Thank you for creating an awesome channel . Even after all that company did , it was still a great 14yr run. Especially when I met associates from the leesport facility in Pennsylvania when their roof collapsed in the winter of 1994. We in Mansfield Massachusetts ended up being both a push and pull facility. That was a hectic 4 months. Lol.

I used to work at the Zayre DC in Mansfield Massachusetts. Worked their for 2yrs when Ames Bought Zayre in 1988. In 2002 when they went Chapter 7 or liquidation I had 14yrs with Ames at that time. However thank God we were unionized under the then Unite union, because Rocky Hill Connecticut was the home office, and those theives embezzled the Severace money we were to receive. However they failed . The head of the Unite union filed an injunction with the company and some people settled out for a partial settlement. Not me I wouldn't, in 2012 10 yrs yup 10 yrs after they closed I received my last severance check. Also when they made the announcement they were closing, the company never said anything, we all heard it on the RADIO YEAH RADIO on the way in to work the next morning. That's shameful. And now they will a second chance to screw over employees again. Beware This is true I swear on the Bible and my Right Hand to God. This is the truth whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.

I’m going to still hold on to my hope for any store that went out of business I hope at least one store or brand can make a comeback from the past especially Ames which closed back in October 2002. I’m gonna still hold on to my hope that we will here more info for the Ames department stores and hopefully something will happen in the Summer, I don’t care when they will reopen I just want it to be true and some kind of update from them.

Agreed! Yes, any true update would be nice. I am disappointed that most of the news channels that reported on this basically reported without checking sources. Anyone can get a domain name and throw up a few words on a site. Lets see what happens. Thanks for watching!

The great inflation has returned...retail is dead. Belks is in big trouble too. South Carolina still has manufacturing , agriculture, shellfish, seafood, real estate, construction 😮and tourism.

@@charlestonpinballarcadewell kinda, the income deficiency across the population is killing it.
Also most places are crap to work for, let me put it to you this way...
I have 20+ years in business and retail management, within the past month well, I now work from home! I'll never go back to the store, I especially will never go into management again!
PC commie crap is killing it too via coworkers whining and bosses using it to get rid of decent people.
there's all kinds of reasons why it's not really viable on a mass scale these days but here's two reasons...
      Scale of cost for one,
How much merchandise can I sell in what area and to those in how large of a surrounding area?
How much square footage do I need?
Too big and I'm shitting out tax/lease money for unprofitable space and eating merchandise, especially if incomes drop.
Too small and I'm losing my ass not being able to carry nearly every item in each department.
Sending who knows how many customers down to another store.
Just right? Is it real? Can it be possible?
      My answer::::
      F-NO!
You can never have it your way,
(this isn't burger king) but what you can do is, go with the amount that fits your overall size. Come up with creative ways of dealing with extra Merch.
Discount bins are always a big hit though definitely not original, but they do work.
      Second reason::::
Can I carry products that I know are going to sell?
How about other products that will have a better chance of selling in that particular area and/or surrounding areas??
No high tech needed here folks, nope no millions dollar data company needed either.
Business is war, understand that right now!
money throwing around is for the very stupid, whom only does what the pointy headed loser college professor said to do! That's actually how they got their degree.
No you just get out of the office, drive around. Shop other stores see what others are buying.
Drive through neighborhoods and see what they have outside with them.
      Let me ask you something.
When the Ford people saw that people ran right out and bout a big ass finned Chevy and they saw them selling them like hot cakes, what do you think they said?
They said, they just have big ass fins, they must make it more appealing, yet they knew underneath it all, everybody wanted what everyone else had!
That's where price points come in.
      Bonus....
I'm sure you heard the news that...
If you have $5 and Chuck Norris has $5, he's still got more money than you.
Well that maybe true Chuck is a great guy,
But business doesn't work like that.
If store x is charging blah then I need to go down to meh!
The customer does not really care where they bought the food from, they just need a price point that speaks to them!
If everyone in town is at the same or near the same price, then the customer truly doesn't give a shit where he or she got the item.
Then they work out which store is closer and or near a restaurant then they pick that one and chances are it's not your store!
So sell product stay (alap)... as low as possible. Offer a bundle deal.
So by now you wonder wtf is he on about in short....
1.Square footage can make or brake a business.
      2. Understand your customers, not just based on numbers showing the amounts of shit you've sold over whatever timeframe...
No no, you need too do away with the one size fits all bullshit and carry what will sell and Taylor that location to that area!
One size fits all has pissed off most people.
The the effing store manager be the %®%¥¥®%%ing be the store manager!
Let's make the "Manager's special" sign mean something again. They'd know their area and should definitely know or understand what would sell and what doesn't.
When a customer asks if we carry blah and we don't stock it at that time, make note and then perhaps next time we'll have it in stock.
      Going sballers makes this possible!

Has a retailer like them ever come back? I don't think so, and even if it did it wouldn't be the same people running it. It would never have the same feel to the shoping experience. Look at the last 3 kmarts. I've seen videos, and that is NOT Kmart as we knew it.

I can’t think of any in the eastern part of the country. An example that came back from the absolute last moments before the end has been Boscovs. Al Boscov retired and supposedly the company was ran into the ground by a younger family member. Al had to come out of retirement and pull it from the edge of death. They’re hanging strong because they aren’t leveraged to the point most other retailers are in the world today.
