When I was a kid in the 1960s the beach in Douglas was krpt beautifully clean. Every day in the summer it would be full of holidaymakers on deck chairs. Theres were kiosks that sold tea and coffee. You paud a deposit on a tray and took away a large pot of tea, hot water, milk, sugar and cups and saucers etc. You got your deposit back when you returned everything. Every morning the Salvation Army held Joyful Juniors activity sessions for kids to attend!

I eat Weetabix with milk, but i out it at the top of the bowl with other cereals underneath it, so it only gets a bit of the milk, so it softens but doesn't just go to mush.

I noticed a lot of people talking about the Tesco Club Card and i agree if you're going to be here for a while i would get one definitely worth it. A few months ago i decided i wanted to buy an air fryer i shopped around and found they were quite pricey. I had a look in my local tesco and i'm so glad i did. I found a Tower air fryer for £59 club card price £39 i had £10 club card vouchers which needed to be used up so all in all i got a really good bargain an air fryer from Tesco for £29!!!! I shop at Tesco regularly because my Tesco is about a 10 to 15 mins walk from my house (downhill) i live in a hilly area. On my doorststep (walking distance) i have 4 supermarkets all within walking distance. Aforementioned Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Scotmid coop. Very convenient for me as I'm not a driver so when i do my weekly shop i usually walk to either Tescos or Morrisons and sometimes Aldi to do my shop. So convenient i understand in the US everything is so far apart and you really need a car very few people use public transport. Which is the opposite here in the UK i use public transport all the time and its so super easy and convenient and also very regular when i live in Edinburgh if you have to wait for a bus to go somewhere your waiting time would be about 10 to 15 minutes once your on the bus the seats are quite comfy and you also have usb outlets for your phones and best of all free wifi! To get anywhere on the bus in Edinburgh would take less than an hour (not sure about bigger cities. Or country routes.) again i find super convenient. Also from Edinburgh if you want to go further afield outside the city itself we have excellent public transport that will take you anywhere you want to go if you want to go to North Berwick or Dunbar Lothian Country buses run an excellent service to those towns on the east coast with fantastic views of the villages as you pass by if you like golf i think its eithed the North Berwick bus or Dunbar bus one of them anyway passes through Muirfield golf club i think the open is held their each year i believe. Or you can either get the bus or train and take a trip to the beautiful Scottish Borders and visit Melrose home of the Melross Sevens seven aside rugby and the Abbey. Travelling there is by bus or train are equally beautiful. Or further up to The Kingdom of Fife to North Queensferry or to Dunfermline visit the abbey. Ot to St Andrews home of golf and where Prince William and Catherine went to University is a nice little town. Or on to Dundee they have the new Tate Modern there. There are other places within easy travelling distance from Edinburgh using public transport like the bus or the train if any American chosd to come to Scotland i would recommend you using public transport it's safe and very convenient and inexpensive.

Luckily the bases are only about 10 minutes from each other and what one base doesn’t have, the other does. He will most definitely need a car, or share with someone who does. (We have more PCSing videos, some about cars and base hotels.) The bases are kind of in the countryside, so riding bikes or walking can be pretty dangerous. Just keep in mind that everyone stationed at both of these bases are going through the same thing your son is, it makes for quick and strong friendships. Hope you make plans to visit him soon!

I'm sorry, 'what do British women do to get ready, when there's no outlets and the only room that COMES with a mirror doesn't have an outlet to do your hear in?'. The bathroom doesn't come with a mirror in, you buy one and put one in, just like you can for any room of the house, such as a hallway or a bedroom. Oh ye', that room with the bed in, with all your clothes, etc... Now you mention there are sockets near water outlets elsewhere, but those other rooms don't get steamed up and involve you being bear foot and likely naked in them. Two taps is an old thing where the cold tap is potable, drinkable water and the hot water can't be guaranteed to be drinkable as the water as held in a tank in the loft that was open and would empty into the boiler to be heated up. Here's the thing, that thing to the rear left, is a plug, it goes in the hole, just like a bath, think of it as a bath for your hands and face. Washers are in the kitchen because they draw a higher current, like the other devices, the room is set up for higher current appliances plus there is already water inlets and waste water outlets to carry the waste water away. Some, few houses have utility rooms to put these appliances in and so they sit in the kitchen. In some European countries the washing machine is in the bathroom. A lot of what you mention is down to size and costs, size in that our houses are old, many built when America just got independence and that space is at a premium here. Costs as in extra appliances cost money, running them cost money, maintenance of these appliances that may not get used often. Towards the end of the video it really sounds like you're either wanting or expecting the U.K. to just be U.S.A. 2.0. The U.K. isn't the outlier here, it's the U.S.A. like if you want ice, ask for it, 'no drinking fountains, they are everywhere in the United States, WERE NOT THE UNITED STATES want water ask for it, floors - it's America that ground floor is the first floor, extremely few other places do it that way, one of 'one of the few countries that drive on the left (that few being 64, as opposed to 163 that drive on the right), the road conditions aren't great in many places (as many in the U.S.A. aren't either), parking spaces, again, space is at a premium, parking in the U.S. is plentiful, why, because your cities, towns, 'stroads' are geared up for cars, the pedestrian is an afterthought, many places if you're seen walking at the side of the road, people will stop and ask what you are doing. Your base commanding officers need to be told that service personnel stationed in the U.K. should attend a two week induction, because every American that has an account videoing their move to the U.K. has the same questions and irks. I truly and honestly feel that any North American coming to live for any length of time in the U.K. should be paired with a local native Brit

I have a question. What do you know about single pilots, in their late twenties, on how they live? Is there a life style that is really different from the married pilots? Where do they usually live - base housing or off base? Do they bring their POVs or they buy cars in England? If you know such a pilot, I would not mind communicating (email) with him or her. The reason why I am asking is because I am writing a realistic romance story that takes place in England, between a British nurse and an American pilot stationed at RAF Lakenheath.

When I was stationed at RAF Fairford in May 2007 to May 2009 , I always had to drive all the way there it took at least three to four hours but it was worth the trip if you was not driving to RAF Alconbury but you would always go to the Burger King and Tacobell on the Lakenheath side. The kabob shops we had in Fairford were just like ordering McDonalds and Burger King. Only difference I was 22 and 23 at the time. They always had very pretty female service clerks who worked the cash register and I remember trying to get with one of them. Unfortunately no cigar but the Commissary is a little bigger. We did buy meats there that we couldn't get at RAF Fairford so it was worth the trip. Over all I remember Lakenheaths fuel station is right by the Commissary so, where Mildenhall had there was perfect within the BX. How many remember the 3rd Air Force driving course we had to undergo before being allowed to drive in Britain. I remember getting that and you felt like you was let loose to explore. I was able to bring my vehicle from the states as some Brits liked it and others hated it. But I was the only single Airman at the time with a truck so I hauled a lot of stuff on the base and for he locals and Airman when people needed help. But I miss it there. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Always will cherish that
