Hahahahah I was literally having trouble removing the clamps just now and someone offered to help. I’m a woman with pride I felt like an idiot and immediately searched for a video to watch
Really appreciated this video. Loading/unloading a bar is what we do all the time but have never seen someone do a walkthrough of it. I learned something. Thank you.
Dude, when you slid the bar out of the plates, my jaw hit the f*cking floor! All these years, that never occurred to me. I always awkwardly shimmy the plates off the bar on the second side. YOU ARE FREAKING GENIUS!
Completely COMPLETELY embarrassed myself loading AND unloading even with a bar support to roll it off and it was just humiliating lol, I tried deadlifts too heavy to test my strength , stopped, couldn’t take the weights off the last side and interrupted a person at the gym to ask for help with (light) weight to take off of my bar ... hated myself in this moment 💀😂
We've all been there. I mean me. I have been there 😂 did none of the easy methods in this video...i feel so silly but also so looking forward to get back there and load and unload my bar like a pro 😂 then probably proceed to make other mistakes 😂
I was struggling to get off a plate off a barbell in a packed gym and no one helped 🙄. I’m glad that this is actually a common issue and I’m not just awkward haha.
Just back from my first gym session. Made a complete ass of myself trying to load and unload a barbell on the floor. Thanks to your video. It'll have been a one off!
I had avoided deadlift for like, ever, because I'm stupid and I realized a while ago that I was looking stupid trying to load/unload the thing. Great vid!
Omg! So simple yet so effective! You are the only one on RUclips to beautifully explain loading and unloading the bar. It can be daunting for a beginner so thank you!
I have extreme anxiety and last time when I went to go do this for the first time ever I did pretty much everything wrong somehow and just felt like a dork. Lucky no one was around but in the moment easy stuff like this is hard for me ,so thank you very much for this video
Best way I’ve seen so far, thank you! Some random person at the gym told me I was taking the plates off wrong but the way he showed me… also seemed wrong
Definitely one of the best videos on loading/unloading. Never even thought about how to effectively do this. I watched other videos and everyone else teaches by dropping the barbell or using some weird technique. I really appreciate this. Thanks so much.
Thank you for this! I've almost thrown my back out loading and unloading plates so much appreciated. Especially with all these sanitizers ruining the metal and making it even more difficult to glide the plates off.
Thank you. I have been using "preloaded" bars, but they are difficult to deal with as my strength has increased. I'll feel much more confident on my next deadlift day.
I dropped the bar on my foot. It wasn’t injured too much. I googled to figure out how to unload the bar and this video has saved my life. Thank you. I was about to stop lifting 🤣
Typically use the smith machine but have been wanting to move away from it. Felt super awkward unloading the plate and had some difficulty. Very helpful thank you 😊
Man, believe it or not the answer to a question like this is really one of the great things about utube. I truly wish you could of seen me, an "advanced beginner" trying to load the bar. Wow. What a mess. This is a great video, thank you very much. Peace.
Sometimes, after lifting deadlifts I lift the loaded barbell on a squat rack and easily remove the plates without bending too much, its just bonus rep :D , when the barbell is too heavy for moving then I do this with my friend, we lift it on squat rack together. But, yes this was really helpful video, thanks :) .
Thank you for showing us how to do this. i'm a beginner and was worried I was gonna clank the weights and look stupid in front of everyone. Tbh a lot of these seemengly small things are why people are intimidated to move from machines to barbells.
Good advice. Not to be that suitable for classic Olympic plates, however (as they're thicker). Anyway, again, good advice: short, clear, with "pros and cons" highlights.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been struggling with loading and unloading plates and was about to give up. It was taking me a long time to get the plates on and off. This really helps reduce the time I spam spending on the set-up and dismantle of the bar.
I feel like the guy is a little unnecessarily aggressive/defensive 😂 but this is great!! I just started at a new gym and I'm used to handles on plates so I felt like an idiot trying to scoot them.
In my experience if you’re a dude deadlifting 3 plates and plus, flipping the bar over to pick it up is easier then constantly picking up and pulling, you’re making about 2 movements with his instructions, but pulling it up is one motion that’s takes all plates and then pick them up, this subtracts 3-6 steps
Watching so I don’t look awkward af in the gym lmao
Preach
same😂
I had that awkward moment at the gym today unfortunately 🤦♂️
Same 🤣
Hahahahah I was literally having trouble removing the clamps just now and someone offered to help. I’m a woman with pride I felt like an idiot and immediately searched for a video to watch

2:40 : and then you just do magic and suddenly there is a cute doggo!
Took me a while to realise that there is a dog in the video lol
Ghhhhhhhh
Took me to see your comm to notice 😂
same I didnt even notice it until halfway lmao i was like "ayo wtf theres a dog there"
It's black and white so it blends in with the background. 😳
This exact same thing Happened to me more than once lol
I have done this at least four times. I feel you
We've all been there. I mean me. I have been there 😂 did none of the easy methods in this video...i feel so silly but also so looking forward to get back there and load and unload my bar like a pro 😂 then probably proceed to make other mistakes 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
You're a woman. It's not that big of a deal. For a man, it's way more embarrassing
Loading & unloading is a whole set itself
I was struggling to get off a plate off a barbell in a packed gym and no one helped 🙄. I’m glad that this is actually a common issue and I’m not just awkward haha.
This is the kind of elite knowledge I subbed to get. *level up*
Thank you for this. This is one of those awkward scenarios in the gym that no one talks about until it happens to you for the first time.
I watched this randomly on my feed, and I’ve used this technique every since 😂
Just back from my first gym session. Made a complete ass of myself trying to load and unload a barbell on the floor.
Thanks to your video. It'll have been a one off!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I always stuggle with loading and unloading a barbell and I’m glad I found a video that explains everything perfectly
I had avoided deadlift for like, ever, because I'm stupid and I realized a while ago that I was looking stupid trying to load/unload the thing. Great vid!
As a beginner BB lifter, this was tremendously helpful, thank you!
I can’t believe I’m watching this but yeah it’s helpful to us awkward people at the gym 💀
Omg! So simple yet so effective! You are the only one on RUclips to beautifully explain loading and unloading the bar. It can be daunting for a beginner so thank you!
2:48 when I noticed that adorable pup!!!! 😊
Thaaanks a lot! Guys in the gym always leave behind a loaded barbell and I always have to struggle with unloading (I'm just 54kg/119lbs :D)
Man i'm def throwing hands on tht whoever dude it is if he always does that
I have extreme anxiety and last time when I went to go do this for the first time ever I did pretty much everything wrong somehow and just felt like a dork. Lucky no one was around but in the moment easy stuff like this is hard for me ,so thank you very much for this video
The first gym video everyone needs to watch 😊
Best way I’ve seen so far, thank you! Some random person at the gym told me I was taking the plates off wrong but the way he showed me… also seemed wrong
4:09 actually, the shirt looks good.
Definitely one of the best videos on loading/unloading. Never even thought about how to effectively do this. I watched other videos and everyone else teaches by dropping the barbell or using some weird technique. I really appreciate this. Thanks so much.
thank you good sire! lol i now will no longer be struggling hahahaha
Thank you for this! I've almost thrown my back out loading and unloading plates so much appreciated. Especially with all these sanitizers ruining the metal and making it even more difficult to glide the plates off.
I love seeing efficient ways of doing things.
Thank you for teaching me how to do this. I really needed it!! You the Man!
Thank you. I have been using "preloaded" bars, but they are difficult to deal with as my strength has increased. I'll feel much more confident on my next deadlift day.
The doggo in the back is a VIBE! Chillin! Thanks for the vid!
WOW, never thought of sliding the bar out. Will do future.
I dropped the bar on my foot. It wasn’t injured too much. I googled to figure out how to unload the bar and this video has saved my life. Thank you. I was about to stop lifting 🤣
I am mind blown by this hack. Thank you.
Typically use the smith machine but have been wanting to move away from it. Felt super awkward unloading the plate and had some difficulty.
Very helpful thank you 😊
Videos almost done and I just noticed the pup!! So cute 😊!!
I'll never slam a bar down again without seeing your face 😂 thank you for the tip it wasn't intentional BTW. This is such a helpful video
It took me a full 2 and a half minutes to realise there was a dog in this video 🤣
Man, believe it or not the answer to a question like this is really one of the great things about utube. I truly wish you could of seen me, an "advanced beginner" trying to load the bar. Wow. What a mess.
This is a great video, thank you very much. Peace.
This video legit saved my life. Gonna share it with my grandma so she can try this at home

Thanks- sliding the barbell out from the plates was surprisingly novel and yet should be intuitive. I learned something!
It’s a 285 dollar bar that literally made to hold several hundred pounds. Falling a couple inches will not hurt it, I promise you.
2:16 I mean I’m saying you didn’t have to call me out in front of everyone! 😂😂
Knew there was a more efficient way to unload. Very cool, thanks a ton!
This is actually helpful
I kinda struggled with this and was wondering what was the best way to do these! I appreciate it! Thank you so much!
Hahahah I love reading the embarrassing comments 😂 great video!
That shirt is not too tight, it’s perfect
As a complete beginner I've been struggling for weeks getting the plates of the bar😂. Thanks for the video
Thank you ! I am watching to make sure I am still properly doing it right since I signed up to help at Strongman competition 😊
Thank you, I will try this way and share my experience
I recently just increased to 45# plates and felt so awkward trying to get them on and off the bar. Thank you for this video!
Oh my god. Beautiful. Will try this tomorrow
Seems like a simple video, but this really helped to understand better loading/unloading etiquette. Thank you.
doggo is so cute
Thank you for the video, im about to start going to the gym and dint wanna look stupid or ruin the equipment.
Im pretty new to working out and this helps a lot i struggled with loading a plate for deadlift
I’m gonna be going to the gym for the first time in my life and I have crippling social anxiety. So this was very helpful thank you.
You have crippling social anxiety but ur breasts are taking up half ur profile picture
Excellent video and cool dog chilling!
Omg when you slid the bar out…. Real lightbulb moment 😂 I’ve been an idiot
Thank you for showing us how to do this. i'm a beginner and was worried I was gonna clank the weights and look stupid in front of everyone. Tbh a lot of these seemengly small things are why people are intimidated to move from machines to barbells.
Same so thankful I watched this video. I am always so skeptical and don’t want to look awkward lol
L.O.L😂😂😂
THE SHIRT THING
Experience are far better than thinking how to do it better
thanks mate! i'll try it now!
2:28 aaaaaaaaaahaha. wow that was amazing. just slide the damn bar out. (i'm new, this was super helpful!)
I have a gym setup in my garage, when doing deadlifts I just use two car jack stands to rest the bar and slide the weight off.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was doing it the hard way and facing the plates the wrong way.
This is so easy...but so amazing at the same time..not sure why I never figured it out on my own 😅
tq for the video..this what im looking for
Good advice. Not to be that suitable for classic Olympic plates, however (as they're thicker). Anyway, again, good advice: short, clear, with "pros and cons" highlights.
Unloading the deadlift i my most dreaded finisher.
Great video, thanks brother!!
Thank youuu so much!! Now I don’t look so stupid af at the gym 😅
Before I learned this trick, I spent energy loading and was tired before my actual set. 😂😂😂
This probably just changed my life lmao
Yes your video was very good, I never really took time out to look at loading or unloading plates. Thanks
ALL THAT TIME THERE WAS A DOG BEHIND THE PLATES !! and great tips also
Really helpful
Haha! These videos get better and better! I think I've used every single one of those inefficient methods mentioned. Will definitely use this! Thanks!
Glad you found it useful, thanks for watching!
Love this video thanks
Thanks a lot! I learnt something new today that no one teachers (because they themselves don't know how to do it properly 💀)
Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
Struggled a lot today to unload those plates 😂 someone didn't re-racked the weight after completing his sets and just left it there 😡
Thank you
Definitely necessary don’t want to be breakin stuff!
Thank you so much for this video. I have been struggling with loading and unloading plates and was about to give up. It was taking me a long time to get the plates on and off. This really helps reduce the time I spam spending on the set-up and dismantle of the bar.
Thanks
I feel like the guy is a little unnecessarily aggressive/defensive 😂 but this is great!! I just started at a new gym and I'm used to handles on plates so I felt like an idiot trying to scoot them.
Thankyou ❤
wow really a genius, never thought you can just pull the bar out lol
did anyone else not notice the dog passed out in the back til 3/4 of the way through the video... or just me
would try this next time! thanks for the helpful tips
Omg! I learned a lot from this video today

Wow I totally looked dumb at the gym. Oh well, now I know how to do this
Nice tip 👍
Thank youuu
Thankyou
