Great review, thank you! I think the Xtreme 2 sounds more refined but if one is just about 'playing it loud', it is probably best to go with the old one.
It sounds clearer than Xtreme 1. Overall it has really good sound quality.
You cant deny the smoothness of overall sound on xtreme 2.

First of all I would like to say thank you for putting in good hard work and fact-checking the decibel differences. Secondly I would have to say that in my opinion it would be smarter for those who have a JBL Xtreme to just hang on to it instead of upgrading. Although JBL provided a firmware update for the Xtreme 2, I agree with you that the sound should not have only been more hi-fi, but the volume level should have been more X-treme as well. But it is what it is. You don't have to apologize to anyone for any of these shortcomings. Hopefully JBL has learned their lesson. Ultimately it will reflect in their sales.
