Great video. I’m definitely a believer in 8mm Mauser penetration and stopping power. I took a Buck this year 70 yards PPU. Thanks for sharing this site on Milsurp Hunting
It always amazes me that the first center fire cartridges developed were the most effective and accurate. Still not superseded by the new ones. Those were smart people back then. 7x57, 6.5x55. The list could go on.
I was rooting for the Swiss K31! Looks like most of these can do the job. The M1 carbine definitely is on the bottom end, no doubt. Great video fellas!
From personal experience I have taken deer with an M1 carbine, M1 Garand, K98, and a Hungarian under folder. Every year I use a different milsurp type Rifle in their original format. I actually have a video I will be posting this weekend about this and my experiences using these rifles in the field and their performance. The 30 carbine worked but the bullet had an interesting path once it entered the deer.
K31 is a great rifle for Whitetail. A good soft point and that trigger really works em over! Also for those with aging eyes, there are some very good non-mod scope mounts for the K31s.
Got a drill and tap scope mount from Rock Solid Industries for K31. It looks like a ZF-55 Sniper rifle now along w the pineapple muzzle break and check rest pad.
My son used a sporterized No4 Mk1 last year, superb rifle. I might try the SKS this year, last year I used a Carcano M38 but no luck with deer coming out when I was there.

Yes, definitely going to have to test that out as well as 7x57

Thanks! Cheers 🍻
Ive had a ton of success with a type 99
We could test that
Great video! I just wonder why Y’all didn’t have a Garand there. P. S. I think we’re sort of neighbors, I live in Augusta.
Awesome!
That was my fault. I was supposed to bring the others. I failed...
7.5 french or 7.7 Japanese would of been good choices as well
I think the MAS36 is underrated, I too would like to see what it does. I got 7.7 Jap from Steinel and it is really good at 50 yards

How far away was the deer with the M1 carbine? I took a doe at 50 yards with one couple years back, it wasn’t an unusual path
Fantastic video!
Thanks 🍻
Great video. Let's see M1 garand, 6.5 Carcano, and 6.5 Swede next!
People really want to see the Swede!

The milsurp I used the most was an SKS. Also have used a sporterized no4 mk1 and P17
