      Here's a list of all the the "Core Tables" on the machine: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k/#Core_Tables . When I say "core", they are basically standard tables included on every machine + one (or more) themed tables, such as The Addams Family (in this case). Sometimes the planets are well aligned and the meet between AtGames and the Pinball FX team is a little miracle. I live in France and I have preordered this pinball. Many thanks to you for sharing your opinions and testing this machine. Awesome that your dream cabinet is almost here! Very welcome, there is definitely more coming to help everyone get setup when their machines arrive. It was a dream come true for me too when I heard that Zen and AtGames were partnering. We'll have a great machine with plenty of fun table to play. Zen Studios, Zaccaria, TAITO, Gottlieb tables will all play on the machine without a need for a PC. For those that want VPX/FP too, there is OTG with 3 HDMI inputs.

    Wagner,
    I was beginning to worry, but I knew I shouldn't have, this is Wagner we're talking about. I can breathe a sigh of relief :)
    So, your video of the table passed my click test! And I also appreciated your more scientific slow mo test. My click test is simple, I listen for the click of the flipper button and see what happens on the screen. If they match, then I'm VERY HAPPY! They did and it looks like AtGames and Zen have fixed the lag quotient! Beautiful job!
    I think there is only one thing I wish could've been tweaked to make the experience more real, but I understand that concessions had to be made for this table to run on the Zen Platform on AtGames hardware without a lag issue. I wish they would've been able to include the dark look of the real Addams Family playfield and the way the lighting reflects off of surfaces. One of the main allures for me when it comes to Virtual Pinball reaching those heights of realism, is making the playfield look natural, with only lighted areas coming from the internal bulbs, like a machine you'd seen in the wild, and how the lighting reflects off of stuff in real time, even on the ball. I think Zen's ball looks realistic as is, but the whole table shouldn't look fully illuminated all the time. The lights, though they flash, don't leave any realistic projections on the sides or on the table itself. If one compares the look of the table on the AtGames 4KP, vs the way it looks on Zen's PC Pinball FX, the PC iteration looks drastically and naturally darker with its bulbs illuminating only the places on the playfield and on the side panels where the lights are. As where the 4KP is just illuminated everywhere all the time. However, and I'll state this again, I would much rather see the gameplay mastered first, getting rid of any lag, over any extra frills. And I in no way expected the 4KP to match an expensive PC running the latest version of Zen's Pinball FX. That's just not realistic.
    What Zen and AtGames have done here is no short of amazing and I applaud their effort. I do wonder though, if maybe a future update to this table may be made. Maybe Zen Studios makes a phone call to Magic Pixel, another one of AtGame's Partners, and works with them to discover and implement their secret "Out Of This World" lighting effects for Addams Family. I may not always like some of Magic Pixel's tables (or some music, callouts, and recycled art assets), but what they've figured out over any other competitor, to the one's I've tried out, is the secret sauce on how to do lighting effects and table illumination calibration pretty much flawlessly and on lower hardware specs.
    One quick question before I leave you. In some of the promo materials, AtGames showed the Addams Family light up topper doing a flashing lightning effect. Is that still present in the light up topper you received? It kind of looked like a static light in this video, but the focus of the video was on the gameplay. Just wanted to see if that cool effect made it into the topper. It was one of the things that set Addams Family apart from the other machines they offer.
    Thanks as always, this is superb stuff!

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 месяцев назад +1

      Wow, excellent feedback vgv! Basically what you're wanting to see, if I read correctly, is a ray-tracing option to add another level of realism. Please pass your feedback directly to Zen Studios. I'll be collecting feedback and sending to them but I'm not sure how much of an impact that would have coming from me. I've met some of the Zen team and they are awesome and very open to suggestions for improving their products. It was a blast meeting them in Chicago (I had previously only seen them on YT), hoping I get to meet up with them again later this year. But, definitely mention it directly. I would imagine performance was their main focus, additional options would be possible in the future, I would think.
      The topper does not have a flashing effect, it's a static off/medium/high brightness. I did see the video where it appeared to be flashing, but I think that was to demonstrate it lights up. I'll make it a point to mention in an upcoming video as I'm sure someone else may have that same question, and take some close-ups of the side/back. It would be fairly easy to mod it to flicker. I could see someone coming up with a small microcontroller (arduino nano, perhaps) that listens for audio and turns on/off the power to the topper based on audio detected.
      When my son was younger, we built a power droid costume (from Star Wars) that would randomly light LED's and play the "gonk" sound from the movie. We were in the 501st (Star Wars costuming group) and would wear our costumes to raise money for charities (make a wish foundation, etc.) It would be the same basic concept here, it could be random lights or based on noise levels detected.
      Sorry, got a little long-winded here, but yeah it's static :)

    • @videogamevegas
      @videogamevegas 5 месяцев назад

      Wagner,
      Not long winded at all. When one has something well thought out to say and is as succinct as you are, length is relative. I'm the same though, not wanting to talk someone's ear off, especially in an age where young-in's think phone calls are too long and short texts somehow speak "War And Peace." That's one of the reasons I put out there in my channel introduction video that the length of my videos will be the time they need to be, no set length (and I also feel that way about my comments).
      Thank you for letting me know about the Addams Family lighted topper, I also appreciate your family Star Wars story, that's a great parallel.
      The no flashing in Addams Family light up topper is bummer for sure, but not the end of the world. I do hope AtGames can be a bit more careful in future regarding product advertisements. I don't think they were malicious here, but it is a disappointment.
      Ray Tracing? Yeah... No. My computer is a beast for sure, but my graphics card doesn't really support that. If you have Pinball FX on PC and Addams Family, you'll see what I mean when I talk about bulb lit tables. Heck, even Pinball Arcade PC Addams Family is very close to perfect in this regard and that came out many years ago. If you've ever played the "Non-Deluxe" versions of Magic Pixel Tables, the Zaccaria line, and go into night mode, you'll get the idea of what I'm referring to as well. AtGames HD machine can handle this type of graphical effects, but Zen's Pinball programs, 3, Android, and the new FX, are VERY resource intensive (they're unfortunately just programmed that way, just not as well optimized like other VPin software I use). So, the way we're seeing Addams Family run today on the 4KP, may be as good as it gets. Again, definitely check out Addams Family on the new PC Pinball FX just to see what I mean about correct lighting and effects.
      Great stuff Wagner! You're the reason I pre-ordered my Addams Family. You put it through its paces and it got your seal, which you were able to demonstrate success in each important area.

    Great over-view Jon! Very impressive machine - very impressed at how nice the light up topper is; much better then I was expecting. I just wish that we could "punch into" the playfield to eliminate the dead space at the top and bottom of the screen - it would greatly help the relative small size of the monitor. Hopefully this is an option that can be made available down the line.... Still, a great on-stop-shop option for people wanting to jump into a 4K machine.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment 5 месяцев назад +2

      In VPX and Future Pinball, the user can zoom into the playfield; essentially making it larger by changing the aspect ratio by cutting off the top and bottom of the screen. By doing so, the actual playfield (and the ball) become larger and thus closer to being the size of "real" pinball.
      There are a lot of pins that use nearly a 1/3 of the available space for things like playcards, etc. While it's a nice touch, I'd rather have the entire screen be a playfield.

      Thank you for responding.
      It’s just disappointing that ATgames and Zen are going to ship these machines and there are still bugs that need worked out.
      It looks promising but I don’t want to sacrifice fidelity especially when we are only getting 60fps to begin with.
      There is OTG mode but the problem with OTG is that ZEN doesn’t support SSF or solenoid support in there cabinet mode. Now I would be willing to purchase there tables for cabinet mode with that type of support. I have a pc powerful enough to run 4K 120hz max settings but the immersion you lose when you don’t have at least ssf you lose a lot of the experience. Classic mode looked like the graphics were scaled back a bit especially the colors. Could have been RUclips compression.

      Flipper latency for either mode is 116ms, from what I've measured (it's the best way I can think of to measure it). The tracking for the pull on the plunger needs some tuning. For me, it was more obvious with all the enhancements enabled and the golf club animation seems to get lost at times. Being honest about what I see is the most important thing, some may not like that but I think most do. I appreciate your comments, hope the above helps answer your question.

    Interesting detail buried in there … they didn’t start manufacturing until 12/28, if yours is indeed the first off the line. A little surprised they numbered these at all since they’re standard edition now. Still not crazy about the run around on whether it was going to be a CEP or not, but ultimately I ordered because I wanted the features, not a limited edition.

      Very welcome, I hope you found the video helpful! Not sure I understand though, The Addams Family was always a Standard Edition table (not limited to a specific # of units). Though, each will be numbered in the order they were manufactured.

    • @RobStevens64
      @RobStevens64 5 месяцев назад

      @@WagnersTechTalk When it was originally announced and pre-orders opened, it was unclear if this would be CEP or not, because it seemed to have all the features they said a CEP table would have would have. Even when they announced all the upgraded features (like art on the speaker grilles), it begged the question on whether or not it was technically a CEP or not. Once they finally announced additional tables, it was obvious that the only difference between the standard and CEP tables was that they were limited production runs, nothing in the features offered.
      That’s why I’m surprised they’re bothering to number The Addams’ Family ones at all, since it’s not a limited run. Just makes the number more of a curiosity than anything. Very cool you got the first one, though!

    Sorry to say but this version dissapoints me. First the ball physics still could be better. The weight of the ball itself feels too light as a result ball movement is sometimes way too fast (like the keramic ball in the Twilight Zone gumball machine). Second the light system, i played thousands of games on the real one and the lighting system is so different. Normal and playfield lights should be less strong but the flashers should be much stronger so it lights the whole playfield and almost hurt your eyes. (an evening/night mode should help).

    I copped for the "expensive" ssf installed kit, but seems like hearing this I think many will be happy just with the stock sound. If I was to redesign this, only thing I would change would be using the 24" backslash with a 15" dmd, not the 8", so it's more in tune with a Stern or Buystuffs backbox. Is the dmd hdmi input, or 30 pin cabled? Perhaps it's something we can easily upgrade

Will I have redemption codes on my orders page from AtGames? I’m a total newby on their systems. Thanks if anyone knows. 🖖🏼

      So happy to hear it! I didn't weigh these boxes and didn't see the weight listed. Overall, the weight of the machine is 122lbs. I'd "guesstimate", one box about 22 lbs, the other 100lbs but again I didn't weigh each box before assembly as I don't have a scale large enough to do that. If I find out the exact weight, I'll add it to the written guide.
      For the game codes, you'll find those in the My Digital Locker (in settings), I'll have more info. on that in the next video (or two - tops).

    I am extremely disappointed with the Adams Family pinball that I just put together. The ball constantly stutters on all the Zechariah tables, making the experience frustrating. The HD version was running much smoother compared to this.😢
    The flipper lag is only present on the Adam's family table.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 месяца назад

      The stuttering we're seeing on the Magic Pixel (MP) tables was not there in earlier builds I tested. As soon as I noticed it, it was reported. If you look at the many short videos I made on all the Zaccaria, TAITO, Dr. Seuss tables, there is absolutely no stuttering with MP tables. For that reason, I think it's going to be a timely fix.
      Since updating to the latest fw, I've been analyzing the flipper latency in both MP and Zen tables. That information can be found here, if interested: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k/#Legends_Pinball_4K_Latency (see the yellow bar at the top for a video of those tests).

      @WagnersTechTalk what else is annoying is the nudges. When you nudge the MP tables, it's nice and subtle. When you nudge Adam's family, it looks like a freakin earth quake.

Then, started filming more videos in 4K and wound up using the laptop not for OTG but for creating all my videos. My old laptop was struggling to keep up (4K video editing is very CPU/GPU intensive). While it was purchased with the intent of using it for OTG, that's no longer the case.

    Hey Jon! Thanks for the update. I do believe that the playfield is way too bright. Shouldn't it he a bit moodier? Is that a word? Lol. It looks flat and very 2 dimensional. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 месяцев назад

      I turned the brightness up on both the playfield and the DMD for this video. The camera for the playfield was mounted 3ft above the playfield, about 4 feet away from the backglass+DMD. Hard to balance perfectly with multiple cameras. It's not the typical angled view I usually create.

    • @MrBlueskyguy
      @MrBlueskyguy 5 месяцев назад

      I understand the camera issues...I am a camera operator by trade (shameless plug, BlueSky Filmworks) but does the playfield look 3 dimensional as much as it should?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 месяцев назад

      It looks like what was shown here, though again the brightness level can be adjusted and I did have it set higher than the defaults to get a better image due to the distance from the camera. I wanted to provide the clearest image possible (given my video equipment limitations). Looking closely at the table, the rails and on-screen elements look sharp (no jaggies). It looks 3D-ish, if that's such a word. It's software and network connected, as a result, can be improved over time.
