I think it's because two different people are on the site and they sorta 'counter' each other so the timer keeps ticking. So not only did Striker take ages to come he actually handed the win to Szalami by keeping those troops on the site instead of letting Matiz decap lol

OO2 was a great tournament and very entertaining to spectate (most of the times). watching the madman szalami pull this off live was just the icing on the cake. great commentating overall as well, especially when you casted with partners.
That was unbelievable. And it was so close! He lost the Elzbach and villagers were rapidly dying. Had just one more player showed up he probably wouldn't have got the victory. That might be the craziest thing I've ever seen in AOE4.
Szalami is a god of war. He leveraged mankind’s fear of loss and distrust of outsiders to pit neighbor against neighbor and ascend himself into the heavens.
Doing that all or nothing risky stunt really gives me shaking and blood pressure rising. I could feel what szalami felt that I would need medical assistance after that event. Hope is doing fine. He deserves an award for that performance.
At the beginning of the tournament Drongo also mentioned that they would give extra points to best king snipe, best wonder defense and best sacred site defense among other categories. So hypothetically that's an extra point for Szalami What a legendary game
Maybe Szalami put the relics in the tower in the middle so he could collect more relics from the middle faster by reducing the walking distance. Edit: maybe that was part of it but the mad lad went all the way and put an Elzbach on it. I didn't check the video length and I was so sure Szalami would lose the sacred site but god, the wololo god actually won the whole thing.
