To share additional information about 120Hz (144Hz) vs. 4K: Our months' of labs tests and focus-group studies guided our trade-off decision to go 4K@60fps over HD@144fps, that the added processing power is best allocated to doing 4K over doing 120fps/144fps for optimal experience. For achieving 4K & 120Hz, we can wait for the next generation CPUs on the horizon to become affordable.
Thanks PK, as an current owner of many of your products including 2 ALP's, I appreciate your hard work getting us to 4k, I can't wait for the preorders to open up!
Thanks PK. Hope you reconsider not allowing buyers of the 4k upgrade for the standard ALP to upgrade to a 4k monitor. A simple HDMI output would seem to be an easy solution, and of course 32" 4k monitors are pretty easy to get since I wouldn't expect AtGames to sell them.
That may have been the feedback interpreted from the focus group, but anyone who cares more about gameplay than screen resolution will strongly disagree. 120Hz refresh rate at any resolution would be preferred over 60Hz, especially for games like FPSes or pinball where reaction times and smooth animation provide a significant benefit to a person's performance in game. Most people are suckered into the 4K snake oil sales, thinking 4K resolution matters more than anything else. Of course a focus group is going to choose 4K resolution over 1080p or 2K, they likely think it's objectively better in every way. I guarantee most people would prefer a display with a better refresh rate in a blind comparison.
@@mg-ox5zj Yeah, it's the worse compromise between the two. They prioritized resolution when it is a less significant factor than gameplay. It would have been better to go with a 2K screen @120 considering the visual improvement at 4k is so minimal.
I couldn’t wait. At the price point they’re going to put the 4K, I couldn’t resist the 4th of July sale they had recently. The HD model is “so far, so good” (less the actual Arcadenet service)…spotty at best and just, meh 😒
Awesome video Jon as always. And yes we are in with 1,000 likes to run one unit ALP 4KP giveaway through drawing and announce the winner on your one future show.
Thank you for this awesome 4k pinball. It looks awesome. The only thing I would like to see different is the pinball machine art. I would love to see just one theme art and it to be one of your own tables that you guys created. Like a Dr. Suess, dinosaur or even one of the new tables that is coming out for the 4k pinball.
I will definitely sign up for that giveaway! I just recently got into virtual pinball a month ago and have been having a blast! My wife has been loving it too! We will definitely buy the table if we don't win though 😁
Yep, one step forward and two steps back. For each thing they upgrade, there's something really crappy about it that kind of defeats the purpose of the upgrade. They added solenoids, but they don't sound good based on the audio in the recording (sounds like a clicky pen to me). They made the backglass significantly bigger, but in doing so, the added DMD looks waaaaaaay too small. Nevermind that the new 4K machine will likely need to have all tables repurchased, even for those who bought all the tables for the original ALP. The product is likely the better choice for someone in the market for one of the machines as a new buyer, but I don't expect many people who already own an ALP (especially those with mods and OTG FP/VPX) will be buying this.
@@mg-ox5zj You can disagree if you insist, but you're wrong. The benefit of flippers and balls that look more realistic due to higher resolution is completely offset when the gameplay is choppier as a result. Gameplay trumps visuals, especially when it comes to fast action like pinball where reaction times and visual speed are top priority. All else equal, a 120Hz display provides smoother visuals and faster draw response than a 60Hz display, thus facilitating faster and better reactions to what is happening on screen. Play the same game on a 60Hz display and then on a 120Hz display and you'll react better on the 120Hz system. If humans gained no benefit from 120Hz displays, competitive FPS gamers wouldn't swear by them. The human eye can absolutely detect smoother performance in a 120Hz display. There are more frames of animation drawn on screen in the same amount of time, leading to smoother animation, especially when there are hectic long-range movements, like a pinball ricocheting around a playfield.
@johngannon FALSE. 4K resolution is noticeable on a 32" panel if your viewing distance is close enough. The recommended viewing distance for a 4k TV's resolution to be noticeable compared to an identical sized 1080p screen is 1.5x the vertical height. A 32" 4K TV has a vertical height of ~15", giving you a viewing distance of about 2 feet. Unless you're 8 feet tall, you're well within that viewing distance while playing a Legends Pinball machine, so you're absolutely going to notice the increased resolution fidelity. It's no different than being able to see the difference in resolution on a smart phone with 4K resolution despite the small screen size, because we put them much closer to our faces. Now, if someone told you that they could see the increase in resolution on their 32" 4K TV in their livingroom that sits 12 feet away from their couch compared to an identically sized 1080p screen, THEN you could tell them "it's literally unnoticeable", because at that viewing distance the human eye cannot detect the difference between 1080p and 4k.
Thank you Michael! AFM is a beautiful looking cabinet. I'll likely not see that one in-person until maybe next year. But fortunately, it doesn't matter the skin, all tables can be played on any cabinet. If I get the chance to show AFM on this one before it ships, I definitely will.
Now all they have to do is get Williams licensing and rule supreme! This is exciting, but more real tables are needed. I'm sure I'll buy one regardless. :-)
WO-OWWWWWWWWWW !!!!!! Holy Smoke.. They have hit it out of the park with this effort. When one considers how Atgames have been breaking new ground with both their first HD version and now this 4K followup, Atgames has single handedly opened up Virtual Pinball for the consumer masses on a scale that I would not have imagined. The features of the SSF add-on are fantastic!! I think all I can say is that I wish the DMD had been larger, but I'm not going to really complain at this point. To say that I'm really looking forward to this would be an understatement. Thanks Jon! EDIT: Oh, I hit the LIKE.. I will send you my delivery address for the 4K Pinball machine I'm going to WIN ! 😅
The user interface looks really good and seems easy to find games and settings. I cant stand complicated user interfaces its a huge turnoff. Gotta say the 4K looks pretty amazing! I look forward to the giveaway Jon! Your channel is crushing it with great content and you'll be at 30,000 subs in a matter of weeks! Thanks for all the hard work making these videos! Thumbs up my friend!
Thank you for checking it out, my friend! Hopefully we'll reach the 1k likes to have the giveaway, I want to see that happen for the community. I'm honored to have this opportunity to share the 4KP with everyone. A little over 2 years ago I bought my ALP HD, love it and it's humbling to be able to share the great work that AtGames has done with the 4KP. Congratulations on closing in on 40k subscribers, maybe as early as next week for UTH!! That's an amazing milestone and I'm very excited for you!
Great video on what seems to be a great product from AtGames. Your videos are so immersive and helpful especially since this is going to be a few bucks to plunk down to get.
Thank you so much for your hard work. I'm on the fence right now between building my own or try to get my hands on this one (I'm in Canada Quebec so no clue except the Brick who I don't know if they'll get it day one) I'm reading a lot, testing screens and all and you make me even more into all this with your amazing site that I refresh everyday for a new video Hahaha
Very welcome, thank you for watching/reading the content! See #14 in the Q&A regarding availability in Canada (response is what I received from AtGames): wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . If I learn more, I'll update.
Looking at just this sampling of vpin players, it looks like they should offer a premium version option with a 120Hz option.// Looking forward to seeing VPX running on it.
No doubt! I paid $700 for my ALP ~2 years ago, the best tech purchase I ever made. Just because something new is around the corner, doesn't diminish the fun and excitement you'll get from what you have. It was my first AtGames purchase ever and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Even bought Mom a Pinball Micro for Christmas last year, she loves it!
I'm really enjoying these videos. Maybe when the 4K information is all available and this series is over, would you consider making a pros and cons/ HD vs 4K buyer's guide for people looking to get their first AtGames machine? As of right now, I'm really interested in the 4K, but I wonder if the HD would still meet my expectations. Thanks either way. Looking forward to the next installment in this series!
Thank you Joshua, I'm enjoying putting this series together. I like your idea here, not sure that a video would be the best way to show it. I may create a chart on the information page to make it easier to visualize. But, if it turns out to be helpful may integrate it into a future episode. Thank you for your feedback!
Im very excited to see the final product and price. Ive added several mods to my current ALP and have plans for more but...i belive ill wait to see how this looks in the end.
Great video as always. With all the upgrades ive made from buy stuff arcade, the new backbox which has a 15" dmd not 8 and the sound kit the only benifit is a 4k 60hz screen. The new interface looks nice but doesnt bother me as I have more tables in OTG. Really would hope there would be a realistic screen upgrade option just like they like at games are offering the new board
You mentioned 2 haptic speakers would be present even without the SSF addon kit. Could you tell more about the haptic speakers? Where are they located? Do they play the same sound/music as the 3,5'' beckbox spreakers? Some SSF kit questions: - You mentioned the kit will bring 4 ssf speakers and one base shaker. Will the 4 speakers be haptic speakers or normal ones? (If not haptic, it would just be sourround sound, without feedback, right?) - How will they play together with the 2 present haptic speakers? I assume the SSF kit will handle the mechanic/ball sounds, the Non-SSF speakers will handle music/effects and no mechanic sounds when SSF is present? Thanks for all your work and great videos.
Excellent questions and thank you for your kind comments! The x2 haptic speakers that are included are essentially the same as those included with the ALP HD and located on the apron. Regarding the SSF kit, those are great questions that we'll find out when I evaluate it at a later time. That will likely become it's own dedicated video at that point.
Looks great, I guess all I can hope for once this 4k version is in production is an upgrade kit for the HD version to make it 4k, maybe the screen and motherboard is probably all we would need. Have they mentioned a price point yet for the 4k version? Great tutorial John as always!
Thank you for you kind words, very excited to bring the 4KP information to you. Please see the answers #18 #5 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . As new questions come up, I add them there and try to find answers.
There are tables on the machine that are at various stages of development in Legends 4K format. I was playing several Dr. Seuss tables late last night that also look great! There are a handful that aren't fully ready but Magic Pixel is doing an amazing job making them look fantastic. The next segment planned is OTG which is a hot topic, once that is available then perhaps we can take a look at some additional tables, as you suggest, when this series is coming to a close. Thank you for watching!
If we compare to the current cab and price and then look at the improvements, typically multiply by 2.5 to get what they need to charge to make a profit (use 3 is mainly retail channels selling). I would be surprised if this is not at least $600 more. If better chipset and display to support 120hz, add another $600.
As stated in the video, the 4k panel is only 60Hz, so that's a huge negative point against this system. For someone who doesn't currently own an ALP, the 4K variant is the clear winner (assuming the price is competitive, which I doubt it will be since you can buy a new ALP from Sam's Club for $400), but I don't see many people who already own a unit, modded or not, buying one of these. The solenoids are a negligible upgrade, they sound like the quality is on par with the built in haptics IMO. Adding in real solenoids would be a better use of the funds. The SSF upgrade is practically a necessity, if not also the haptics kit from BSA. Then there's the dinky little DMD that sticks out like a sore thumb. People like me have been able to add a 15" 1080p LCD as a FullDMD for as little as $80! It would have made more sense to make the built in DMD at least 10", or better yet 12". It's improved over the original, but it's still missing the mark if we're all being honest.
@@Tamarocker88 The 60hz is an issue for me as well, but cost would be high. I might just make a hillbilly set up with 43” 120hz and use my current 24” as backglass that I’m using with the ALP now. My desktop handles 4k 120hz pinball great, so might just sell the ALP. I could use my Legends Pro for the flipper buttons…. Mega hillbilly!
@@Tamarocker88 Some physics engines for tables are locked at 60hz, so apparently even fancy rigs plays certain tables at 60hz. I'll wait and see price for the ALP4K.
@@rushmore3927 Some physics engines for some tables are locked at 60Hz as of right now. Given that the OTG scenes for FP and VPX are constantly evolving, it's a better long-term investment to have 120Hz than 60Hz. Only a matter of time until the physics engines are improved and support 120Hz.
This is great! I really want to thank you for your review. Can you comment on the brightness of the 4K table. I always found the brightness on the ALP lacking and I use it in daytime mode. I am hoping this has improved on the new table. Thanks again for your help.
Glad you're enjoying the series! I'm not seeing a brightness issue on the ALP HD here when set for afternoon mode. The colors are more saturated on the 4KP, likely due to the sharper panel. But in terms of brightness levels, they are similar, please see 10:15 for an accurate representation of what I'm seeing on both displays. This video was shot in 4K and the most accurate representation I could make (you may need to click the cog wheel icon in the video to view it in 4K).
Great videos in Parts 1 and 2 - very informative! Really appreciate the details you provided - especially comparing the 1080p vs 4k displays. You may have mentioned this - but do you think AtGames will be selling this for the Xmas season this year? Hopefully they will still sell it through Sam's Club as well.
Much appreciated Michael! In #7 here, you'll find the intention for deliveries to begin Dec. 15th: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . This was provided to me by AtGames and their official response. It's likely going to depend on when the order is placed and the number of units available. Regarding their distribution channels, I don't have any information on that.
Thanks for putting these videos together. The separate DMD is a welcome addition but it seems pretty small-is there an option available to swap the back glass and DMD images (I.e. use the back glass monitor exclusively for the DMD?) not sure I’d play it this way but interested to know if it’s possible
Very welcome and thank you for watching! I've not seen an option to move the DMD to the backglass screen. That's an interesting idea though. I've added your question as #27 here so it doesn't get lost: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A .
It will be up to the (devl) community to determine, once the 4KP gets into the hands of developers. I could definitely see a case for using the backglass or playfield depending on the aspect ratio of the game.
Great video. I'm still really disappointed that AtGames is offering the 4k upgrade for the standard ALP without the ability to upgrade the screen. Honestly, it would be easy enough to just have an HDMI output and the users would be responsible for the monitor upgrade and all associated risks. As is, I find the $400 upgrade cost hard to justify.
Thank you Scott! I don't have any information, at this point, regarding the capabilities of the upgrade board. Hoping to get some details on that soon.
Gonna be real hard to sneak buy this so my wife doesn't get mad! Oh well I like to live dangerously. Question, does it save a local score top 10 or 100 to display rather than online scores. Not a real good way of looking at local scores on current ALP.
Quick question on the interface. Any chance they've changed the login flow, so that you can store the username/password in the cabinet and get away from the QR code? Thanks for putting these reviews together! This machine is definitely an instant purchase for me to replace my current ALP. It looks absolutely amazing!
That is one thing I'm testing, I'm logged in to my account on the 4KP and I've not had to re-login thus far (while I have on my ALP HD). I can't confirm at this point that it's a non-issue, if I find that it is I'll definitely bring it up with AtGames. Thank you for watching and your kind support Danny!
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I think the added cost to add more solenoids would be minimal. Maybe 100 dollars to me worth it. Or at least like with surround sound feed back offer a solenoid upgrade kit. My arcade 1 up pinball had solenoids that fired when hit bumpers and I’ve since completely gutted but I think we defiantly need more then just the two. So excited for this machine and excited for the fact that at games is taking feedback from you. Again thanks for the reviews. Hopefully you get to hook up your own pc soon see how it does with vpx and pinball fx. Thanks 🙏 you do amazing work !
How are the ball animations smoother? If both are running at 60hz? The only other thing would be if their last computer was too weak and they were screwing everybody.
They appear smoother as the CPU is more powerful, able to keep up a bit better and the images look sharper. As with any computer, the animation effect is dependent on a number of factors, CPU, GPU, Refresh rate, etc.
@@WagnersTechTalk yeah I saw that and he's just wrong. It's gonna be obsolete as far as that technology not being there to help make the 4k truly what it was designed for with that high refresh rate. Not having that just because of price? These are already expensive so just go for it and make it advanced so we don't have to fix or get something better down the road. Again, very disappointing and the community knows this and so should they
What's with the weird ghost icons remaining when you select something? It already says below what the setting or option is. Why do you still need to see the HDMI icon, for example, when you choose to adjust those options?
Those details will be coming, the 1K likes was needed for the giveaway to happen. Stay tuned to the channel for details of how to enter, when it starts/ends, etc.
Yes, you will be able to. Here's another table that I made a video of yesterday (Peanuts' Snoopy): ruclips.net/user/shorts-QU99h8EWjs . AtGames will be announcing more table packs soon that you'll be able to purchase and download to the machine.
Just wish AtGames could make a deal with Williams, Stern, etc to get their tables so we didn’t have to rely on OTG. I would gladly pay for table packs.
YES!! I want real pinball tables. The current lineup is just OK to me. I want the DMD to have a dot matrix look, and I want mini-games popping up on it. I don't want animated crap flying around on the playfield. I want an old-school pinball experience. I just don't want to mess with computers, OTG, extra wires, programming, setting up, and all that hassle. For people like me the best bet is still to buy a boutique machine that has pinup popper and all the tables pre-loaded. (Or a real machine, but been there done that maintenance nightmare - never again). The high end v-pins just cost so much. If AtGames could get the real licensed tables available to load to the machine without a computer they would have a real winner. I like the standup pinball machines (we have the AtGames and an A1Up machine), but sometimes I prefer Pinball FX on the PS so I can play the much superior classic Williams tables.
@@tjwright I agree, having more licensed IP's on the machine without having to connect a PC would make this a slam-dunk for many. Magic Pixel has done an amazing job in this area over the past few years, the more the merrier. I'm also a big fan of Pinball FX/Williams tables. I'd really like to see this happen too, maybe someday.
Im sure I'm the 39374th person to ask, but how is the OTG latency? If they were able to get the OTG latency down significantly, damnit, I will have to buy this. If not, I'll pass regardless of how nice any other aspect is.
LOL, 39375th to be exact. Great question, I'm currently working on that in Part 3. Getting some interesting readings when comparing OTG vs just using a keyboard with Pinball FX (haven't started VPX yet). OTG (using Xpadder) is reporting faster response times than a USB keyboard connected. Actually, I can see ever-so slight movement at exactly the same time (keyboard or OTG). I'm very puzzled by this and double-checking my comparison. In Part 3, we'll cover this very question in detail! Needless to say, OTG is looking impressive -so far. [EDITED]
@@WagnersTechTalk that sounds promising! Essentially, it's really a question about three types of latency : 1. Latency from pressing a flipper button VS a keyboard key connected directly to pc 2. Latency of the display (the biggest problem of the original ALP, where the displays OTG input has a latency of +100ms) 3. Latency of the sound (much smaller problem on the original ALP, but also highly underestimated on the pc side, since the latency of onboard sound cards is often way too high for snappy experiences to begin with) So while this is a somewhat nerdy subject, it's soooo important for the actual OTG experience, leading to many people completely gutting the ALP, replacing almost all components and being forced to completely leave the atgames ecosystem side of things. So consider this a heartfelt encouragement to go as deep as you wish on that topic 😅😅😅
I have given a like, as long as it is Worldwide and not just the states. I don't really play games, but hell this is one expensive piece of furniture that I want. However, Atgames has just ripped off Pinup for the interface so thumbs down from me for that. I am still going to get one, as this is just bucket list to fill.
Please tell them to ditch the legends pinball logs they look TERRIBLE such an eye sore. Move the backglass up and make dmd bigger. Regardless, the legends decals are hideous, so ugly. They need to take that feedback to heart. We know it’s legends brand. We don’t need the ugly decals. Otherwise very excited for the release. Move the backglass up. Bigger dmd remove legends decal
Yep, you & me both. Pinball is a prime example of a game that would greatly benefit from 120Hz refresh rate. A buddy of mine upgraded to a 2k 120Hz panel in his ALP and it's a significant improvement over the stock display.
Yeah, I'm not impressed with the changes they've made. The upgrade in backglass size is an improvement, but it diminishes the value of the added DMD. The DMD really needs to be 10-12" to look appropriate with a 24" Backglass. 60Hz is also terrible for a 4k panel, you can see how badly the ball is ghosting in the video footage. It would have been better to go with a 2K panel at 120Hz. I'll be sticking to my modded ALP tyvm...
@@Tamarocker88 yeah. I have a 24” back box, 15.6” dmd and added an 8” topper on my modded alp. I have haptics, solenoids, led light bar and am finally changing the playfield to a 2k, 120hz screen. I’ll stick with mine as that isn’t going to be worth the money to me and I have so much cash in mine already.
@@markt1593 Oh man, your ALP sounds awesome! I've got my stock backbox configured as the FullDMD with a 15.6" LCD mounted on top as the backglass, a pair of Rokit 5 studio monitors as my primary sound output running through a Presonus Firebox, haptics kit, and arcade control panel, with RGB sound sensitive addressable Govee lighting strips running all around the back, underside, and legs of the unit for ambient lighting. A buddy of mine upgraded his playfield to a 2K 120Hz Asus panel and it looks great in OTG.
Those solenoids sound more like a pen being clicked than an actual solenoid impact.... And man, only 60Hz on a 4k panel is a huuuuuge letdown. Would've been better to go with a 2K panel @120Hz to smooth out the gameplay (especially for those using it for OTG). Swing and a miss, AtGames!
Solenoids are quite loud, I had to angle the camera such that it wouldn't be too overbearing. I appreciate your feedback and hope you find something more to your liking in a future episode.
Our months' of labs tests and focus-group studies guided our trade-off decision to go 4K at 60fps over 2K at 120fps, that the added processing power is best allocated to doing 4K over doing 120fps. For doing both we can wait for the next generation CPUs to become affordable. The solenoids are actual real solenoids electronic parts. Thank you for your valuable input.
@@pkhsiung304 Thank you for the added information! I'm not doubting that a focus group would tell AtGames that they personally value 4k resolution more than 120Hz performance (given most people are obsessed with anything labeled 4K, regardless of the actual improvement to image fidelity at their viewing distance), but when it comes to gameplay performance, a higher display refresh rate trumps an increase in resolution. Especially for those using this hardware for OTG. The benefit to visuals beyond 2K at this viewing distance are negligible for most people, yet they would notice significantly smoother video with a higher refresh rate. If the solenoids are in fact legitimate solenoids identical to those found in a standard pinball machine for flipper activation, I think it's simply the audio recording in the video that doesn't do them justice. The timbre of the sound didn't sound like a standard flipper solenoid impact. Sounds somewhat plastic and weak, like a smaller solenoid is impacting a plastic plate instead of wood.
@@WagnersTechTalk I appreciate all of your videos and documentation! Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with your content, I like it just fine. I am just looking at this product with a critical eye and assessing the upgrades based on the relative value added compared to what is possible and available. A 60Hz 4K panel is an objectively worse choice for a gaming system over 2K 120Hz when gameplay trumps resolution. We are at the point of diminishing returns for increase in resolution on displays, and that increase in resolution comes at a real performance cost. Nothing against you, Wagner!
Not that I needed convinced, I knew the new ALP was going to be epic, and Atgames has knocked it outta the park here, the community is ready to line up for the preorders, a sign that they trust Atgames and know great products when the see them!
I'm curious where you're from for an admittedly pedantic reason. Where in the country does the regional dialect put the accent on the wrong syllable of words like DIS-play and RE-fresh? Not being a troll. I'm genuinely curious as I've never heard such inflections before.
Dear Jon. Greetings from Germany! Do you know when the alp 4kp will be released for retail? And do you know the approximate price tag? I have spent the last year heavily modding the alp with otg based on your videos :) looking forward to more info!!! All the best!
Hello, thank you for your kind comments! For the question about when it will be released, please see #7 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . Regarding price, that is not known at this point and is #5. Those were the official (current) answers from AtGames. Once I find out any new information, I'll keep those questions updated but as of right now no changes.
really great video (as usual). Please tell me that new 4K tables wont require a WIFI or online connection to play. I dont really care about leaderboards, tournaments etc. I want the table to run properly even if I have no internet. Thanks

Awesome, thank you - we're getting closer! Thank you also for your 2nd comment, I'm honored to be able to bring it to you!
I would also have loved 2k @120hz. But still love it
I never knew how you looked until now. Thank you very much for the detailed video and reveal 👍.
I don't get in front of the camera often, but for this I made an exception. Very welcome on the video and thank you for you kind support!
This is a real upgrade! I was about to buy an ALU but now I'm thinking of waiting for the 4k
I couldn’t wait. At the price point they’re going to put the 4K, I couldn’t resist the 4th of July sale they had recently. The HD model is “so far, so good” (less the actual Arcadenet service)…spotty at best and just, meh 😒
Great comparison to highlight the difference between HD and 4K. That’s what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your hard work reviewing this 4K pinball I really hope I can afford one
Very welcome, thank you for watching!
Awesome video Jon as always. And yes we are in with 1,000 likes to run one unit ALP 4KP giveaway through drawing and announce the winner on your one future show.
On behalf of the entire AtGames fan-base, we thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have a giveaway for an ALP 4KP! Let's do this!
Yes. Thank you. Very excited for this to come out.
Hi PK..
Amazing effort on this new product.
Congratulations and thank you to your team for all their hard work on this.
Man can’t wait to upgrade!
Pretty good upgrade overall, but 60hz is a pretty big miss IMO. Having a 2k 120hz screen would have been a much more noticeable upgrade at 32".
@@mg-ox5zj not at 32" 4k is literally unnoticeable.
@@Tamarocker88 FALSE, 120hz is much more noticeable than 4k at 32".
Great video, as well as all the others. Thank you! To say I’m excited for my Attack From Mars with pre-installed SSF is a gross understatement.
Thank you Michael! AFM is a beautiful looking cabinet. I'll likely not see that one in-person until maybe next year. But fortunately, it doesn't matter the skin, all tables can be played on any cabinet. If I get the chance to show AFM on this one before it ships, I definitely will.
Thanks for the video. It's looking great! Now i just need to figure a way to save up lol.

Thank you so much! Part 3 is obviously taking a lot more time, I want to get it right and it is a lot of work. Should get'er done this week.
Cool video, looking forward to adding my first pinball to my arcade 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@WagnersTechTalk as always great informative video.
Those 4K tables look fantastic, I can't wait to preorder.
Thank you for providing more information about this product.
It's my pleasure
Great video! Thank you! And it came out earlier than expected.
Excited for this release! Thanks for the great vids!
Very welcome, thank you for your kind support! Part 3 is a LOT of work, sorry for the delay on that one but it will be worth it.
Lets get to 1000 likes! Thanks for the video!
I can tell people are trying, it might get there! Very welcome on the video, I'll take a breath and get started soon on the next one.
I can’t wait to get one of these
Dang, now I want one!
Excellent! Very exciting! Can't wait to get my hands on this!

Thank you so much for your hard work. I'm on the fence right now between building my own or try to get my hands on this one (I'm in Canada Quebec so no clue except the Brick who I don't know if they'll get it day one)
I'm reading a lot, testing screens and all and you make me even more into all this with your amazing site that I refresh everyday for a new video Hahaha
Thank you for your feedback, please see the pinned comment from PK (CEO) of AtGames regarding 120Hz.
Great video as usual! Looking forward to the next part. Also interested to see how it stacks up to BSAs SSF.
Awesome upgrade from older cabs for sure
I picked up the curent model for 500. That's tough to beat at any resolution
I can't wait!
Looks amazing, would love to pick one up, let's see what the price will be.
100% would be better to just build your own and call it a day. Get exactly what you want. ATgames wasn't all that great to be honest.
@@gmee123Fair but not everyone has the time or knowledge to assemble their own vpin which is why we are grateful that atgames is doing the work for us
Great Video! I hope they will announce the release date soon und start preorder ---- yeah. and off course the price.
The solenoids should fire when the bumpers are hit. That is part of the pinball feel.
Will find out more on that, I've asked AtGames. In this early v1.0 cabinet the solenoids aren't firing when hitting the bumpers.
I'm so ready to buy this now!
Im very excited to see the final product and price. Ive added several mods to my current ALP and have plans for more but...i belive ill wait to see how this looks in the end.
Thank you, Jon, great video as always! Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Thank you Jon for your feedback! Please see #18 here regarding the screen upgrade: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A
You mentioned 2 haptic speakers would be present even without the SSF addon kit. Could you tell more about the haptic speakers? Where are they located? Do they play the same sound/music as the 3,5'' beckbox spreakers?
Some SSF kit questions:
- You mentioned the kit will bring 4 ssf speakers and one base shaker. Will the 4 speakers be haptic speakers or normal ones? (If not haptic, it would just be sourround sound, without feedback, right?)
- How will they play together with the 2 present haptic speakers? I assume the SSF kit will handle the mechanic/ball sounds, the Non-SSF speakers will handle music/effects and no mechanic sounds when SSF is present?
Thanks for all your work and great videos.
Excellent questions and thank you for your kind comments! The x2 haptic speakers that are included are essentially the same as those included with the ALP HD and located on the apron.
Regarding the SSF kit, those are great questions that we'll find out when I evaluate it at a later time. That will likely become it's own dedicated video at that point.
Another stellar segment.
Much appreciated!!
Let's go! I'd be fine winning a 4k!
Can you show quick gameplay in Part 3 of an older table? Is the DMD just blank for those tables?
There are tables on the machine that are at various stages of development in Legends 4K format. I was playing several Dr. Seuss tables late last night that also look great! There are a handful that aren't fully ready but Magic Pixel is doing an amazing job making them look fantastic. The next segment planned is OTG which is a hot topic, once that is available then perhaps we can take a look at some additional tables, as you suggest, when this series is coming to a close. Thank you for watching!
Great video. Excited to get this one.
Thank you! I'm certainly having a blast with this one.
Only a matter of time until the physics engines are improved and support 120Hz.
nice pinball machines
I'm down with a like sir!
🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for putting these videos together. The separate DMD is a welcome addition but it seems pretty small-is there an option available to swap the back glass and DMD images (I.e. use the back glass monitor exclusively for the DMD?) not sure I’d play it this way but interested to know if it’s possible
Very welcome and thank you for watching! I've not seen an option to move the DMD to the backglass screen. That's an interesting idea though. I've added your question as #27 here so it doesn't get lost: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A .
I dropped a like right at the start. I'd love to help make a giveaway happen :)
I appreciate it! I definitely want to see it happen, getting closer.
Retro game emulators can run on back glass or play field ?
It will be up to the (devl) community to determine, once the 4KP gets into the hands of developers. I could definitely see a case for using the backglass or playfield depending on the aspect ratio of the game.
This is gonna be one sick machine🎉
Second thought i hope it fits in my budget😅😅
🤩wow, looks aazing🎉
Not a real good way of looking at local scores on current ALP.
lol, yep may be a little tough to sneak it in. Yes, it does have local top scores also.
@WagnersTechTalk Do you know which tables are going to be included with the Legends 4kp?
No sir, the game list isn't available yet.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thank you for the quick reply!

Do solenoids fire when ball hits the bumpers on playfield ?
Added your question, #29 here to follow-up: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
Thanks 🙏 you do amazing work !
will you show how it works with FX
Certainly, that's planned for Part 3 (next up) when we cover OTG.
Rachel and Ally?
How are the ball animations smoother? If both are running at 60hz? The only other thing would be if their last computer was too weak and they were screwing everybody.
They appear smoother as the CPU is more powerful, able to keep up a bit better and the images look sharper. As with any computer, the animation effect is dependent on a number of factors, CPU, GPU, Refresh rate, etc.
Can you replace the marquee with a bitpixel?
I can't be sure at this point, the machine is no longer here to check. I don't think so.
No 120Hz is a bummer
Please see the pinned comment from PK (CEO) of AtGames where he discusses this question in more detail.
I'm confused. If the ALP has all the hdmi inputs (edited), why do we need a vibs board for this?
You don't need the VIBS board for the Legends Pinball 4K series, it's built-in to the main board.
@@WagnersTechTalk Wonder what the price is going to be? I bet they might still not know.
Can you please tell me how I can enter the free giveaway??
Those details will be coming, the 1K likes was needed for the giveaway to happen. Stay tuned to the channel for details of how to enter, when it starts/ends, etc.
Will you be allowed to play other zen tables? It’s the only thing holding me back on buying on of these.
That would be pretty sweet! Who knows, maybe someday.

Essentially, it's really a question about three types of latency :
1. Latency from pressing a flipper button VS a keyboard key connected directly to pc
2. Latency of the display (the biggest problem of the original ALP, where the displays OTG input has a latency of +100ms)
3. Latency of the sound (much smaller problem on the original ALP, but also highly underestimated on the pc side, since the latency of onboard sound cards is often way too high for snappy experiences to begin with)
So while this is a somewhat nerdy subject, it's soooo important for the actual OTG experience, leading to many people completely gutting the ALP, replacing almost all components and being forced to completely leave the atgames ecosystem side of things.
So consider this a heartfelt encouragement to go as deep as you wish on that topic 😅😅😅
Great video! It broke my heart to hear its only 60 hz

Sorry, that's not it.
Yeaaahhhh I don't see a big diff. You're not convincing me bud...no thank you.
I'm just showing what this machine can do, totally up to each individual to decide if it's what they're looking for.
I appreciate your comment and they are definitely reviewing all feedback.
They should have just gone with 1080p or 1440p at a higher refresh rate to bring cost down. 60Hz is a definite deal breaker for me.
If interested, please see the pinned comment from PK (CEO) of AtGames where he discusses this question in more detail.
Yep, you & me both. Pinball is a prime example of a game that would greatly benefit from 120Hz refresh rate. A buddy of mine upgraded to a 2k 120Hz panel in his ALP and it's a significant improvement over the stock display.
The ssf is a nice touch but will be sold separately. Now if they could just offer a bigger DMD. 8” is awful. 60Hz is not great either.
Im first, thanks Jon, love this content and I def am going to preorder!
Of course a like!
I'm curious where you're from for an admittedly pedantic reason. Where in the country does the regional dialect put the accent on the wrong syllable of words like DIS-play and RE-fresh? Not being a troll. I'm genuinely curious as I've never heard such inflections before.
LOL, sure. I've lived in TN, CA, AR, PA, AL and a few other areas. I'm a mix of various locales.
Thanks
Thank you, I appreciate your support! I've added your question #28 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . I'll ask and get an accurate response for you. If you don't hear from me directly, just check back there around mid-week.
Is there any lag time from when you push the flipper button and the flipper moves?
It's instant to me. Maybe we discuss further in a future episode.
@@WagnersTechTalk That would be great! I know that is something a lot of people wonder about.
The Screen looks great maybe att games can give us a 120hrz upgrade in future for those who want to mod , and is Centigrade 37 still on it??
Hi Steve, the display looks beautiful (actually, all 3)! No official word on the game list yet. I'll share once it's known.
for some reason that game sticks with me, I was #1 last checked still #3 @@WagnersTechTalk
Hopefully you will be able to give one away, unfortunately winning won is probably the only way I will have a chance of getting one in the foreseeable future, and this looks very impressive, lightyears better than playing pinball on my laptop.
Getting closer, totally up to the community if we do have a giveaway. I'm hopeful it will happen. Thank you for watching!
Shocked that you don't look like the little drawing of you in the intro :D
just started watching but you standing next too the back box has me sold...
lol Thank you!
Jon you're an absolute stud for doing all this hard work. I'm very excited to get this machine when it drops! Thanks for the ***4K*** video and of course we're all looking forward to part 3 when it's ready!
lol, much appreciated! Working with 4K video was a first for me and definitely a lot more work, the files can get huge after just a few min. of recording. But, I couldn't see demonstrating a 4K display in 1080p. Just wouldn't have been right.
I like the BG compared to the current ALP I have ...but I do love my 10" DMD I'm using (Fire Tablet).
You rock Wagner well documented and detailed video
Thank you sir! We aren't near the finish line, perhaps half-way into the series. Part 3 starting was delayed for a few reasons, so guess I'll be working over Labor Day weekend 😬
How much will this cost?
Price is unknown at this time, see (#5) here : wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Q_A . There is also a poll if you want to provide your guesstimate.
Thanks for this. Wondering (and would like to see), Being able to turn on into OTG mode, instead of always having to click the channel button and then selecting “ok”…
Very welcome and interesting suggestion Troy. I've added your comment to the Requests section (#2) here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4kevt/#Requests as it's more of a feature request than a question. I like the idea, makes sense.
@@WagnersTechTalk it’s one I’ve seen in other forums on occasion. Those of us that play in OTG 99-100% would love it! ❤️❤️❤️😊
