Andrew Dennis was a kid who flipped to Illinois then before the season started transfered back to MSU. Just another wild angle of the world that is “recruiting”
I didn't want to be the angry guy shouting about how Smith was a horrible hire, but everything I thought would happen is happening. His last recruit class at Oregon St was #69. No 4-stars. That was when he was recruiting on the West Coast after 6 years of recruiting as HC. And more years recruiting as a coach. I asked the poignant question, what do you think his recruiting will be like in the Midwest?? Where he never recruited before. And now we're seeing it. People kept saying "this is a national game, you recruit all over now". Yeah, not so much. If Smith can't hold on to a guy from East Lansing, what's going to happened to his commits from California? But even more worrisome are Chiles and Marsh. Frankly the only 2 stars we have. What can you say to them to keep them here?
Marsh is almost certainly gone. Chiles probably not because I don't think any power 4 school would be that interested. His stock went wayyy down this year. Because....well....because he absolutely sucks.
@@Satchmojones His classes: 2023 #51 2022 #69 2021 #87 2020 #51 2019 #43 2018 #70 It's kind of sad that he celebrated a #43 class as his best in 5 years.
Kohler. Jayce. Fears. Akin. Fiddler at the 4 to start. Zapala off the bench for now. I think 3 shooters is better than 2. Will allow fears more options and penetration without mucking up the pain and pick and role with kohler and posts ups are easier I don't like 2 bigs when your pg can't shoot the 3 consistently.
I don't know about anyone else but I am frustrated watching this basketball team operate with no sense of urgency. Down by 10 (+/-) points with a minute or so left in the game and they take the ball down the floor, pass it around the perimeter until the shot clock is down to 5 seconds or less, and then throw up a desperation shot, only to have any MSU player anywhere in the paint to be completely boxed out with no hopes of an offensive rebound. Not to mention the countless missed shots inside the cylinder. Ughhhh. Game after game...or so it seems. And dont you think that if a team is hitting 3 after 3, you might want to guard them a little tighter? "Daring" that other them to keep taking 3s, when they made dam near every 3 pointer they have taken, isnt real smart.
Yup. I understand Izzo takes pride in his defense (except the part where we get 3’s rained down on us game after game), but show me another “blue blood” program that struggles this poorly to find rhythm on offense this consistently. What good is a defense when you can’t even score 70 points a game yourself.
@@StrongHamps I keep thinking that their offense will come to them (sooner rather than later I hope) but their bad defensive habit(s) are, and have been, commonplace.
Why does no one ask Smith about this in his weekly press conferences. Would be interested to hear his perspective on how recruiting is going holistically and what his strategy and philosophy is. Not about any one player in particular but curious his feelings towards how things are going in that regard.
What is Mel Tucker doing these days? I like coach Smith he needs five years at least to reverse the Tucker damage. It will be a huge upset if MSU beats Rutgers. I think spartan basketball has hope and by the end of the year respectable. Glad to see UConn lose twice in Maui, go green go white.
It’s weird. Mel Tucker gets a lot of blame… but he was recruiting. He was sounding the alarm with NIL. He lost games late in 22 because a lot of kids that played significant football for MSU were suspended for the year for something that now looks more trivial than ever. MSU missed on that and are paying for it. Hawkins has been on staff longer than two years, in this region with no splashy recruits… what’s his excuse? These coaches love to say they need two years as if they haven’t been involved in recruiting before. This isn’t Smiths first year…. It’s a terrible excuse if you ask me.
I agree, all the Tucker hate is extreme. I appreciated being in on so many blue chip recruits and he landed his fair share. The narrative that he always swung and missed isn’t correct unless you are talking 5 stars.
@ I also failed to mention the transfer portal under his regime. Although it fell late, he may have had a top ten transfer of all time. Then come to find out he was being extorted by a woman who is a perfect plant for it. I just can’t shake feeling like there are moles in the camp of MSU. 🤷🏼♂️
@@KozieCouchYou failed to mention Tucker’s incompetence and refusal to make coaching changes after that 2022 season. And hiring a bunch of washed up has beens. What was his excuse for getting absolutely blitzed by Maryland, Minnesota and Washington? The edited text messages that he showed, showed that he was extorting Tracy in fact.
@ so he’s not allowed the same grace as Smith? Just wondering because the defense for Smith is its year 1… Mel Tucker won 11 games year 1. Why did Tracy put out a protection order on the texts in the first place if it in fact showed He was extorting her? Why did his lawyers fight and win, to remove the order?
I feel like MSU football is well on their to the island of irrelevancy. They will are gonna find their place in the basement of the big ten where Indiana used to be.

I can just already tell by the product on the field that Smith isn't going to work. They didn't get better. They got worse. Sad to say because i really wanted it to work. What Dantonio did will not be done again here. We are Iowa. We are Illinois. We are Rutgers. MSU football is dead. It will remain dead in this current version of what college football is. Thank God we have the Lions.
Here’s the deal college sports is no longer the college sports that we all know it has become pay to play and what are they do that’s professional they’ve turned college sports into something that no one wanted. Recruiting means nothing because it’s all turned to the dollar is there an NCAA anymoreI’m not sure, but that used to be one of the no-no in recruiting offering prizes and money so Kelly sports will never be the same again that’s the reason why I don’t watch anymore.
NIL stinks. College 🏈 is now professional, and NIL, the wealthiest alumni wins. There should be caps to NIL and limit transfers along with contracts requiring early commitments that cannot be changed by the player who is PLAYING THE FIELD of offers
This is the outcome of a lackluster season. Players want to play for winning programs.
37 high school recruits in the last 2 classes. Just 4 blue chip prospects. That’s not going to get you far in the B1G.
