- Hawkman uses his prowess to fend off invaders from Pluto.
This adventure, Peril From Pluto, was originally part of the Hawkman feature that was screened on the Aquaman half hour show that was part of the Superman Aquaman Hour of Adventure in 1967.
There were three Hawkman episodes in total. In syndication this was repeated as part of a stand alone Aquaman TV series and then resurfaced again with a new introduction as part of the Superman Batman Adventures on cable networks. Hawkman was a member of the Justice League and Super Friends.
The original broadcast is available on DVD compiled as Filmation Super-Heroes by Warner Home Video.
Well, at least they got the costume right! ;-)
Yes.
This isn't Justice League of America, this is a Hawkman episode.
Yes.
HAWKMAN in:
PERIL FROM PLUTO
"Your rays cannot harm me--my wings are like a shield of steel!"
This wasn't the Justice League cartoon. It was just Hawkman. In 1967 there were Superman, Aquaman (with aqualad and "pet sidekicks"), Green Lantern (with Kyro), Atom, Flash (with kid Flash), Hawkman (with Skreel) Justice League (all the aforementioned adults) and Teen Titans (Wondergirl, Speedy, kid Flash & Aquaman) All had there own cartoons. Though only 3-6 of each were ever made.
these cartoons are primative
And I wish he'd kept the original title sequence, so we'd know who wrote this particular cartoon.
The Distructo-Claw!
The original superfriends
"Hop aboard, Skreel." "Keep your claws crossed, Skreel." The writers must have been laughing their a@@s off.
Did anyone else think it was weird how Hawkman was able to stand the freezing temperatures of Pluto without any protective clothing?
His nipples are like a shield of steel.
Or be able to survive outer space for a limited time in a JLA story.
This Hawkman creeps me out because his voice actor usually does all the villains.
I believe Vic Perrin voiced Hawkman; this particular villain, Kobara, was unmistakably voiced by the late, great Paul Frees.
The good old days of animation
Nice!
These are the "real" heroes of justice
Ain't Pluto Supposed to be Freezing Cold
lovely
Anyone else notice "wonderGirl" in opening credits?😊
From filmation to hanna barbera

Hawkman was a cop from thanagar & his job on earth was curator of midway city museum. Who ever wrote these stories didn't read the comics. They're idiots.
It was written by George Kashdan, who was a staff writer for DC Comics. Why Hawkman was made a scientist, I don’t know. Understandably, they couldn’t use Hawkgirl, so they gave him a bird for a sidekick. Maybe Kashdan saw an episode of Hanna-Barbera’s “Birdman”.
Smokin’ hot Wonder girl
Why wasn’t Batman with them... I remember this as a kid but never noticed that Batman wasn’t there
David belk BATMAN quit the team to ficus on Gotham City
As he should. He's alot more entertaining when they're not trying to shoehorn him in with all the godly heroes.
This cartoon first aired in 1967. Batman wasn't part of the show until the following year.
I'm 5 years late to reply, but these were made when the live Batman TV show was still on and its producer had exclusive rights to the characters of Batman and Robin. No other show live or animated could be produced at the same time. After the live show was cancelled, Filmation did make Batman cartoons.
Batman came later
Who is more powerful? Hawkman or Birdman?
No Batman?
The Affirmative Action League; The Red Menace. Ghetto Blaster, The Hasidic Faygala Coprophagia Rex, Rainbow Skittles and Obama the Wonder Chimp
I laughed at that last one far harder than I should have.
What year did this come out?
1967.
