  • Okay now for some fun. Which do you like better, Series 50G or Series 50EGR? Wish I could have done the comparisons with the same bus type, but here in San Diego just not possible. Sadly our 50G's are gone now here in SD, and the 50's here in "great" California are getting thinner. These sounds are disappearing.
    Anyways post your vote and comment which you like better.

    On the D60LFs, the engines are actually DDS50EGR enginez

    DD50 Diesel engines all the way. I do like the 50G and 50EGR variants though.

    They had these fitted to the RTS06 city buses NYC and it sounds like this but also has a supercharger-like whine sound and a more prominent intake/exhaust "howl" sounds better than these

      I love the RTS distinction. I don't like the 50G in the Orion 7 as much as in the C40, though.

      The supercharger-like whine and exhaust howl was actually the Allison V731 transmission at work. THAT paired with the DD50 engines makes it sound like a beast, one of my favorite powertrain configurations followed by the DD50G/AWB400R and the DD60/AWB500R.

    Who cares? It's all Series 50! I wish the recent New Flyer buses came with these engines instead of Cummins engines. (I live in NYC, which got the last C40s as well as a bunch of XD40s/60s and is set to get XN60s soon.)

    I know the 50G has Rings on it but im going for the 50 Because its more sounded like a DE40LF in DC

      Rings?

    • @iwillstareintoyoursoul9762
      @iwillstareintoyoursoul9762 3 года назад

      @@jetstream454, sometimes the 50G engines will make a ringing or chirping sound when the bus accelerates. But from my first-hand experience, this only or mostly happened with CNG-powered Orion V and 1st Gen Orion VII buses, both of which also had Allison B400 transmissions.

  • @jetstream454

    Nice video. I am unsure which buses are diesel and which are CNG however?
