- With IFAB granting the FA’s request to pilot bodycams we set up an exhibition game to see how wearing a camera impacts a referee. Does it reduce abuse? Can the footage be used to develop? Would you wear a Bodycam?

What would also be useful is a body of videos publicly available that have an in person ref cam and a pitch side cam. Run them split screen. It would help people appreciate the different perspectives and angles we have vs a wide angle, often elevated spectator view.
That's a great idea!
You were blowing some steam in there lad. 💪I hope you have caught your breath now. 🤣❤️
First friendly back. Blowing from the start 😂
Quality you are mate. I’m 18, done my course a couple years ago but still ain’t done my 5. Really want to get stuck in now
Shows how impossible it is to please everyone as a ref. It's a friendly and you're still getting stick for making the right decision 😅 Glad you have those replays to show them after the game, maybe it'll help them change their attitude to refs a bit
I think it also shows how critcal of ourselves we are during the game as well!
Really interesting, thanks, Hassan. Great advantage leading to the penalty! Some good self-reflection as well.
I love this it’s a great pov on seeing what goes on in matches
Very interesting experiment learnt a great deal Love the loud shouts I would have gone yellow in the circumstances of the game too
Camera on a hat or headband would probably be the way to go. If something develops after the whistle, etc. your head would turn faster then your body.
That's a very good point. I can sense someone inventing a ref cam head band!
This is an inevitable evolution to refereeing. The first refs who should get it are the young, new recruits dealing with crazy parents and coaches.
100%
I could easily see using this as a teaching tool (either self or as a mentor) with the RefSix video tool - especially since it gives position on the pitch, speed, etc. To be really useful, I'd hope that more image stabilization can be implemented.
I think it's possible that wearing a camera could reduce specific kinds of abuse, or at least document it when it happens, though I'm not very often positioned with my chest toward a coach or spectator. (And with respect to DOGSO v SPA, the consideration in Law 12 is "likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball", so current control is irrelevant. )
Jon can play abit
7:27 fail handshake😂
13:41 after being so specific walking the wall back, don't then take your eyes off of him. He stole 3 more paces!
Good spot!
Hey mate, I, a referee at football Victoria and I was just wondering is that one of our shirts behind you and if so how did you get it.
Yes it is! We got it when Jon refereed out there back in 2018!
Ya don't play on when someone PURPOSLY touches the ball with their hand
Technically you can, as long as their is a good enough advantage to be played, like in this video.
@@REFSIX Oh okay thanks
I’m all for body cams to be honest as it would reduce abuse maybe questioning of decisions not but definitely foul and abusive language
Could the video be used to question decisions during the game? VAResque?
@@REFSIX yes I would also give the option for that as well as there might be a good opportunity to see what all cameras on all officials produces
22:52 I got another reason to give a yellow. Let's say that it is a clear DOGSO, like you said, you should have given the advantage. If you can give an advantage in a DOGSO situation, your sanction should go down. So the red card become a yellow card because of the advantage.
