Lisa is a veteran and extremely experienced vocalist. Her voice is so versatile if you listen to her records. She's very intentional with the way she sings to tell the story of her songs.

  • @jumbeaux1

The lyrics is deeply philosophical about losing someone. The way she sang reminds you of the same emotions that the main protagonist in Demon Slayer felt during the climactic scene in the movie that this OST is referring to. Sadness, anger and determination.
She is the best anime OST singer.

It's sad that when she toke this video, she had a marital problems with her husband.
That was the most painful and difficult time in her life. Then she toke emotion and energy to her job and stay alive under high stress.
She was the most strong-hearted I've known.

There is another song from her in this same show, called "Gurenge". In this other song she flips entirely all the things she does, and a variety of tones and vocal tricks are used there. You can't miss it, the performance is as charming and awesome as in this song.

i'm quite familiar with technicalities that's why i also enjoy this channel. i was in a choir. but as a band vocalist when i was younger, i leaned more towards raw singing... sometimes when you go too technical, the performance can be close to perfect but also a little less emotional... this is why i love lisa and especially this performance... how can someone be this talented and creative to make each note that's in a phonetic language always sound interesting and captivating... each syllable! her singing pierces my soul.
please do her gurenge performance too. 💜

After all the notifications that this channel has sent only this has caught my attention. Glad you loved it it's actually a theme song for the sacrifice of a swordsman to save his two alies and then this sacrifice was the driving force of the other swordsman to finish their mission no matter how injured, hurt, how many died and it all paid off because in the end they were victorious and the line "kokoro o moyase" is probably the most iconic.
Edit: oh and also Homura means "flame" or "fire"

what's best about homura is that not only does it mean flame which we can see the obvious link to rengoku, the flame pillar, but the word also means a heart that is fulled by strong emotions and desire, which we could see by Rengoku's desire to protect the people on the train and his belief that the fledgings he protects (the protagonist trio) will eventually soar through the sky and protect people just like him (nezuko included)

I don't know if you know about her personal feelings behind this song (she says something after the end of the song and I think it's related to her ex husband cheating on her) but you can clearly tell this song means a lot to her, too.

SAIKAI is a duet with a singer named Uru, and they recorded the song separately, so this "The first take" was not only the first time they sang together, but also the first time they saw each other.
HOMURA was very moving at the end of the song, but the performance in SAIKAI made me feel happy. It is a song that shows a completely different side.

The song 'Homura' was co-written by Yuki Kajiura , who is considered a master in the Japanese anime music world, and LiSA.
And there is a group that Ms Kajiura organised himself in pure pursuit of musicality.
The group is called KALAFINA, which has overwhelming singing ability and high musicality.
All of the group's songs are provided by Ms Kajiura.
The following is very similar to the image of this song, so I am sure you will like it.

Man you have to watch the anime and you'll understand why is this song so tense. I literally cried on first listen of this version (after watching the anime)
This is actually much more touching than the original MV because of the raw live emotion she put in.
She mentioned that there's alot going on in her life, (not gonna say much about it) but there's so much hurdles in her life around this time and ppl around her. Normal person would've break down but she use that as a strength and create this masterpiece.

the delivery of this song is just that perfect so even a mistake is adding the salt to the wound, for example, the 2nd phrase of the chorus, 1st chorus she's using falsetto, and at the final chorus she's using chest voice which add the emotional damage to those who watch the anime and understand the lyrics.
plus speaking of the composition of this song is out of this world imo.
the modulations are insanely perfect for the lyrical journey. and after the 2nd verse, the music goes into interlude instead of chorus with 5 semitone modulation just.... perfect

Lisa is one of the best japanese singers there are, and maybe even beyond that. She definitely needs more recognition outside the anime community, where her songs have already shown their huge worth.

At this point it's not even the song itself that makes me cry. ITS HER!!!
"You have to keep on living no matter how hard it gets"
Yes queen! Stab me again with your knife of truth, why don't you!?
Anyway, I will never not lose my mind at how great she is

I have my degree in piano performance, so I don't know a whole bunch about singing. But I do know a lot about music. I listen to a lot of Japanese music and one thing I've noticed, and you notice it here with LiSA and her vocal melodies, js that they have the most unique, interesting, and enjoyable melodies ever. I'm not sure where all the interesting melody writing comes from in Japan, but it's so different than anything else you hear around the world and so damn enjoyable to listen to.

Whose melodies do you like from Japan apart from Lisa?

    • @TheHeroRobertELee
      @TheHeroRobertELee 2 года назад

@@hayek218 Eir Aoi comes to mind. Tk - unravel. Glassy sky from tokyo ghoul. There's a bunch downloaded onto my phone I'd have to look. But even video game and anime music comes to mind. I regularly scroll through stuff and try to find things popular in Japan but because a lot of the music on their channels is with Kanji or whatever, j cant read it and dont remember the names. Ive got a bunch on my phone though. Unique original melodies you don't just get from the west.
Why do you ask? You got any recommendations?

LiSA x Uru - Saikai should be one that would blow your minds. two COMPLETELY different singers, singing a duet in a song that shouldn't work for the pair, but it does. and all "rules" are pretty much broken between the two singers

Whether you heard this song before or after the anime film it came from, its a beautiful song. But darn, after I already watched the anime film during the covid break, this song always puts me in a nostalgic and melancholy mood. Its a tear jerker of a lyrical song. She really did a lot of vocal tricks in order for the song's lyrics to be as impactful and emotive as it could. Technique versus vocal decision mixed in. I love it.
