I threw a 12-6 curveball when I was younger to kind of get around it. Real nasty pitch, no real snapping of the elbow. Circle change works good to for an off speed in Little League. 100% agree focus fastball. I didn’t have a ton of speed but I could hit spots pretty reliably and at that age that’s all that matters. Can you throw a strike when you want to, can you throw a ball when you want to.
Only as strong as your weakest link...adding a bunch of weak links to your repertoire doesn't make you better. Get things were they need to be and add to it...which is basically what Trevor is saying. Curveballs didn't hurt me, but I lost all my athletic scholarships that were in the pipeline to a very preventable injury associated with strengthing my weak links...dont rush development
I started throwing a spike curve at 10, but threw it correctly because my dad was a pitcher in D1 college. Nothing happened, even had an MRI for unrelated reasons and they said it was surprising clean. If you can throw it right it’s safe
When I was 11 I started throwing breaking balls and my arm is fine 4 years later, but my fastball is easily my best pitch and when your 11 or 12 just work on getting a really good fastball and then a changeup and then if you throw it correctly a curve
I threw curveballs all through little league. Got many compliments during that time. I had the best arm on my high school team, but my coach had me play shortstop and then when I was moved to center field I got bored and ended up quitting for other sports (which I regret) arms fine though.
started throwing a curve at age 11 also. dealt with off and on elbow trouble from about ages 14-18, then at 18 i blew out my shoulder. learn a change up kids😂😂😂
@@BauerOutage I had sent a message to your merch website about a month or so ago. I don't know if that gets back to you or not. Also, is the website open to buy stuff again?
Is very important what he's saying, throw correctly... I had fastball, changeup and cutter, and the one I didn't learn how to throw was the fastball with a good mechanic, now my elbow is done and my carrer is over long time ago, I wish these videos would be ten years ago, but hopefully young people will have all this knowledge.
When I was in high school I had problems with velo off the mound but was fine (mid-high 80's) on flat ground from 3rd. I wish I focused more on velo then my 2 seam-changeup mix
Fastball and change up only until high school. Learning to spot pitches and change velocity are more important than striking out a random 12-year old. Bonus: you get to let your arm mature. Dr. Andrews' rule was no breaking stuff till you are shaving.
Thats a lot of torque on a what was probably a small body at 13. Id say it probably wasnt the breaking stuff but mechanics. Bad mechanics plus tons of torque equals fucked up arm.
I learned how to throw a curveball when I was like 11/12. And when I was 15 in high school my coach then stopped letting me throw it. It was the easiest pitch for me to locate.
Should kids throw curves and sliders? They say that the twist from your wrist will hurt your arm. I’m wondering if that is true because I’m 10 and my sliders are my strikeout pitches and they are nasty.
If he's that small and is really throwing 50 (the ball will wizz at 50mph and thats absolutely nuts for a 7 year old) then you NEED to keep him away from anything but a fastball and change up. 50mph coming from a tiny body means he has a natural gift to create torque...but mechanics for a curveball do not come naturally to anyone. If he generates a lot of torque and you mix that with bad mechanics at an age where he has no muscle taking the load of his joints you are going to obliterate his arm.
After this past season if I had been Trevor I doubt that I would feel like helping anyone or for sure not promoting MLB so this kind of proves what kind on man Trevor really is and still trying to teach the fans by sharing what he knows. I wish he had stayed in Cincinnati and would come back to Cincinnati. I am sure part of the reason he signed with LA was he wanted to go back home and play the game in front of family and wanted to play on front of his hometown fans for his hometown team but the way so many LA fans have already convicted him without any evidence at all they don't deserve a talent like Trevor Bauer. Innocent till proven guilty beyond doubt is the standard of the law and their is no evidence that I have heard or seen written that he is guilty. What goes on behind closed doors between two consenting adults is not a crime and its none of anyone's business not even the governments and the courts. The text message said she consented and wanted more of it and wanted more pain. The only reason it seems she is trying to press charges against Trevor is the $$$$ and she knows Trevor has lots of that and if Trevor was guilty he would have paid her off but since he is not guilty he is going to prove it as he should. As bad as I hate sex offenders I also hate anyone that makes false accusations that can and does ruin someone's life and often does even as much.

You summed up what he said in a sentance

The man, the myth and the legend is back!
Hey Trev! This was my question and I really appreciate you answering.
Happy to help!

@@BauerOutage hi
My coach wouldn’t let me know a curveball until I had arm pitch hair. So I was fastball and change up

Love the vids!

Love you man! Hope you are doing good, miss you on the mound
Trevor is the hardest hitter!
Cause he started dropping bangers again! Great videos so far on Trev’s return to YT!!

thank you trevor bauer....that was cool.
free trevor 💯
best baseball player I've ever known threw 70s at the age of 13 and threw breaking balls. Ended his career

If your kid hasn't hit puberty yet just worry about throwing strikes...
Love the content.
As a former breaking ball throwing kid, my elbow and shoulder and everything is all fine.
Trev how can I release my change up?
Bauer can u make a vid on all the pitchers use and how to do them if able I would love to know I watch baseball it's too quick to understand

They say that the twist from your wrist will hurt your arm.
I’m wondering if that is true because I’m 10 and my sliders are my strikeout pitches and they are nasty.
Going through this now with my 12 year old kids can't catch up to his fast ball and gives up most hits on curves because of lower speed
Best way to film pitching. Like you said u set up a camera. What’s the best way to do it at home?
I asked this question on stream let’s go he read my question
When I was little all I would throw would be curveballs
And it was all natural
What about backdoor sliders?
are you releasing merch soon
Former Red Sox great Bill Lee say the same thing. Learn to throw correctly a curve ball at a young age.
I think it depends on arm strength. My kid is 7 throws over 50mph he only has to throw one pitch right now
Nah it dosnt just cuz someone isn’t as good as other pitchers dosnt mean they should kill there arm at a very young age
I hear ya man

Ima say no, not unless taught recover and proper way
We miss bauer

Easy answer: No they shouldn’t
Will your buddy Gerrit Cole be good again?
Lol
i threw a curve when i was 8 and i still do at 12 and personally a pitcher without breaking balls at my level will get crushed
