Who just can from the premier. Love the vids dude. Keep it up. Don’t get discouraged am so excited to see more from 2jp. When do you guys do on a ride with the talon is that soon???
PLEASE DON'T USE THAT CRANK! It took a HUGE uneven shock, you would never see fractures ect... My opinion, you are dead on with the diag.. You simply exceed the strength of the engine's hard parts. Please people don't blame Don as a engine builder and tuner. 💩 happens. Love y'all! 😊🇺🇲💚
@@RedmistAU 2jz here in Aust have been known to be relaible to 800hp on stock internals , only ARP head bolts .. beyond that you have a rod problem and it 1000 plus you have a caps problem .. so above 800 rods and caps is a good thing to do .. some of the gurdles out there are questionable, in my opinion .
Rick, I appreciate the honesty. That isn’t an easy pill to swallow but all of you have worked so hard to make it work. It’s an unknown world you stepped in and you are all being positive. I think you fellas are going to figure it out and this puppy is going to come back stronger than ever! I appreciate everyone’s hard work and wish this project the best
Holy crap Don thanks for the response. I think what you have done is great. Can't believe you saw my post and responded. It's like a super star heard what I had to say.
Things like this happen when your going hard you got to know things can break and they did but the good thing is that S&SBlog are no quieter so I know your coming stronger and I can't wait to see it a big tums UP to you and your team for never giving up.
So much respect for how you guys and Don handled the whole situation. Another nod to Don for having his flag folded properly when not being displayed. Can't wait to see where this build goes.
Clearly not dons fault. In the tuning video on the dyno they encouraged him to turn it up as they knew the limits of a stock block. Break, fix, repeat it’s how racing goes with big power on the table.
Only thing you need is BILLET MAIN CAPS!!! Stock 2jz blocks just hold alot of power, you only need a billet block when the block itself flexes till it cracks or blows head gaskets. The only thing holding the crank down were the sides of the block because the caps cracked in half, all the pressure goes to the side of the block and the main cap bolts if the caps crack, that's why the block cracked. Even a billet block can't hold that pressure, it would have been out of spec or spin a bearing. The main caps take all the pressure from the powerstroke (down), and the motion of the crank turns it into a spinning movement. Just think about it. This is also the reason why some aluminum and even iron blocks (like the barra) have an girdle over and arround the main caps.
Hey Rick, you guys should wrap/paint 2JP with a bright/unique livery with “SXSBlog” large on the sides and hood of the car. This beast is eventually going to go viral and you guys will wished you’d watermarked your asset. I‘he learned the hard way in similar engagement opportunities.. many times. Lol. Love what you guys are doing 💪🏼
I have said it so many times to so many people in so many different but similar situations as this: "I NEVER learn ANYTHING from what I do right. I ALWAYS have the ability to learn something from what I do wrong. There are no problems in life. ONLY opportunities for solutions!" I can see it, and look forward to it, coming back better and badder! Billet block and all the best stuff in it this time. Overbuild it, and 1000 to 1500 HP will be safe and reliable. It is gonna be AWESOME! As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
Damn I hate to see this... I know some people will look at this and say that sucks, this truly hurts coming from a racer stand point. All the late nights, money, blood, sweat and tears are paper weights now. You guys will get her figured out and come back stronger 💪💪🤘🤘
@sxsblog i would put an s&b particle separator on it. I live in havasu in the desert and 2 hr from glamis, they are hands down the best thing for dusty air.
Hi guys, I'm a new arrival to your videos. I saw the thing go down track, Now I'm seeing the shop video of the carnage. So it's like I'm coming in ,in the middle of a conversation but I really enjoyed the shop talk. Now that I'm hooked , I hope you do another video to follow up on what you're doing. I enjoyed it, keep up the good work. Your fan Phillip the third. P.s. Is that a two bolt main caps?
Again what a spectacular failure, I loved it; but, I can't wait to see the mark II. I can't wait to see the new build on this new engine!!! Good Job guys, that's the way to send it!!!!!!
Wow nothing but the head is good. That’s crazy just like that blew the whole motor up ouch. Well I wonder what the turn around time will be on this new motor. Weeks or month’s only time will tell and I will be right here waiting and watching because I’m hooked for life.👍👍❤️❤️
That was impressive! 2 fold impressive. The damage to the block is wow, but the fact that the rotating assembly stayed intact and didn't shit the bed in a massive wad of high velocity shrapnel is crazy. Im blow away. So much awesome... in a not so awesome kind of way. Rick, what yr is your stang?
All we ever do to our 2jz is update the rods and head studs. We can make a reliable 980whp . First fully built engine we got sponsored to us it blew up on the dyno at about 640whp
Wow!! As Jeff Spicoli would say: Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it. (Fast Times at Ridgemont High)
Best Wednesday night I've had in while...2 Blog episodes in one night needs to happen more often!

I would open the transmission to check for stress cracks from crank moving around.
Definitely have it gone through!
Right at least pull the pump
shes getting fully rebuilt

Didn't think about the uneven shock. I agree with your assessment.
Yer please dont use any of the bottom end .. use it as a door stop .....
Nah he tuned a 2jz that he built, to over 700hp with no crank girdle. That's a well know failure waiting to happen.

Great video and can't wait to see the new 2jp back ripping 👍👍👍👍
That is a roof for sure. Well at least parts didn't hit Doug or get sprayed with hot coolant.
Damn right, glad he got out safe.
he had a bearing land in his lap
I'm sure the firewall won't be the last on the todo list next time.
Great narration by Rick. Good job!
I trust Don's assessment '' Build it better stronger ...
Made for great content, but sure hated to see it end that way. Can't wait to see what the next motor is going to produce.
Looks like a very solid start to sxsblog shop race car trophy wall....you already got plenty of axels for it now you have almost an entire engine
Sorry to hear bout 2jp engine
She just wanted to peak outside and see what sous was yell'n about🤷🏽♂️

Thanks for sharing the mess
Too much too quick!! That’s awesome carnage !! Keep up the great videos!! Can’t wait too see this thing back on the sand !!
Sell the autographed parts to viewer's....
Yep. Give away the signed parts. Don't toss em. Makes a cool item for the shop wall.
Please. That sounds cool

Damn, that is about as complete a failure as possible. When you don't even know if the crank survived, you blew it up good LOL
Thanks guys
Don has some of the best shirts
@sxsblogparts you guys should make class table for office out of the block.
Blessing in disguise now you guys can add more power
Woooooo weee, sploded it real good! It lasted long enough to hook Doug for life! 3000 seems like a gooder number!
so sad but worth the learning curve

To be fair I cleaned it for the teardown video a bit!

3000hp. Dam right.
Hey Rick. Nice shades. Do they sell men's sunglasses where you got those?😆
The bigger tires probably put more load on the motor and that load plus more boost equals things going out the bottom
yup. people dont take this into consideration.

Do you think the frame isn't rigid enough for the power too? And the frame is twisting resulting in this failure?
making that kind of power we always used main girdles or billet main caps.

I like those shades! Any info on them? I know very random but it’s hard to find good looking ones
all i could hear was a cash register in the background
Need to do a giveaway for some of the parts. I'll take the block, be an awesome piece to have hanging on the garage wall.
