Any new signs up saying “sorry, closed”? The pink walkway mats were still on the ground and the place has been closed for months. One of the security guards posted in my video that the company that managed the show and the mart closed or went bankrupt. Sad, but they never changed the show in the theater from what people have said. If someone goes once or twice, there’s no reason to go back again and repeat vacationers is what Myrtle is every year.

I think the place is Retro Active. It’s still open, but I really didn’t dig that’s it’s all reproduction junk.

In addition. Probably had to pay Comcast Universal for the merchandise as well. Most of the things I have seen in there, are sold in Universal Orlando. So they probably had to pay Disney and Comcast Universal.

@@thatpart snagged those cool signs I mentioned in the video. The garden shop sign is really big and reminded me of the old sign on the outside of Kmart prisons but hand painted goodness! Other than that, I will wait another week or two to maybe snag some tools if anything is left.

True Value seems to be one of the more flexible brands that allow the store owners to have their own look and feel versus a strict plan-o-gram. I think being a True Value location is beneficial for the owners of the stores because they have a buying source for better prices shared with all the other owners. Similar to a buying syndicate. If you ever see an independent appliance store and you see a “brand source” logo, that’s similar. It’s a buying syndicate that multiple independent stores join to be able to have access to the buying power of having multiple stores buying from the same source. This type of set up is probably the only way mom and pops have hung in there when there’s a big box store within a few miles.

I have 1 hour flabs!😂 Luckily the developer seems to really be engaged with the town to make this property become something good rather than rot away. I would have rather seen the mall saved and full of stores but at least it’s not becoming an Amazon warehouse. I think Laserbeak approves!🎉

@@charlestonpinballarcade Laserbeak is a great name BTW. Amazon warehouses and even worse, an empty overgrown lot. The former San Jacinto Mall near me is now an overgrown lot. The big plans have not come to fruition and the mall was killed off to build the outdoor big box center that may never come. Pretty sad considering a very popular Bucees is down the highway. The rest of the retail district down the street from the mall property is thriving with a lot of the old mall stores now in regular shopping centers. Even Kohls built a new store across the street from the mall and would have been a strong anchor for the new development. JCPenney and Macy's were going to stay for the redevelopment, but had a change of heart and left. Now there is nothing left except for the highway sign and outparcel restaurants.

⁠@@jeee1074Sal did a great video at the San Jacinto mall several years ago! With the beaches close, Myrtle Beach up the highway and lots of people moving to SC, this property was perfect for redevelopment but I think the property was 4 separate pieces owned by a family and getting them to all agree on a deal was supposedly a tough task.

Kwik Mart is at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach SC

Yea, I’m not sure who actually ran this location in Myrtle, but it was here for about 6 years. The theater and the mart seemed to be some type of separate licensing deal with another entity because you don’t really see a studio or production company name plastered everywhere.

@@sengchon a few people have mentioned lease cost issues, some folks have mentioned possible bankruptcy for the company that owned the rights to have this here. It seems that they were in operation one day and gone the next. The pink floor mats are still on the ground outside and there’s hundreds of fingerprints and face prints all over the windows. Sad. 😢

Thanks for watching and the info! I have a feeling sales in the mart and tickets for the show probably fell off after a while. Myrtle is a tough town for attractions to keep vacationers coming back again and again. This might have been one of those places that people went to and then didn’t really feel a need to go again.

@@crazyadventuresandreviewsRed Bank where the stash is located is a pretty cool town. I used to go to a bar there called “chubbys”. The quick stop is in Leonardo on the northern part of the Jersey shore. US1 Flea Market in Mallrats was demolished years ago and is now a huge cinema.

Yea, definitely. I never saw the inside of the mall when it was open. It looked really nice in many dead mall videos.

A few of the old signs are left in Texas. There is one about 3 hours away from me in Waco.
