thank you! You just saved me a big repair bill. My mower would start but only roll a foot or two and die out like it wasn't getting gas. Opened the hood and saw a tiny tear in the tube. Touched it to verify that was what I was seeing and it tore more. Really tender. Waiting for the mail to drop the tube off any minute now. While I'm at it I'll change the fuel pump and filter too. Mine is an older D130 but essentially the same. The repair shop would have charged me $135 an hour plus travel time and parts so I could have been nailed for nearly $300 for a very simple thing.
Dude you just saved my mind from “future” frustration. I never checked that little hose. I have changed out the fuel pump. I think I did that like 3 years ago. But I do change out the fuel filter once a year. All of these components are cheap to replace. THANK YOU.

I also have an LA145 and it has been hard to start. I have since replaced the fuel pump and this vacuum hose. While I was at it, I replaced the fuel filter, and spark plugs too. Of course after doing so the mower did take about 20~30 or cranking (far, far less time starting than prior to replacing the parts) before it started. Then a week went by and I try to start it up again and the struggle is real. Several attempts of cranking (4 to 6 times of long periods of cranking) before it finally started (runs great). Yes, the choke was one during initial start. I testing the fuel flow while cranking and I see fuel is pumping. Would you do a video of cleaning the carbonator on a LA145?
Yep I will do one eventually. But in that engine it is easier to just replace the carb they are cheap on Amazon. I suggest checking your valve clearances first though.
Check out my Briggs playlist. I am sure I have something. But if it is a newer one with the plastic inside the carb you are better off just buying a cheapo new one on Amazon
Sounds like that head is getting way too hot. Sometimes grass gets built up under the cover and in the engine fins. You may take the plastic piece off ant give it a pressure washing to blow all the crud off the motor
I have a similar situation. When I replaced the vacuum hose I did not destit properly it was getting dark and pushed the seating part all the way through . It appears to be tight but not seated properly will it work. I will try in the morning. I replac the straight tube cause it was dangling with hole wide open. It probably has some dirt in there as well.
Mine has a 17.5 briggs buy oil is going to the screen of the fuel pump I adjusted the valves new gasket and still it oil seeps out would it be the fuel pump?
My guess is the crank case is pressurized because the rings are worn out and causing oil to push through the tube on the valve cover. Or maybe you just have overfilled it with oil.
I'm going to clean the carburetor, i didn't have any fuel in my line when i replaced my fuel filter..I hate having to replaced these parts with other bad parts😔
