In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun...The others will die by his sword.
Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun - the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.

well this was old portuguese i guess, much more similar to spanish
+Lusitões I speak both spanish and portuguese, and that words arent in portuguese, but i certainly never heard the words ´´encubertados´´ and ´´besteiros´´ in portuguese (and obviously not in spanish) because, well, not common words, (anyways sounds like a portuguese words to me), but ´´aventureiros´´, of course is a portuguese word.
´´Encubertados´´ in spanish= Encubiertos
´´Besteiros´´ = Ballesteros
´´Aventureiros´´= Aventureros
Your name is in portuguese, so, i think you are a native portuguese speaker or descendant (Brazil, Portugal, Angola, etc); so, Why did you say that? That words are clearly in portuguese...
I am from Venezuela (son of portuguese mother and father), because that i know spanish (real native language), and portuguese, learned for obvious reasons (well, half learned, i only understand it, but i dont have any good gramatical knowledge).
And yes, rodeleros is in clearly spanish, i didn't mention it because that, is in clearly spanish.
And again, yes, i google it and encubertados is actually a spanish word, but i never heard it, i thought it
wasn´t spanish because the translation of ´´covered´´ is ´´A cubierto´´ , and again, no one use that word, the word that is used is ´´Encubierto´´ , whith same meaning. Thanks for making me realize that.

But the other words are in portuguese, and the reason of spanish words is because ´´influence´´ of Spain; are words that i suposse were learned from there and didn't change. (Like tercios). Correct me if i'm wrong, please.

here is a interesting bit of history, there was a time when the japanese tried to take over a portuguese ship, this ship was "only" a merchant ship, but then again at that time portugal was already able to built 4000ton ships while most european countries relied on 500ton ships and so even a portuguese merchant ship imposed respect
that did not stop the japanese who swarmed them with hundreads of their sailing vessels as well as hundreads of soldiers but they were not prepared to what would happen, most of the vessels were sunk by cannon fire and the japanese simply could not gain a foothold on the ship due to superior weanponry despite far outnumbering the portuguese sailors
still they were lucky, had it been a protuguese dedicated warship or even one of their hybrid merchant/warships and the losses would definitly be much larger on the japanese side
much, much later the japanese actually managed to take over a portuguese merchant ship, although it was a smaller ship with 40 or so sailors on board

@@tvnetworks6610 The Portuguese merchant ships that they used during this time were called naus, these were huge ships armed with cannons to protect from pirates, so don't be surprised with boats with archers being crushed by these ships.

They really should add yari wall to the pikemen. Maybe make them work just as a bit more powerful yari ashigaru. They do cost more to train and maintain.

They'd probably become unbeatable, but I agree that it makes 0 sense to have a Pike unit that can't actually use a Pike formation.

Aldi Prambarwara, Portuguese agents, portuguese buildings, redone portuguese tree of technologies (they don't use "Bushido" or "Way of Chi"), cut off stronghold samurai (it is weird) and many-many other small, but annoying things.
how many of those things you can change? things like stronghold samurai and tech tree could be hard code in.

Donkey, I'd recommend that you give up on your "artillery is shit" doctrine for this campaign, as the 2 units Portugal has are actually really good (culverins are pretty much FOTS artillery with lower accuracy). I'd also recommend lots of Besteiros and Musketeers, since they kill people as fast as Bow Monks (don't let the stats fool you, they carried me all the way to Kyoto).
I was definitely going to try them out anyway, but it's good to hear that they're not shit.

The Pike and shot was used exactly because It was OP in the time, so even if for balance reasons i still think It was wrong to not allow pike wall
Btw, the reason why the Portuguese are given big noses in Japanese traditional art is because that is how East Asians stereotype Europeans. Big noses is a common stereotype just how Westerners give East Asians thin eyes.
I'd argue that the Japanese Units are Levys, much like how Rome, the Greek City States, and Carthage recruited various soldiers that weren't from their people.
Excluding the Samurai class and not to forget these time periords are like a 1700 years apart and also Greeks and Carthage recruited foreign mercenaries. (5 year old ocmment be like)

I played this mod for a few turns, Hizen is owned by the Shoni or the Ouchi, however, when i played the Sagara (clan just to the south of Hizen) declared war and was gonna take it. So overall it just depends on your campaign.

I edited the files so you can form Pike wall with pikemen.....and pike square. You just need a pack file manager, and you can edit the stats and abilities of any unit. I also gave my pikemen more melee defense, and slightly more armor, so they're roughly equivalent....maybe a bit better than Yari Samurai.

Lol, in real life there would be only like 300 men to attack with, while another 400 has to guard the province.
Funny trivia about the Tercos: It is actually "Terços", with the Ç from the Portuguese alphabet. Which sounds of S, so it is pronounced TERSOS (but don't worry about it).
And it reminds me of the Rosary which is often called, informally, "the terço (terso)" by the people or the catholic...
Don't know the official origin of unit name though, but it may have influence on it since the Portuguese and the Spanish were pretty devout catholics.

Spain did not have jurisdiction over Portuguese colonies... ever. And the portuguese court and kingdom still existed and acted by itself. It was just required to join efforts with Spain.
it acted by itself on paper, Filipe I of Portugal declared no spanish officers took control of portuguese positions, yet, in Filipe II of Portugal time spanish officers took control of portuguese positions thus leading to spain being favoured. The ''union'' of portugal and spain also led portugal to lose many territories in the east by being forced to join spain's wars against other europeans

Second: literally everything on the homepage except for the Weapons of the Wasteland series is related to Total War.

Thou Portugal didnt invaded Japan only fought on water against the holland due to we were at war and the dutch wanted land for themselves and broke the Tordesilhas agreement
Portugal and Spain although brothers were diferent and had diferent ways to indigenous people. Due to the aztecs in central america Spanish sought to conquer them since their pagan gods were blood drikers and they believed the aztec were demon worshipers
Portugal though seeked a dominion of their colonies by trade and by integrate the indigenous into Portuguese society easier to have vassals to help defend colonies since England had 10 times more men than portuguese and the same Portuguese controlled due to diplomatic and commerce, what happened to the indigenous in Brasil was when the caravels arrived many of the tribes decided to join and help the portuguese, others as the portuguese allied with their old rivals declared war on portuguese too, also there was cannibals that atacked idiscriminatly.
And in the battle of riu. Portuguese allide to temimino tribe that were almost destroyed when the tamoio tribe wanted temiminos for "supper" and also joined forces with the Franks to destroy the temiminos, the portuguese came at rescue and expelled French from a Brasilian island.
As for the bandeirantes were mercenaries vollunteered, to go on their own wich had indigenous, portuguese, ex-slaves from Africa and mix people, they atacked the rival tribes from those who joined the mercenary army and sold the defeated to the Portuguese and in exchance they had more guns and more power to the portuguese allied tribes.
Same on Africa, the Congo were the biggest affrican kingdom that made more slaves and the bantu tribes. When they met the Portuguese they seeked to be friends since they advanced their knoledge teachin them to read, write, catolicism, building tecniques and wanted to buy guns, european clothing, spices to show their power to rival tribes and of course sold many slaves for that.
At the end we Portuguese gained the fame of slaver makers instead slaver traders that Africa in war between old kingdoms older than Portugal that every culture made slaves, and still today Africa remains the Continent that keeps making more slaves than every other in the world today

Hey Donkey, which of your campaigns would you say was the hardest and most intense/ interesting (among all games, not just Shogun 2)?

I don't know why they try to prevent pikemen from being op. Isn't that the point of the Portuguese faction? They should be very powerful, but very expensive, and there should be a limit to how many you can recruit.

Every Empire would have to give a little glory to the local nobility, especially one so far away as Portugal from Japan. If you just went around stripping powerful people of their stuff, you'd get a rebellion.
Besides, there's no way you'd be able to keep purely Portuguese men in your military *or* your command structure this far from home. Might as well get a few local faces in charge.

Nvm, Apparently On TV It Lets Me Go To 1080p But Here It Asks For Premium To Do The Same Thing, On All The Other Episodes It Dosen't.
Yeah, this is one of those weird videos that isn't processed properly for some reason. I can go 1080p on my phone, but on PC it's 360p or 1080p premium. Either way I can't reupload it though, this video has been deleted off my hard drive for 7 years. No point keeping videos around once they're uploaded, that would be 1000s of terabytes by now if I kept everything, I don't have the space for that :P

All the Shogun I play ends up on RUclips anyway, so it'd be a pointless endeavor. Either way the answer is no though, I don't accept friend invites on Steam from subscribers anymore. I used to have a massive list of people who never spoke to me anyway, seemed pointless. Which is why I made the Discord, feel free to join that if you want, it's pretty active and I'm on it all day as well.
