Most of us don't have a gardening budget of a RUclips gardening channel, but that never bothered me. Gardening can be just as fun with a tiny budget and if not more rewarding. When Laura does a container arrangement that I really want to copy, I take notes of which plant I am able to start from seed; which I might be able to take cuttings from what's already in my garden and which one I can substitute. It sure takes longer than rushing to the store for the full grown plants but the process was every bit as enjoyable. Alyssum and ornamental cabbage are very easy to start from seed and if you save your own seeds, they are essentially everlasting. Start from seed, plant swap with a neighbor, forage seeds where it's allowed, the possibilities are endless.
Christy Ren Also, I hit the clearance racks at Lowe’s and other stores and I can find things for $1 that might just need a little TLC to recover and shine. If you collect them all summer you should have enough by fall to make some lovely pots 🙃 I even recently found small boxwoods for $1 each!
Emily Knetzer $1 boxwood!? What a steal! Where my grandma lives, they give out annual plants used in city landscape to residents at the end of season. My grandma was able to grow a geranium from a tiny can to a massive 5ft giant that blooms year round.
Christy Ren Awesome! Gotta be resourceful! And the boxwoods are pretty small, but still! I know how big they can be some day 👍🏻 (TBH I would NEVER have paid $15 for them.)
Great idea! I started alyssum from seed this year. The ones I didn't kill are almost 2 feet in diameter now! I never thought about doing the same with the cabbage but will next year. It's been really hard to find a good variety of plants this year, even at nurseries.
There is nothing more satisfying than watching one of your videos and going out to buy some plants to make something similar and actually being successful!! I tell my friends that if you planted ragweed and said “Oh look! Isn’t that pretty?” I would be on Google looking for some plants 😂 You’re an inspiration to so many!
Laura, this was both inspiring by your plant choices as well as your thoughtful consideration of the variety of budgets of your followers. Thanks to you, too, Aaron, for your presence--albeit off screen. While Team LeBoutillier always has a welcome screen presence in our home, your positive approach and this colorful display really lifted our spirits today here on the west side of our beautiful state of Oregon. The fires burning in Oregon are keeping many of us in the Willamette Valley--as well as other areas--inside due to the poor air quality. Positive thoughts for all those suffering losses. Many thanks for all of the positive energy you continually share with all of us.
I was just texting a friend last night who lives in that area. She sent a pic where you could see trees and said the next morning they were hidden by smoke. Please stay safe and wear the best mask you can if you go out. I read that breathing that smoke is like smoking 25 cigarettes a day!
I'm so sorry and im thinking of you guys in Oregon! I took a family trip over to Portland and the Willamette area 4 years ago and it's sooo lovely. Sending you prayers.
My INSPIRATION for next week as I find ways to spark joy for others. This container is NOT too expensive if you are like me and the "thing that gives me the greatest joy" is bringing joy to others. Cheaper than a therapist. I use my old therapist $$$ to pour into the lives of others. Hope Pike Nursery in Atlanta has a similar Michael Carr Pot, and all of the plants you mentioned. CROSSING MY FINGERS.
Love seeing you do a gorgeous blinged out planter in a ceramic container. The concrete is always lovely, but sometimes the shot of color offered by a ceramic planter just can't be beat! Thank you.
These are an inspiration, no matter how many or few plants you put in your container. The inspiration I have most received from these is to utilize perennials in containers!!! What a brilliant idea! 😊 Thank you for sharing!
I know probably not the best place to state this but I hope you and your family are safe. I know you have a sister who lives a little bit away in Oregon and certainly hope you are safe from the fires. Prayers to you and your family and friends that are dealing with this terrible tragedy and hope you are all safe.
Good morning from beautiful Suriname 🇸🇷 it was such a pleasure watching you arrange those flowers plants in such a huge pot , what a brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing 🤗🌞
Absolutely gorgeous arrangement. I would never have thought about putting a rose bush in a pot no matter how big the pot. You have a real knack for selecting plants that look beautiful together but are something most of us would not think of. Thank you for showing us how to think outside the box.
Laura. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. Most of all, I love how you are always happy and smiling. Your spirit is contagious! I enjoy everything you do. But I must say, the chicken house and garden are my favorite. I can't imagine doing a video everyday. But thank you. You are such a blessing to so many of us. In these times, you are definitely a bright light. Blessings.
I wouldn’t have put those plants together and you worked your magic...AGAIN!!!! I want the rudbeckia and the mums and the everything else! So beautiful. Thanks so much. You really inspire me to step out of the ordinary! I hope you, your family and friends are all safe during the Oregon fires. It’s so sad to watch the reports. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Laura... you are like a “container ninja wizard”... your information packed presentation today is one I will refer back to over and over! I learn so much from you & get so much inspiration & joy from all the projects you share with us with the support of your family n team. You all rock!!! Big gratitude & blessings 🌈🦋✨💚🙏💚✨🦋 🌈
I started watching your show to get ideas for planters and you never disappoint!! I may not be able to squish all the plants in my pots but I use your colours and textures as inspiration for my containers. I live in an apartment now and don't have a yard to make beautiful, so I do it with containers on my balcony. I am cleaning up my summer planters and doing things up for fall and winter. I live on Vancouver Island and I can enjoy plants through the winter and have colour too.Your property is a labour of love and we see it in every video that you do. Thanks for all the calmness you bring during this crazy time
This container arrangement is so so beautiful Laura!! I don't think I've really seen cabbage used in ornamental planting the way you use it - I don't think it's a common thing for us Aussies to do. But I love how you use them in the landscape and in this container it really finishes it off beautifully. Thanks for the inspiration and all the effort you and Aaron put into these videos xxx
You made my day with this container! I move mine around and highlight the ones that are in peak form. Give us a shot when you place it in your garden, please. Thanks you for your inspiration! And the banter is enjoyable too!
I ❤ your maximalist approach to gardening and pots. There is such a beauty that you achieve with combining so many varieties! I LOVE the nostalgia and happiness that looking at decorations creates. I never connected with cooking as much as with decorative gardening. #GARDEN ANSWER FOREVER! 🎉
Just visited your parent’s garden center today! It was so fun to see it in person after seeing it in videos for so long. My husband, two daughters and I wandered around for quite a while and my girls were enamored with the birds! I bought some stuff for my fall containers and feel so inspired after watching you put this together!
Gorgeous! I love that you are conscious of the fact that these things can be spendy, and you had a really great idea about planting things you can use in your landscape later. Thank you for being so inspiring!
I love that pot!! Those plants are beautiful! Cats will be cats no matter where they are playing, sleeping or fighting! Love the colors you planted!! Beautiful Fall colors! The finished planting is gorgeous!! Now I need to go to my garden center & get more Fall plants!!😍🍂🍁🧡💛🍁🍂
First, your hair is looking absolutely gorgeous, and second, love the work that Aaron does in making the videos. He is good. I never knew about combining different types of flowers until I watched your videos. So thank you for that. I rearranged my garden last night and today I sat out there and it feels good to do that. I have a colorful garden. I like to use different colors. Thank you for all you do.
Laura, I do very much like your bed plantings and am thoroughly inspired by your new vegetable and cut flower space. I'm looking forward to your inspirations for the remainder of that huge space. What I really look forward to is you going totally nuts with the change of season pots and decorating outdoors for the holidays. They are always so beautiful and well done. With all the news about the wildfires, I hope they are staying well away and you, Aaron, Benjamin, and both of your families are, and will continue to be safe.
I'm glad you got the bug for putting together containers because I love watching you plant them. I would never think of the combinations you use and they are all so beautiful when you are finished. I am still amazed at how many you are able to squeeze into a container.
Beautiful fall container! I'm so glad you addressed the light needs of this mix of plants. And the slower growth habits in the cooler months. I've learned so much from you. My garden and containers have brought me so much joy this year! Thank you! A big thank you to Aaron, too, for the great close ups at the end!
Yes coffee with Laura, Aaron, Russell, and Cheddar as well as a beautiful Fall arrangement is the best way to start the day! I see you are getting some use out of that kneeling pad from Gardner's Supply as well. I love that pot the color and shape is so nice. Thank you for the inspiration, the colors you chose are so pretty together!
Love your fall collection there Laura. Glad you dont have the smoke that we have. Its awful here in central oregon! Prayers for all those that have lost homes and lives🙏❤
That fall pot looks amazingly beautiful and what an inspiration to get some planting done myself 🙂 Thank you for sharing...and the cats are just too funny, always like to be seen!
Thinking of all of you, .... yourselves and your extended family in these hard times out West. I'm sure you are all being safe, and looking out for one another Best, Cassie
Super excited for fall containers! Yes, more more more please! Your combos are so inspiring! I would love to see a photo gallery of submissions of your fans' pots. So fun to see what fellow gardeners come up with.
One of the most gorgeous containers you’ve ever done. I’d love to see you use that red rose somewhere in the landscape. Maybe add a dark color area somewhere on your property. It’s fun to experiment.
Thankfully that I found you during this past challenging week in the Willamette Valley with the wildfires; super surprised that I hadn't found you before! Looking forward to watching much, much more for inspiration for days to come! Take care and thank you!!!
You have taught me so much about gardening! How you just do you. I have not ventured into planting a container as of yet because I don't know what to put together, pot sizes and such. How would you instruct a newbie to go about doing their first container? Yours are always so beautiful and inspiring. Thanks for all of your videos. They help a lot. 😊
Oh my, how glorious is this! I would have never thought to combine a full blown rose bush into a fall pot, but it is just perfect. Thank you for the gorgeous inspiration!
Thank you for inspiring and encouraging us to get out and garden. You put a smile on my face and I am growing from a faux plant person to feeling happy at my local nurseries. You and your family are a treasure! My best to you and your family with prayers the fires are under control very soon. Take care and stay safe.
Believe it or not that red rose really blew me away when I seen you was going to use it for the whole pot looks gorgeous it just all of a plant that stands out gorgeous
I have started following your advice to use perennial in a container that I can plant later. It’s a cost savings and my planters don’t look like everyone else’. I like that. Thank you Laura for all your inspiring videos.
Darn Laura. I have so many boring fall maintenance projects to do today and I All I can think about now is running out to get some big pots and plant up fall planters. You are so inspirational. Thanks for sharing!
You really are inspiring me to start doing containers! My issue with my yard is that I get 6-8 hours of sun in my front yard, and 12 hours of sun on my right side yard. I built trellises to help with shade, but its still not enough for the baby plants I buy. And of course,, those are the two parts of my yard that you can see from the road! So now that I see perennials are great to start in containers, maybe I will start establishing them in containers before planting out in the yard? My front porch and back porch are covered, and I've been wanting to spruce them up seasonally. Thank you!!!
I planted mums, asters and marigolds, 2 wks ago, when my husband was gifted a box of irises, from one of his HVAC customers & I HAD to buy more potting soil, which meant a trip to the garden center. Honestly I thought I was done planting...well, nope.haha I loved they actually had a new shipment of fall plants. I love the contast of purple asters with the assorted colors of mums and the yellow & red marigolds. My annuals are season end tired, so really makes me happy to have the bright cheer of the flowers back...Thank you for the video & a very pretty assortment. Laura.
I appreciate the fact you Don't play background music in your tutorials. Not everyone enjoys the same genre of music, plus it can be distracting, from the commentary. Thank you.
Pretty. I love fullness. You. An also dig up perennials from the garden for fall planters and then put them back in the garden later. Saves a little dough!
Cheryl Schumacher I was talking to my mom about some garden projects and plants I want to transplant this year and she asked, WWLD? (What would Laura do?) 😆
Donna Kufus my husband and mom have heard me referring to garden answer videos so many times and I always get a blank look, so I told them both that I’ll just say “Laura” when telling them about something I’ve seen her do😂😂😂😂
@@cherylschumacher1832 Great Idea, I helped a couple of sisters revamp a section of their garden & I told them that before I gave my help, they needed to watch at least 2 garden answer videos. I have gotten 3 sisters to view a couple videos, but they are not up to my 6 videos a week.
I’m thankful to have a grower’s outlet nearby. Their prices are highly discounted ant it helps so much, Thanks for the inspiration. Now to go shop! ❤️😉👍
You may have addressed this but I admit I haven't watched as much this past week. How close are the fires to you and your family and parents and siblings? I'm partial to you but pray for all the people out West who are being affected by these fires. May God keep you all safe!
Laura, would you consider doing a video on different root situations in newly purchased potted plants/trees? You always talk about it a bit when you plant something, but I'm never totally sure if I should tease or not tease and to what extent. I'd love some closeups and tips on different situations. Thanks!
I think this is my favorite container of the season. I love warm bright colors in my garden and will try a variation of this planting in my landscape. Beautiful!
Love this - Thanks for your encouraging presentations! (Psst, Aaron - it’s totally OK to include some of the shenanigans of your garden buddies, Cheddar and Russell).
I never decorated for fall, that is until I found you last year. I’m cleaning containers up now and putting some together slowly - I really like this look and will have to attempt emulating. Thanks so much for the inspiration and expanding my horizons.
What a pretty combination for a fall planter. I used your advice and used Denim and Lace salvia in my summer pots and just transplanted them into the garden beds. Great way to stretch the budget! Thanks, Laura and Aaron for the great ideas and videos!
Laura you have inspired me to try flowers again. So much so that I am going to plants some bulbs for the first time in my life. I passed some Alliums in the store today and immediately can you hear talking about how much you love them. They will have to go into pots but wish me luck.
Until I started watching your channel, I always planted only annuals in containers. This year, though, has been so different. I now plant containers with perennials that I want for new garden areas that are just in the planning stage. The bonus is, I can invest in a one gallon size plant for the container, and by next year when the new garden area is ready, I’ll have a three gallon size plant ready to go. Bonus: I then have an empty container ready to fill with new things! Here in the valley of central California, the smoke and air quality are so bad, working the garden is really not a good idea, but a half an hour or so planting up a big container, and then placing it and hooking it up to the drip, allows me to get my hands dirty and plant some new things without being outside too long. Thanks for the inspiration!
Cheryl Linebarger I feel your pain about not being able to get outside! I'm in the hazardous smoke here in Oregon. Well, our entire state is covered now, as well as Washington and of course most of California. My focus now is just keeping perennials alive. I won't be adding any plants this fall, but taking notes for next year. Stay safe, everyone who is suffering from weather, fires, and being displaced. ❤️
Dayum! That looks brilliant! Just the colours. Thank you for sharing the beauty with us Laura. From the garden city of India to you, have a fantastic week. Cheers and God bless!
Thank you for some fall inspiration! I would love to see when you take this apart and plant everything out. I appreciate all you both do! You always manage to bring some sunshine and positivity into my home. Bless you both. ❤️
Thank you, I started today to tear down my tired summer pots. So I maybe taking a trip to our Petitis and get some fall flowers. I love the idea of getting them now and be ready for next year. Thanks for the inspiration!
I added yellow dogwood stems and they lasted fall, winter and to my surprise on until the next year. I want to try the red twig dogwood stems this year. Thanks for sharing your ideas but more importantly, your happy place!

My front porch and back porch are covered, and I've been wanting to spruce them up seasonally. Thank you!!!
Really pretty! For me, I’d leave out the rose so I could see the fountain grass more. I just love their graceful shape and how they move in the wind.
Most, if not all, of the garden centers near me have very little in the way of fall flowers, buying them in the spring is just practical!
Love the idea of the roses in this pot, I never would have thought it would work. Just lovely
Beautiful flowers! Would have never thought to add a rose but it looks great.
🌻Happy Fall Y’all 🌻
I was just looking at fall plants at the store. I’m going to head back in and buy!🌿🌺🌿
I was a little worry about all the different plants you were going to plant but you got the touch you make it happen. It looks amazing. Love it 💕🌸🍀🌸🍀
It looks gorgeous and very motivational!🎃
Awww fall, so nice! Looks great Laura!
Same drove by but went back to buy plants after this video!
Me too I need to buy mums 🏵️
Oh my word!! It’s beautiful! You’ve taught me soooooo much about planting flowers 💐!!!
Thank you.
This pot turned out beautiful! Great Job!
Pretty. I love fullness. You. An also dig up perennials from the garden for fall planters and then put them back in the garden later. Saves a little dough!
I can't believe Fall is here already. Your video inspires me to get started planting.
You never fail... I was a little concerned when I saw the rose bush go in, but it all came together nicely in the end.
I’m loving this combo so much, guess I’m going plant shopping😜 I’ll be scratching my head “what would Laura buy” 😂
Cheryl Schumacher I was talking to my mom about some garden projects and plants I want to transplant this year and she asked, WWLD? (What would Laura do?) 😆
My sisters have heard me quote Garden Answer so many times that one of them said do I work for Garden Answer. That is a compliment for sure. Smile.

Their prices are highly discounted ant it helps so much,
Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks!
You seriously make me wanna do ALL of the things!! So grateful for finding your channel 🙏 🙌 ❤

I do love that pot! The colors of plants you put together are beautiful and so fall. Good job. That will look lovely anywhere you place it.
I was just wondering what to plant below my orange rocket barberry! Now I know! Thanks for the great ideas and inspiration!
Going plant shopping in the my garden! Thank you Laura for your gorgeous inspiration and your down to earth suggestions!!
I never decorated for fall, that is until I found you last year. I’m cleaning containers up now and putting some together slowly - I really like this look and will have to attempt emulating. Thanks so much for the inspiration and expanding my horizons.
Yeah. She had me creating fall containers each year.

What a pretty combination for a fall planter. I used your advice and used Denim and Lace salvia in my summer pots and just transplanted them into the garden beds. Great way to stretch the budget! Thanks, Laura and Aaron for the great ideas and videos!
Absolutely gorgeous container!! Gosh, I just love those cats!!!
Love the pot. And yes I was surprised with the red but it looks beautiful. BTW, the cats are just perfect for the videos.
You did inspire me to plant a discarded double laundry tub with lots of fall flowers!

I feel your pain about not being able to get outside! ❤️
That is such a beautiful arrangement. I love the color palette you chose. It has given me some great ideas. Thank you.
Could not stop looking at this pot! I guess the roses must be thornless as well as beautiful?
Dayum! That looks brilliant! Just the colours. Thank you for sharing the beauty with us Laura. From the garden city of India to you, have a fantastic week. Cheers and God bless!
I love the variety of plants that you choose. You always plant such beautiful containers.
Thank you for some fall inspiration! I would love to see when you take this apart and plant everything out. I appreciate all you both do! You always manage to bring some sunshine and positivity into my home. Bless you both. ❤️
You are so adorable. Your videos always bring a smile to my face. And your container arrangements are always beautiful.
That looks so pretty!!! I’m so ready for fall, the colors and the weather will be a god send.
Thoughts and prayers going to all affected by Oregon tragic fires.
Thank you, I started today to tear down my tired summer pots. So I maybe taking a trip to our Petitis and get some fall flowers. I love the idea of getting them now and be ready for next year. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yes it is a great inspiration. Love that you used perennials that can be used in the spring. Plus, love your kitties
I live in Florida but I love watching you guys I get so many ideas I love gardening thank you f
Beautiful. I am waiting for the last heatwave next week, and then I'll be starting my fall plantings. Love that container.
I added yellow dogwood stems and they lasted fall, winter and to my surprise on until the next year. I want to try the red twig dogwood stems this year. Thanks for sharing your ideas but more importantly, your happy place!
Wow such a beautiful arrangement again so much flowers 💐 🤩🤩 but still looks gorgeous.
