  • 1UP Xtreme Duty Rack Review - Capable of Hauling Two 150lb E Fat Bikes!
Do you have a heavy e bike? Or a huge Fatbike? Perhaps a full suspension e fat bike? Then the 1UP Xtreme Duty Rack is for you. This beast of a rack is hand made in the USA and is made for serious off road use.
I mounted our QuietKat Ibex full suspension e fat bike on the rack with ease. We also cover all the accessories for the Xtreme Duty rack - regular and fat bike wheel chocks, ramp, and add on tray.

I am very impressed with the build quality having just received my XD set for two bikes. With the order I also putchased the long ramp, two fat tire chocks, special shim for 2.5" to 2" receiver adapter, and 2 sets of 6.7 inch wheel pin locks.
I slide my fat tire wheel chock off the installed ratchet rail and close the arms all the way down and then install the chocks so the arm is not elevated as you have.... takes only seconds to do. Great Video and review.... I came upon your video after I did some research and ordered....
I first thought about the QucikrStuff Mach 2 rack, but they have 4 to 6 months back orders and I am not a fan of all the tool-less latches, levers, and locking mechanisms. Too many points of potential reliability concerns . More parts equals more issues. The 1Up XD is a solid reliable design, and should be more vibration free securing with bolts at the various swing transition joints instead of tool-less connections that depend on clearances to operate. All those tool-less points will require more maintenance of keeping them clean and lubricated as well. The cost is comparable between the two. 1Up has inventory of the XD at my time of order in early February 2024 so that was a plus form me also.
Functionally both will do the job.... my many years of engineering in aerospace industry, has me questioning the tool less approach unless I can review cycle test data that proves reliably. A quick search did reveal that information during my research. So the 1Up XD was the logical choice for me.

Thanks for sharing the very helpful intel! We have a few aerospace engineers on our Engearment Team and they are the best at testing and providing insights. I see where you are coming from :) I really appreciate you taking the time to provide this helful note. And I am really glad that you are happy with the bike rack and set up. It has been very sturdy for us and is treating us well too. Take care!

Can you show hopw this system would work with a bike (Aventon) with fenders?

How tall are your tires? I have 26 inch rim 4.9 fat tire, they are almost 31 inches tall, my current 1up Super Duty double arms are too short to secure the tires. I looked at QUIKR, but believe same issue with them. Thanks.

I just purchased the Ride1Up Revv1, which is 93lbs. I've been looking for a hitch bike rack that can handle that kind of load. Thanks for the video.

Does the arm where you put the fat bike go all the way down with the wheel choke?

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  10 месяцев назад

It did not go all the way down in one motion. I removed the choke, lowered the arm, then put the choke back on. That worked well.

Your video suggests that this rack just locks into place with the indexing plunger. There are also 2 socket head bolts that need to be loosened with the hex tool for lowering the racks and then retightened again once lowered to lock the racks in position (More of a pain that the other models' locking mechanisms, but certainly rugged). If you are only using the indexing pin; this will fail when you hit a bump and you'll lose your bikes- possibly hurt somebody or worse. Totally understable because the 1up instructions are horrible!!

The enclosed instructions are truly inadequate, and do not match the online instructions. You did not mention the socket bolts that are necessary for the ramp stabilization, and were NOT included on my ramp.
      Thanks.

Yeah ,the more I've thought about it; I feel a bit misled by this video and 1up. It is sturdy if set up properly. I've seen this misinformation show up on other reviews regarding the locking pin. I think it's a matter of time before 1up and maybe these sites start getting sued for tragedies.

Here's a way better review from a guy that demonstrates the socket head bolts and seems to know what his talking about. They are a pain in the butt, but makes the rack safer: ruclips.net/video/poUhX-4d928/видео.html

I’m building up one of these racks currently… instructions are very inadequate and the hitch portion of the rack that the tray mounts to was assembled backwards from the factory. Hmmmm
