I discovered the Pumpkins when I was 12, in 1996. They were my musical identity for so, so many years. Every song of theirs through 2012, to me, is magic. I would give you a list of all my favorite songs if I thought you could get through them all. If you ever want a suggestion on a deep dive song from them, hit me up.
Anyway, I just found your channel, and you earned a sub.
    Thank you. 👏

Good taste, Cadence. Gish is by far my fave album. This was when they were more garage psychedelic and not atypical grunge, which sadly they morphed into in later albums.

Check out the live version they did of this song on 1997-01-08 at GM Place, Vancouver. It'll melt your ears. 😄

Yes! This was actually the song I was thinking of when I mentioned Gish last time. The loud-quiet-loud thing was something a lot of the early 90's era bands did. The Pixies (another great band to check out) were kind of the ones who pioneered that technique.

Always have respect for lead singer front men who also play guitar, it goes back to the roots, the Blues, one man alone with a battered acoustic guitar and his voice, it is an iconic part of American lore and the true source of all that we know as music today (and respect to all the fabulous women in the blues) - but that old crossroads Robert Johnson myth, selling his soul to the devil to be the best player - it is an iconic part of America and music. Those original Mississippi delta blues players from the 20's to the 40's especially, most never made a dime, no one knew their names, they'd go from town to town, playing at field parties, run down juke joint, anywhere someone would listen and give them drinks or a few coins...and now they are worshipped by 10's of millions - so interesting. At some point, check out people like Robert Johnson, Son House, Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broonzy, Mississippi Fred McDowell - Lightning Hopkins - the list is long. Then it evolved to electric Chicago blues, BB King, T-Bone Walker and company. All the way to SRV. And influencing all these bands we are listening to here the entire time. Anyway, I divert, Billy Corgan shreds, plus has a second lead guitar, part of their sound - nothing against some of the most awesome pure singers, Layne and Eddie (they can play but not well enough to decide to do it much if ever when performing or recording) or Robert Plant, etc - but their is something special when your singer is also ripping it on the guitar, rhythm or lead, that has my extra dose of respect.

I can't strongly enough recommend you listen to their album Siamese Dream. It's one of the greatest albums from the 90s. If you want a good song to react to, listen to "Cherub Rock" or "Rocket" both are amazing.

Oh yes, I've heard it front to back, many times over. It's the only album I've heard from them before doing these reactions and one of the reasons I wanted to explore them more. You're right, Siamese Dream is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Lot of Pumpkins music has a mystical vibe to it. Part of why it's so cool.

This has been a great reaction channel so far - your song selection has been top-notch and you have a very chill, easy-to-listen to disposition. My suggestion for taking it to the next level is to start to analyze and rate the songs a little. How about a 1-5 star rating system for each song? Don't worry - you won't scare people off. People don't want reaction channels where the reactor loves everything. I'm not saying be a jerk about it, but adding some kind of rating system and explanation of what you liked (and maybe didn't like) would make this like a top tier music reaction site. Anyway - my two cents. Either way, love what you're doing.

Another great reaction to the best band ever to exist imo.. if you want to hear how diverse they can be, you should listen to eye or Ava adore or 1979
