    We were stationed at Mildenhall and really never heard much about crime problems you mentioned. You didn’t mention Thetford as an option. We really enjoyed living there with our kids attending Brit school. Lots of things to enjoy with a fairly minor commute. We too used to enjoy going to Bury.

    I’ve been told the roads from Ely to Mildenhall is dangerous during the winter time…But we fell in love with the town…and that cathedral is breathtaking! 😊

    I was stationed at RAF Moldyhole (Mildenhall). We lived about 15 minutes from base at Kennett Hall. It was a massive manor house that had been divided into apartments.

    Really informative and helpful, thank you. I have lived in West Suffolk for around 10 years am not from the county and would say people are friendly and welcoming. A suggestion might be to reach out in the area you are in and get involved, perhaps alocal church that you would feel at home attending, or an amatueur dramatic society, for mums (moms) there may be a group that meets regularly. We know you might only be PCSing for a few years but the service people I have met I have forged great friendships with that have continued once the duty has been completed and you're on your way to your next posting!

    Nice video. Just something to add, Red Lodge had a train station less than 2 miles away in the neighbouring village of Kennett, with routes going to Ipswich and Cambridge

    It's been great to have you guys over here, you've now become proper British Americans ! 😉 We thought you lived on the base. We knew your friends Carl & family (with baby Porter) lived in a village but not you two ...how is Carl & family, are they all ok ? ..we did follow them on youtube as well until they left. All the best for the future. 👍

    My son is stationed at Lackenheath and we are US citizens, he is just 18. He just arrived 10 days ago, so now he is going through paperwork to get his DL in England. He has temporary accommodations on Lackenheath, but July 8th he will be moved to Mildenhall. Any advice for the Mom of a newbie?? He says he needs a car...does he? Thank you for your informative video, y'all are so cute together and easy to listen to. XOXO Big Texas Mom

      Luckily the bases are only about 10 minutes from each other and what one base doesn’t have, the other does. He will most definitely need a car, or share with someone who does. (We have more PCSing videos, some about cars and base hotels.) The bases are kind of in the countryside, so riding bikes or walking can be pretty dangerous.
      Just keep in mind that everyone stationed at both of these bases are going through the same thing your son is, it makes for quick and strong friendships. Hope you make plans to visit him soon!

    Where do the olde single airman live?

  • @PerryVillanueva
    @PerryVillanueva 6 месяцев назад

    I have a question. What do you know about single pilots, in their late twenties, on how they live? Is there a life style that is really different from the married pilots? Where do they usually live - base housing or off base? Do they bring their POVs or they buy cars in England? If you know such a pilot, I would not mind communicating (email) with him or her. The reason why I am asking is because I am writing a realistic romance story that takes place in England, between a British nurse and an American pilot stationed at RAF Lakenheath.

    Complaining about the noise on an Air Base is bonkers. In the UK it is not allowed to wear uniform off camp. It has been that way since the early 1980’s when the IRA were killing Military Personnel. As for targeting Americans. What planet are you on? Zog.

    • @debo398

      My father was stationed in the UK in the 1960s...wearing uniforms were not permitted off duty even then.

    I'd suggest live on Base ,because you don't get power cuts on a American military Base .now if you Live off Base in Britain 🇬🇧, you maybe subject to Power cuts ✂️, this Winter.

      They (mainly the BBC) say the lights will go off every winter, have done since 1975. I suppose one year they will be proved right.

    To be a victim of crime is guaranteed to make you very very angry at the low life who do these things. If, and it's a very big if, the perpetrator/s are caught, then the punishment they're given (thanks to justice system) is usually wildly insufficient. But if you're targeted for crime purely because you happen to be American, then that makes me ashamed to be British.
