    I wanted to make jambalaya for dinner tonight and came across ur video. I really liked ur way of baking it, instead of doing it on the stove top. I tried that method & it came out great!! I think I'm gonna bake it from now on. Thanks.

    Delishious!!! I am going to try your receipe, ...try rinsing your onion under hot water before you cut it, dont dry it off just cut it wet, the water cuts down on the fine spray mist of the onion :)

    I will probably try mine with okra. Btw, I know this is a food channel Ms. Lola but could I get a head wrap tutorial? Sometimes I do it well and sometimes I don't.

    • @cheflolaskitchen
      @cheflolaskitchen  5 лет назад

      Okra is a great addition! ... I love head wraps but it’s so sad I’m not too good with it . It took me about 4 to 5 attempts to get this one right and this happens to me each time I try. If I succeed in mastering it, I will be happy to share. 😆

    I love how it came out, I have never tried jambalaya but I will love to try it someday.
    But why is it called jambalaya?

    • @cheflolaskitchen
      @cheflolaskitchen  5 лет назад

      Thanks for your kind words 🙏.... Jambalaya has a lot of history behind it. No one knows the exact meaning of the name since the dish has it’s origin from West Africa, France, and Spain. Some say jambalaya means jumbled (mixed up) and others have different things to say about it...it’s complicated 😂

    A lot of flavor from jambalaya comes from using smoked sausage. And the thyme, and creole/cajun seasoning. And the vegetables for jambalaya are cut smaller, no bigger than the rice. It's a nice recipe though.

    Pls what is the difference between jambalaya rice and jollof rice and what is the green stuff you sprinkle on the rice after cooking it?

    • @cheflolaskitchen
      @cheflolaskitchen  5 лет назад +1

      Jambalaya and Jollof rice are cousins 😆. Jambalaya is native to the creole/Cajun which means it has some of it’s origin from the African cuisine (jollof rice). I hope that helps?

    • @cheflolaskitchen

    Pls why coconut oil? Will it give them a coconuty flavour?

    • @loverofmysoul8742
      @loverofmysoul8742 5 лет назад

      If you use refined coconut oil, there will be no coconut flavor, at least this has been my experience.

    • @cheflolaskitchen
      @cheflolaskitchen  5 лет назад

      I have no special reason, I always cook with what I have at home. I only had olive oil and coconut oil at the time I was making the video and I chose to use coconut oil.
