an after market aluminum transmission pan if you want to change it out. Me honestly don't care about it, the plastic is hard and it has filter built-in in it, so every 30k-60k miles you need to remove the pan to change the filter anyway. Just don't put all your might to tighten it and you should be fine. I'd change the pan at 100k miles if I still have my truck, it is easy to do and currently it is less than $100 for parts so it id no big deal at all!
Thank you for this! I’m about to order the part from my local dealership. You said you had gotten the wrong bolts at first, do you mind telling what is the actual size bolts we will be needing to install this part? Thank you in advance!
@@SkyBridgeRE I hope this helps, but I got help from a thread on Reddit and I was told that an M8 1.25x20mm fits! Got it from Home Depot, along with some washers to lock it down and boom, oil pan protected!
Does the 50842-7S000 oil pan cover fit on the 2 wheel drive. I bought a 2022 Nissan frontier SV 2 wheel drive . When I changed the oil at 5000 miles i was surprised to see there wasn't a oil pan cover on there.
It depends. If you have a beer belly it is probably quite difficult to crawl in there. If you built like a tour de France athlete however, I am pretty sure you can crawl in there no problem!
I'm leaning towards this for my son.....are you any bit concerned about the new engine being "Direct Injection"? I know frontiers have been very reliable but in the long run what do you think about the longevity of the new direct injection motor as we've not been able to find anyone who has taken it well over 100K yet?
At least it is a normally-aspirated engine. The normally-aspirated V6 in the 2022 Tacoma is also direct-injected. The 2022 Ford Ranger and 2023 Chevrolet Colorado are turbo fours with direct injection. The base four-cylinder in a Tacoma might be your only non-direct injection choice for an intermediate-size truck.
“If i keep it past the Lease” 😂😂😂 now thats funny , i will be totally surprised if you keep it the whole lease , and if so you will be shopping new vehicle 3 to 6 months before the lease is over 😂😂 i mean lets be honest with one another🤷♀️🤣🤣
Yeah hahaha i had a brand new 45,000 dollar Toyota Tacoma TRD and some moron ran into me on the freeway and totalled it. I got 44000 from his insurance company then went to Nissan and spent 34,000 on a 2022 frontier SV 4x4 hahaha then put the remaining 10000 bucks in the ole piggy bank hahaha ass!
I found that an M8-1.25x20mm hex flange bolt was the perfect size

Can confirm that the Pro-4X models come with this plate and others pre-installed. Great video!
I'll second that. How about the Pro-X models?
@@douglasdever6134yes, it has it. I checked underneath mine and it comes with it from the factory.
Thx
Just put mine on
Now waiting on the under cover(skid plate). From a pro4x.

I wish they made a similar transmission cover like this, huge opening, plastic transmission pan is a disaster waiting to happen.
Try part # 50884-9FV1A

Hello, do you have an update on the transission skid plate? thanks

Great info thanks .
It's a good idea you added skid plate over the oil pan. We all know what happens when pan gets damaged, no oil, big engine repairs !
I wonder how your truck compares with a pro 4x. I think the pro 4x has more protection and possible slightly more suspension travel right?
thank you ordered mine and put it on just now
Nothing wrong with more protection. Nice price on that extra underbody cover.
There will probably be a recall for this in the future.
Thanks for the video! My 2023 S model already has it.
That's pretty unusual I think for an S trim. My 24 SV only has the front skid plate.

Why isn’t that plate standard?
Mr Offrd does this cover fit on a 2wd sv frontier 2022?
Pro4x has it. I wonder if you could actually double it up tho?

Second this..Please :)
Lowes part # 755823 Hillman bolts metric m8 10.9 size. I used Lock washer and a flat washer with it. 13mm socket done in 5 minutes.
Can confirm that the OEM bolts are incompatible.

yes installed this on my S last weekend, easy peasy
Is this worth it?
What’s the part number
✌🏻🤟🏻✊🏻
That makes too much common sense to cover that up and besides it may cost them $10 extra for a 40k+ truck.
Is there enough ground clearance on the SV to install the skid plate without having to jack it up?

Engine is guaranteed by Nissan for life on these buddy
I'll call BS on that statement. There is NO written warranty for this engine to be warrantied for life of the vehicle.
@Raisinville as I've said before the Tacoma also has port injection to keep everything clean....tacoma has both
What size bolts did you end up having to go with?
M8 1.25 * 1
I put a sub in mine

yes
Would it work on a 2022 Pro-X?
Pro-X as well

Stamped steel. Same one that is on the PRO-4X. (but can order it from the parts counter)

@williamgates4399 do you need to put a washer on or can just put a bolt on it and forget about it
