I've been thinking it'd be interesting if, maybe for just the first match of the finals, the players can pick their civ based on their ranking (no repeats) so the top players have something to play for when they're already qualified

Yes exactly :). I think it's a great touch but making it global is too OP if you ask me. Make it like how it's for Mongols. I understand the statement that Chinese dynasty is a huge commitment but they have great eco bonuses anyway so is it really a huge investment? I don't know.
@@alperenelbasan7909 Maybe they thought that it requiring a minimum of 3 landmarks and not coming online until Castle Age at the earliest was enough of a trade off (Mongols can theoretically benefit from their speed boost in the Dark Age if anyone ever bothered to build early horsemen).
@@seanheath4492 that's a valid point. I'm just not liking the palace guards "RUSH B" strategy and how they are crazy fast, even with Xbows you cant counter them, you need a strong front line.
What this tournament is missing is a live observer that they can questions like, "Can we group against him now?" So after Wam was dead Ourk and Don could group were easily against MLord, and he couldn't hold both of them for sure. Then Don could just drop the Wonder. But he decided to be greedy and lost, I believe it's because he wasn't sure if he could team up or not.

I think it would be cool for the next OUTBACK OCTOGAN that the wonder countdown gets activated when the king is garrisoned inside the wonder, and that it stops otherwise. Because when we're in the post-post imperial age, and there's no other real way of winning than going wonder, the progress of the game is always very predictable. All players ally to get rid of the 1st player going wonder, then to get rid of the 2nd one if they manage to, etc. The map is ruined, situation is chaotic and the final victor does not always seem to be the most deserving. That would allow for a new level of politics complexity to the game. All players in the game that can afford it would go wonder, but not necessarily put the king inside right away, rather as a way of saying "don't attack me yet, but I'm ready to take the victory when my time comes". Players would attempt to seize some seconds off the countdown, start building forward bases closer to the ennemy, to be ready for the fight when one player reaches a certain threshold with his countdown and gets all the players to ally against him.

Going back to what I mentioned earlier, all players have the same number of games because this is $30,000 prize pool event. Meaning what player will knowingly join an event were they have fewer games and/or fewer chances to reach the semi-finals and then the finals all because they couldn't get enough points because they got fewer games than other competitors. In the case as @Zaganim mentioned with the Viper cannot play a certain match, a substitute player will play on Viper's behalf so the Viper can still earn points for that game.
The opposite is true, after this game the top 8 goes to finals where points get reset to 0. So any points for people above me in the standings are irrelevant, I just needed those below me to do poorly

The keep/emplacement bug happens when you tell the building to attack a unit and then another unit/emplacement kills it.
