(Not adding a time here) The Gaiark are good villains because they are conquering earth for their species. It's a simple, yet good motivation. They are all fun and memorable. Plus, seeing Yogostein mourn over the death of Hiramekimedies is sorrowful and is nice to see his soft side. Seeing antagonists care about their generals is something you don't see often. Its a true breath of fresh air. When yokoshimakuratein shows up, Kegalesia and Keitenais (Sorry if I'm spelling names wrong) have something of an internal conflict about ways to conquer the world.
What I'm getting at is the fact that you're being to hard on the Gaiark.
Probablyl because Gaiark sucks in my book? They're not Leo and Mele at all. Or any of the villains from the 90s.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I think you should try to be more optimistic. Pay close attention to the villian dialouge and you'd know there motivations and realize that the Gaiark have good motivations for what they do. I can't really compare them to Rio and Mele cause I have not yet seen Gekiranger. I have plans to though, once I finish all the Heisei phase 1 series.
@@thethadkamenriderfan9269 if the villains don’t feel like really threats to the world, then why should we take them seriously? At least the villains in Carranger were not only goofy to the point that you can take them seriously plus their evil plots may have been stupid, but we’re still threatening. Hell in one episode, they have a monster capture children so they can turn them in to watermelons and split their heads open.

lol It wasn't a miracle. It took a lot of hard work and the staff had to work extensively to account for Toei's half-assed, reckless nature. :-)

Actually Gaoranger happened and it's headwriter was stripped of his ability to be taken seriously ever again and then he wrote this show to try to get credibility back and was supposed to write sillier stuff than that.

Even with everything you said I still like this show. While it is a random goofy show filled with stupidity. Those are the reasons why I like it, everything is so out there and bizarre to the point I always wanted to know the next stupid adventure our heroes would go on and since it doesn't take its plot seriously it was just an easy entertaining time killer for me. But hey agree to disagree. love the review. Also what do you think of the current sentai show that's airing right now. I forgot the name, dropped it a long time ago.
Nothing wrong with that. Ryusoulger? I think it's crap so far. We're probably going to do another video after we get to watch the next batch of episodes we have.

Go-onger may be incredibly stupid, but to me it's a fun kind of stupid...(It may be because Go-onger was the first sentai I've ever watched, but still.)I view it in the same way as Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog: from start to finish, it may be nonstop brain-melting insanity, but a part of me will always have a soft spot for it.
Understandable. Gaoranger was my first Sentai show, so I have a soft spot for it, which is why it pained me to have to give it such a lackluster review, but that's just the nature of the beast. I wonder what will happen when I go to review Ryuki and Ultraman Tiga.

@@therussianwanderer4851 Engine Sentai Go-onger was a really hard series for me to give a final rating on, it frequently fluctuated between a high three and a low four. In the end I decided to give it the four, because it had a particularly strong ending

Fun fact power rangers RPM was airing around the same time as Kamen rider Dragon knight another American toku show and the fact that it won a daytime Emmy award just makes me very happy although this is also making me hopping that won't get more Kamen rider adaptations if Hasbro ever decides to adapt one of the sessions

@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Maybe after Go-onger, he was not proud of it, and decided to quit Toei along with Michiko Yokote after Goseiger due to Toei's executive meddling.
Just goes to show you the misconduct TOEI can do sometimes, You know a show is hated when it's creators decided to leave for parts unknown. (And by that I mean other studios) You know what's sadder,This shows legacy is cemented when another destroyed, thanks to the ego of of an American producer wanting to adapt a crossover all because that's what the Sentai wants. Thank you for nothing PR Samurai. This is why crossovers were killed off for a nearly a decade outside of Megaforce.
This is what I wrote on another comment as: "Sugimura syndrome, You either love Junki Takegami's stories or hate them, Megaranger and GoGo V being the most beloved, Gaoranger and this one being among the most reviled among the hardcore fans. That and like the late writer I'm referencing, Takegami hated his work being messed with preferring Much more character driven serialized work. He like Sugimora on Ohranger was not proud of this show and took his leave Take his leave after one of the most mediocre series (Goseiger) in the franchise which was not this one."

I have two theories for How the engine world and the engines were created.
1.) Dapp ,from carranger, and the magi rangers cast a spell on the seijuu (from Gingaman) and the power animals (from Gaoranger) to create the engines.
2.) (You might have to watch transformers cybertron to get the reference) But animatron (jungle planet/beast planet) and velocitron (speed planet) combined and all the inhabitants have animal car vehicle modes.
Also, this is the third explanation for the Dino extinction in sentai.
1.)Zyurangers with witch bandora
2.) Abarangers two earths and the dino's becoming bakuryuu.
3.)Meronderthal was responsible.
Well that's because the dino shows are all in separate universes. Each one has their own backstory.
#4: kyoryuger: deboss invasion
#5: ryusoulger: asteroid that started the ice age

Basically the head writer for the first half of Power Rangers RPM basically was horrified at the site of Go-Onger after he promised Disney a serious show, That would not only pull in younger boys but older fans too. (Especially at the site of the engines, I can't say what exactly said because it's full of swears and that would get the comment deleted, But it's funny but it's also sad and true at same time.)

Makes me think the previous showrunner of PR prior to Eddie (Bruce Kalish) before he was sacked and Judd Lynn came back, would made a mess of this majorly.
Not many people knew at the time, but Power Rangers was becoming the very thing The staff were fighting against: Americanized Super Sentai. I get it Time Force was a great adaptation but that's because he had a great staff and the executive producer who must not be named was kept at bay but once Wild Force went to production we got a taste of that style, now it took a bit of course correction to fight against that style but Disney was complaining about the martial arts and violence. It got real bad when the stunt director left and was replaced with Mark Harris, noticeably in the explosions wrongly credited to another to (particularly 1 Koichi Sakamoto) why the Disney Era after Dino Thunder explosions were so bad. If you go back, look for the stunt directors on PR. Between the years 2005 and 2007 You will find Harris' name on it, as opposed to Sakamoto's.
Why do I bring up this little fact: in a pre-Samurai era where everything went to everything went to the trash bin thanks to you know who returning and destroying the reputation for nostalgia of a bygone era, This was their last chance to prove that PR was not Americanized Sentai in RPM Yes, you can do humor if done well, balance it out with serious moments, fix moments that didn't work well with the source material and and for those who didn't have didn't find it provide actual fun. Basically it's kid friendly Mad Max or (is it a kid friendly version of the Terminator?) that happens the guest star brightly colored brightly colored superheroes all sponsored by Bandai America. (I can't say spandex for a certain doctor would say "that is not spandex" in nerd rage If I said it in her face)

I'm afraid I must disagree with you on this. I love Go-Onger mostly for the engines. And I hate RPM with a passion, due to lack any zords with voices and personalities of their own. And for Bandai of America going back to creating new molds instead of using the same molds like their previous take on Gekiranger/Jungle Fury.
I have not seen RPM yet, but the zords not being living vehicles alone already makes it better in my eyes.

That's the dumbest critique l've ever heard, you hate rpm not because of the story, characters, or writing but because the zords don't talk when rpm is a mature show, and having talking zords would break the serious atmosphere the series presents itself.

Also the engines are nothing but cheap knock-off versions of the Dino Buddies from Abaranger without all of the personal connections. (take that however as you may)

Well I can't speak for others, but comparing it to an anime is part of the issue in my world. It's just too silly and not in a funny kind of way.

All over the place. TV-Nihon, Over-Time, Wandering Moonbeams, Metallic Fansubs, MFC, GUIS, Bernadelt Subs, Anon, etc.
it's like they're trying to do the whole car ranger comedy thing car ranger is far funnyier why don't they do a good car themed sentai like turbo rangers that dosn';t rely on comedy :(
Probably because these days Toei puts their D and E teams on Sentai.

I just finished watching this Sentai and found that I agree with most of your review. I didn't even start watching until the Wings were introduced, with the intent to go back and catch up if I liked it enough. I didn't. The Wings were ok until they officially joined the team, then went downhill.
Yeah, it seems like a lot of people feel the same about this show as I do. Though, there are those that do love it, which there's nothing wrong with.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork There were a few good moments. The first appearance of the Wings, and the Christmas episode where Sousuke transformed to see off those burglars! But, unfortunately, they were too few and far between.

Wow I really don't have anything to say about this review or this series. I'm just not that crazy about this series. But I do have to say that I do like the G3 Princess song though. But that's because I have a thing for Japanese girls and I thought they were cute. Also what was the show you used for the joke at 16:14? I have no idea where that came from.

To be honest, i liked this season with its all stupidness.
It's the fresh air after many serious seasons, it's a entertaining filler season.
Only problem in this season is uneven character developments that only Gunpei got proper story.
But I agree about make every single character into stupid over time even the most serious character on this season.

I didn’t take the show very seriously so I enjoyed it more than probably most people would also understanding that it’s nothing like RPM
The problem was it wasn't supposed to be taken as a comedy series like Carranger. It was meant to be a serious series with comedic bits.

Well the reason I scored it so low is because I hated nearly every moment I sat through it. I had to force myself to watch more than 1 episode in a sitting at a time, and that is also a big factor that goes into my scores of a show, how many episodes can I get through in one sitting? If I can sit there and watch 10 episodes in one go, that means the show must be doing something right even if not everything is great. If I can barely get through an episode or two, that's bad, really bad.

The legendary 1 out of 5 has been accomplished and I don't blame you. Dear god, the CGI looks horrid and reminds me about why I consider modern sentai to be overly flashy/reliant on them to begin with. I really should watch RPM though, as they somehow made their own thing out of this and much better.
I just recently finished Wild Force, so RPM is next on my list.
Kinda shocked that RPM turned out so well considering how much of a flop this seemed to be. Glad they were able to adapt it well in that aspect. Ashame that Go-onger wasn't better

It was a critical flop, not a commercial one It was able to make 12 billion yen I believe. I may have to fact check that one
Edit: Yep, it made that much so did the next series, Shinkenger, 12 billion yen.
It's a shame they waited so long in Sentai for regular team ups. I would have loved to see the Zyurangers and Dairangers team up. Or the Dairangers and Kakurangers.

I think T-Line and K-Line are puns on how Japanese people pronounce the English names: Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops. They pronounce Tyrannosaurus as "Teeranozaurusu" and Triceratops as "Torikeratopsu". They took the "Teera" part of the former and the "Kera" part of the latter and added "in" at the end of each word to make it sound like "T-Line" and "K-Line".

The film version of 'Go-onger' (2018) was well-made in my opinion. By the way, Nao Oikawa was a hard-core adult actress before she played Kegareshia in 'Go-onger'.
I figured she was as she seemed like it.

There are series of Super Sentai and Power Rangers that are about crafting a good engaging story and then there's some series that are just blatant toy fests I believe this would fall in the category of just buy our toys.

I find the G3 Princess stuff to be nothing more than forced fanservice with a terrible song that belongs in a really bad porno. It also doesn't make sense why Kagalesia would even be there, they're supposed to be destroying the world, not singing together. It was out of character for her.

Kaiju no Kami Actually, the Gaiark want to DIRTY the Human World. Not DESTROY it entirely. They thrive on pollution and if an entire world is destroyed, there’s nothing for them TO pollute.

This isn't one of my favorites yet I couldn't bring myself to hate it, unlike Ohranger after episode 8.
See, Ohranger looks like a godsend compared to Go-On in my book. For Ohranger's faults, it was still a solid show overall and has far more rewatch value than this dumpster fire.

lmao I haven't moved since I finished the first disc back in March. I'm just going to have to plow through it, Ninja Storm, and RPM later on this Summer when I can find time to do so. Right now I'm finishing up Assassin's Creed Odyssey and working on both Rayearth Season 2 and JAKQ.

Even though I do like this show I can't stand the Sentai fandom saying that super Sentai is always better and trash pr just for not being the Sentai I mean I love this show and even I would say i like RPM much more like can we just agree that sometimes the adaptation is better than the source material

Suspected u wouldn't really like this one, the 2000s/2010s definetly had some of the worst sentai and from go-onger (with the exception of shinkenger, gokaiger and go busters), it kind of goes downhill from here...

I don't think there has been a good series since Gokaiger. Go-Busters at least tried to do something interesting even though the writing came off quite uninspiring. Enter at least had development and felt like a threat. No show since has had their villains feel at all like they could even kill a goldfish.
Even Lupin vs Pat, which started out strong, ended up just becoming another generic by the book show.

Yeah, while I like RPM as a show. G-Onger does have things about that make it a little better. I do like the villians in Go-Onger more than RPM. One thing for me that RPM has over Go-Onger besides better rangers is that the cleaner minister aka Kilobyte is in more episodes. Too bad RPM was all about Tanaya 7, who is the most annoying character in RPM for me.
All I know about RPM is it features the girl from iZombie, the dude from Jessica Jones, and it got rid of the mechs from talking, so that alone makes it a superior show in my eyes.

Well nothing well ever be as bad as Megaforce and Super Megaforce. Even Kyuuranger, which is my least favorite Sentai is better than Megaforce. Also at least the Go-Onger all did have some development compared to all the members of Ohranger. Oh and I just wanted to say this because I watched your Hurricanger review. Sandaruu is my absolute favorite male villain. As for my favorite female, I would have to say Pricious from Ryusoulger.

It's a VERY confusing situation. The subtitles say "she", but she uses phrases a guy would use. I count Pricious as a girl because she is voiced by one and the subtitles translates it to "she." I think Toei wanted to make a badass female, but there did want to lose their male viewership so they made Pricious seem male just so they could have a cool female main villian without dealing with sexism.
It is confusing. Kyuuemon was also voiced by a woman and was a boy. So is Goku in Dragonball and Bart Simpsons, so it's not like gender really matters for voices.
Honestly though, I hate Ryusoulger, so I don't care either way.

I respect that you don't like the comedy or the show, I don't mind that (although how can you complain of puns when most of Sentai names are puns, it's kinda pointless to complain about that after everything else), so don't take it that I am questioning your taste in comedy, just your taste in beauty.
I don't think the idea of having three women dressed up in pink is what turns him off. Its just that the writers clearly had no idea on what to do with these characters. And that should not be a problem because this franchise has been going on for over 40+ years and you would expect better from Toei and Super Sentai. *NOT WORSE!!!* I mean, it's no wonder why people would rather talk more about Kamen Rider and Ultraman nowadays, instead of talking about modern-day Super Sentai shows.
Things like G3 Princess don't belong in a Sentai show.
Plain and simple.
Live-action isn't anime. Something that Go-Onger and a lot of other modern series tend to forget.
I felt the G3 Princess thing was out of place, forced, and unnatural. The three girls just randomly do this whole 5 minute idol training thing and then are suddenly expert singers and crap. Then they do it again later on in the show. It didn't make me laugh at all, it just made me cringe. It doesn't help that the song itself is generic. It also doesn't make sense with Kagelesia's character.
It’s kinda funny - Power Rangers RPM tried way too hard be edgy and dark, kinda the opposite of Go Onger.
RPM was so damn good though.
I think I still take RPM over this I know some like it and thats fine me I prefer the power ranger version

Toqger is pretty good actually. Not my favorite sentai but still a decent series
I consider Kyuranger and LupvsPat both waisted potential. Toquyger and Nininger both were really bad. Thinking about it Kyurouger and Zyouger were the last sentai series I throughly enjoyed. Ryusoulger has yet to grip me, it has had jokes I have laughed at, but the lack of a main villain so far is hurting the show. I am only 7 episodes in so far, and it is not looking good.

Gunbar-oh is similar to gao hunter from gaoranger. They are both formed from a canine(gunperd or gaowolf), an alligator(carrigator or gaoligator), and a fish(birca or gaohammerhead.).

This feels like the reverse of what of happened with turbo and RPM think about it turbo was the session that almost killed power rangers until in space came to save ratings and then came RPM another car themed season but despite of the Goofy look it turned out to be one of the best and darkest pr seasons and much better than it's Sentai counterpart feels kind of weird doesn't it 🤨?

There were some aspects I’m kind of confused in this review
1. you say Masahiro Usui does a fine job as Hanto yet you weren’t a fan of his episode where he starts cross-dressing.
2. You say Gunpei was your favorite Ranger in the show And you show a clip from Go-Onger episode 28. Which episode would you say Gunpei lost his serious edge ?
Gunpei was my favorite because he's the only one who didn't get on my nerves most of the time. However, I still feel like they ruined him with the pen episode,
Honestly, I can't answer #1 anymore because I don't even remember what you are referring to at this point. Nevertheless, the actor portraying their character just fine is separate from me not liking the character itself. Like Sosuke's actor is a fantastic person, but I still don't like Sosuke.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I’ll admit I probably should’ve rewarded the first aspect a bit better but at the same time there is this one cliché idea I had for Hant ( this idea is basically similar to Ako and Sena from Jetman and Kriamager ) and that idea is balancing Hanto’s life as both a Go-Onger and an employee at his job. Maybe Hanto getting paid at his job could help out the other Go-Ongers ( mostly Ren ) get more variety with their food for example since they’ve mostly been eating omelettes due to how poor they are.

If the rating is low blame it on the low ratings because of the adult themes which made it very short. They did put the effort to lighten it up by introducing Big One.

Nothing wrong with that. I am a completionist, so I often tend to watch a Sentai show from start to finish at some point.
Just try not to take it so seriously and you might enjoy it
You also forgot about Go-on vs Geki continuity error: Yogostein is here somehow, despite him being defeated G12 and Sousuke, despite G12 debuting in "the end of Yogostein" arc.
I wouldn't say that is a continuity error since the VS movies are never canonical. They always have a continuity error in them just like how the DBZ and Sailor Moon movies are not canonical to the shows.
I watched Go on vs Geki without watching Go Onger and it didn't bother me in the slightest cuz I thought it was a great crossover film with the Gekirangers basically being mentors to the Go Ongers.
