I agree, he didn’t negotiate in a rational way!
Even if she quickly agreed for him to take on the absurd gun, he could have win even more by admitting, “thinking about it, that super gun is absurd, I’ll get this much more sane one instead!”
That way he would have 2 ways to win. If they feel a need to be in agreement on large purchases, he’s still got a way to lose.

Guns are actually not bad at holding their value. A purse doesn’t.
A gun can also be useful for self defense and hunting.
Nothing is a better investment than transferable machine guns
Dude imagine if you would have invested in machine guns pre-1986. Standard price weapon +$200 tax turns into 20-30k easy.
Your next point is also true. I bought a 2.8k firearm in 2008 and sold it for the same 15y later. Good luck doing that with a purse

Is it just me or am I the one who would go through a period of extensive saving and frugality but then also a period of random splurging?
I think that’s human nature. I try to think about being broke at 60, so not splurging now makes it worthwhile.
I'm the same. I NEVER spend money just because. I always have a goal of a nice trip. But, once in a great while, I'll buy a shirt I don't need, some flowers for the house that I technically don't need, and other little things like that all at once.
I used to think the same way. Now that I have struggled to be debt free, I find I don't need or really want anymore, the things I thought I would. Dave has mentioned before that after going through the struggle, a mind shift takes place. It really does.
@@truthseeker6370 I don't spend what I can't afford, but it still feels weird to actually buy something that wasn't absolutely necessary.

As an owner of a $5,000 gun, it’s not a bad investment. Holds value well.
What annual rate of return do you get from it?
Holding its value doesn't make it a good investment. It also means that they should probably sell it anyways just before actually buying the house.
Its not an "Investment" its just an asset that doesn't depreciate as rapidly as some things.
So does Ping golf clubs...but doesn't mean it will appreciate over time.

There’s a huge difference between a $5000 trip and a $5000 gun. A gun stores the value and the $5000 on a trip it’s gone.
That’s just the thing most non gun people don’t know. Guns, and ammo if you have a stockpile and don’t shoot it, don’t lose value. Hell, compare ammo prices from 2019 to now.

Can’t believe she would compare getting a $5000 bag to a gun😂 one is literally the biggest waist of money
If he spends a bit more he can buy a transferable machine gun that will be a great investment that will continue to rise in value.
Do tell
Raf Matt back in 1986 registration of new machine guns was eliminated, so there are only so many pre-1986 transferable machines in this country. There is way more people that want machine guns then people that have machine guns, and every year as some are destroyed, lost, or become damaged to the point that they are on usable, there are less of them, and there will never be any more added. The price continues to go up from already insane to astronomical. You can buy a nice A.R. 15 for $1000. To get a transferable full auto example you are going to pay over $30,000, and it’s not because the gun is inherently really any different. It just has a serial number that was registered as a machine gun that existed before 1986. The only difference in mechanical terms is a couple of other stamped sheet-metal trigger parts In the receiver.
If you are interested in doing more research, you can look into the national firearms act, the 1986 Hughes amendment, and how the laws and markets work on transferable machine guns, as opposed to dealer sample, post 1986 Machine guns

@@eliubfj if its his money 100%, if its his and his wifes money in that savings account, its a little different but i agree.
@Frustrated Omegle no that's why you don't get married no benefits for men.
Our rule for situations like this is if he gets $5,000 to spend on a luxury purchase, I also get $5,000 to spend on a luxury item. It has worked so well for us, both to keep us in check and to make it "fair." There are times when we give each other the gift of not having to give that amount to the other person, but as a rule it has been great!
It sounds like the $800K house is her luxury item.
I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't want or care to live in a 800 grand house. I'm also pretty sure that chances are that she will get her half of that house and his half within 10 years.
$5k is a price worth paying for him to protect your life
What I've learned from a lifetime of purchases like this, is that when you 1st get the item you are ecstatic and then within a few months or years it just ends up sitting on a shelf collecting dust. If guns are his hobby and what he lives for, it's probably okay. If it's not that, he will end up looking at that gun a decade from now and wondering what the heck was he thinking.
Cheap guns hold value. So a gun of that magnitude. Will be worth that 5 grand for a long time. The way things are it might be worth more.
Im only 13 and Im taking your financial class 🥳🥰😂
Could have a good return on the expense with the way the world is going
With guns? Yes lol they want to obliterate the second amendment
The main question wasn’t asked - why he does want to buy a gun at all? Where he’s planning to use it? Never poped to my mind to buy a gun and at that price
Lol. If there were no communist dem. He'd have no reason to buy a gun. Since there is. The guns probly a better buy then the house. The people who started the country new things would get this way. Hence they made sure there was a way out.
Because he wants one. There's no other reason needed.
Im new to guns. I want a $5,000 custom gun.
