The film also stars Carla Gugino (“Night at the Museum,” TV’s “Entourage”), Alexandra Daddario (“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” TV’s “True Detective”), Ioan Gruffudd (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), Archie Panjabi (TV’s “The Good Wife”), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Australian TV’s “Home and Away”), Art Parkinson (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti (“Cinderella Man”).
“San Andreas” is produced by Beau Flynn (“Hercules,” “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”). Richard Brener, Samuel J. Brown, Michael Disco, Rob Cowan, Tripp Vinson and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Carlton Cuse, story by Andre Fabrizio & Jeremy Passmore.
The creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Steve Yedlin (“Looper”), production designer Barry Chusid (“The Day After Tomorrow”), editor Bob Ducsay (“Godzilla”), VFX producer Randall Starr (“Into the Storm”), VFX supervisor Colin Strause (“The Avengers”), and costume designer Wendy Chuck (“Twilight”). The music is by Andrew Lockington.
“San Andreas” was shot on location in The Gold Coast and Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The film is slated to open in theatres in both 3D and 2D on Friday, May 29, 2015.
New Line Cinema presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a FPC Production, “San Andreas.” It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

For those who don't know, the san andreas fault is an area where two tectonic plates are pushing up against each other. It is very real and scary. Since I live in LA, they teach about it in school. This is clearly an exaggerated version though
but how realistic will it be when our protagonists survive all this debris and shit coming after them and they pretty much being invincible without being beaten to near death with scratches, bruises, and possily 3 lost limbs? In a HELLICOPTER or whatever vehicle can survive the timelapse of a disaster waiting 6 minutes to consume our actors giving them enough time to climb up and escape? Yea well...when it happens...and it WILL happen, you won't be glad. To be honest, i moved out here to LA knowing it was earthquake country, but damn i didn't realize what was coming. I'm at the point in my life where i'll be buying a house soon, and insurance premiums are going to be ridiculous just because the chance of this happening is so high during the life of a 30 year mortgage. I argued with my father in law...but i'll take my Iowa tornadoes, with the ability to predict and early warning, with such a small likelyhood of being affected, than an earthquake that you CANNOT avoid, have ZERO warning, and will destroy everything... Kinda crazy knowing people pay such sick amount to live out here because of the weather, knowing this will happen...and soon.

I did a piece about the effects of a bomb on the San Andreas fault line. Basically i would be like hitting a already shattered mirror with a hammer. The pressure released by the tectonic plates would go on for years untill they settled again. NONE would be in a helicopter. NONE would be driving in their cars. But then again its a movie.
And here I am, hoping for a GTA movie.

no joke a Massive Earth Quake and Major Scale will happen there mabe not the same in the video but it will happen 100% Fact. 2012 thing was a Myth. the World was suppose to be destroyed as we know it about 10-20 times by now.... the Next Myth or Legend is support to be Nefbrui(a Red Dawf Star) or what ever.. is suppose to fly through our solar system in the next 2 years... next year it will most likly show its face in movies........ that being the Case like in the movie we should be seeing signs of it now.

I think the disaster in this movie will happen. Because anytime now the tectonic plate of America and Pacific will move. And if it moved, it will cause tsunamis and Great Earthquakes. You know why? because San Francisco and California is affected by the Pacific's Ring of Fire. You will see what I mean if you go to the water below the Golden Gate Bridge. You will see various of cracks there. I don't know in California because I haven't been in there. But anytime now IT WILL SURELY MOVE. This is the facts i can give.

me didnt know that. thanks for letting me know but both the films are pretty much the same filled with full of cgi, a guy trying to save his family, no story, etc.
Every film has a story and plot. Whether it's good or not is another discussion (just a pet peeve of mine lol).
Not exactly 2012 was a overblown all in one disaster movie that was essentially a thinely covered version of worlds collide. No one really gave two shits about the characters everyone was in there for the scenes. San Andrea's is more of a remake of the old 1974 Earthquake just updated. The quake looks more realistic and its obvious the movie has studied quake motions look at the city skyline when the wave of the quake is moving. the buildings are swaying as they do in real life during a quake and the wave motion has been seen by helicopter pilots in Japan during the big quake there. If I'm correct the main quake event will be roughly around 5-6 minutes making it a 9.0 or higher just like the japan quake and the quake from the movie in 1974. It will probably be more character driven but I'm sure the movie is to make people aware about how close California is to a major quake.
They aren't that inventive or ready to take risks in Hollywood. That's why they've made a movie of every comic strip ever invented. Most are already really well known.

Calvin edward I think they're referring to how the movie itself is essentially 2012 in construct with it being central focused on a few people, buildings collapsing, action and then it all just settles. Granted, that's not the first movie to do this; I remember a Korean movie with a tsunami with the same setup, but for the U.S, 2012 was the last to do this.
