I almost cried when you kicked that motor over without any oil in the cylinder!! At least a few squirts of marvel to free up the rings and save the poor ancient cylinder wall. Man. 😮
Tell John to put one of the "non H" model rear sprockets on his "H" model bike, and that will gear it up and take advantage of the extra power that the CT70H engine has. Do that and they go a LOT faster...😅
When you drive the deuce and a half double clutching helps . the lever on the floor doesn't shift it into high range it engages the front drive line for the 6x6 .
Now you got me wanting to look closer at my ct70 to see if it is an H model. I know that it has the same script on the side, and it has a manual 4 speed transmission. I even think the paint is a pearl, but it is green instead of orange. The only bummer is that the kick-start lever came off from the cast aluminum block.😢 but it will still push start. Love the video. Thank you for the info on where to find parts for these bikes, too. Happy New Year, guys🎉
Just starting the show, but I wanted to say I'm so jealous. Here in Washington, we can barely find these. I have been watching 2 different ones that are in horrible shape, yet they still wantb$300-500 each. Both are seized, crazy amount of rust for our region, and just pieces of junk. And it hurts me to call any old bike a piece of junk! I'm damn near ready to relocate to your region!
8:38 - Please make it a shorty reverse trike w/ a little "50cc" motor and the CT-35 badge... It might even be able to hold a stock motor without replacing the front the guy cut off. 😂
My dad did a tractor rim on the tailgate of his pickup chopping out a wedge of rim around the rusted out valve and stick welding a new wedge in place, drilling a new valve hole and rocking on!
Very cool nostalgia episode with your Dad and the old stomping ground. He is a class act and giving you the "buddy price" on detail work brought a tear to my eyes! 😂
You guys forget that the "H" model engine has a spark advance flywheel that makes those engines run a LOT better than the standard CT70's. But the "H" engine also has a rare special crankshaft that has a longer snout on it for the spark advance flywheel, and a special thinner breaker/stator plate... So you can't just put an "advance" flywheel on a standard CT70 crankshaft....
i love these ct70s i have a 1970 ct70 someone started swapping or had previously swapped the h engine in it and converted it to the manual and it has has a few issues we think it needs a top end rebuild when we got it the owner was starting to do thst at woth a honed cylinder ajd we put rings on it and everything else was used cam head everything ajd now sometimes it’s hard at starting ajd slightly smoky and when you run it a while on the road at higher rpm’s it is almost impossible to start and we don’t know what it is
That CT35 should have been built up to be functional and be the backup ride, imagine rolling up on Ike's new truck on half a bike... :P (and that traffic queue, yeah, that's basically british roads in the summer when someone towing a caravan just can't do the speed limit!)
I have been stuck under a car pulling the engine when we disturbed wasps. Me and a friend got stung way too many times. I am afraid of wasps now, and don't care if someone makes fun of me for it. Lol.
Hey!, I'm almost 100% sure that CT70H engine has a manually adjustable timing chain tensioner built into it. If it has an adjustable cam chain tensioner it'll have a locking nut on a set screw on the crankcase right in front of where the shifter shaft goes into the left side crankcase. To re-tension it, you turn the engine to TDC compression stroke, loosen the lock nut, then loosen the set screw with a flathead screwdriver, then an internal spring will automatically take up/out the cam chain slack. Then just re-tighten the set screw, and re-tighten the lock nut, and it's done... Ohp, one of the few that doesn't have one. That ones must be super rare, it's an oil pressure tensioned timing chain, on an "H" model...
1hr 18 min 00 sec. That looks like johns weld there on the truck, his TIG weld, paint and all, walk by that thing reach out and rip ur shirt off 🤣 lmao
That 1969 K0 you have is a "silver tag" or the very first run. You can tell on the back end of the frame where the tail light wires go through the frame, there's a hole with a grommet. The VIN tag on the neck should be "silver" and the VIN numbers should be very low, somewhere less than 15,000? That's not correct but check and see to make sure. Could be the diamond in the heap there. =)
Isaac has a big heart, stopping to pet the sad dog. I owned a 1976 Chevy Vega with a 5 speed manual transmission that also had that racing shift pattern. 1st gear was lower left, reverse was upper left. That shift pattern was a little different, but once I got used to it, I really liked it.
When I was in high school a friend of mine had a 69 or 70 Dodge Coronet with a four speed. with a W pattern shifter, where you pull the shifter back from first to second gear. and then over to where fourth gear would normally be. and then forward to where third gear would normally be. definitely a strange shift pattern.
The Duece and a half is a multi fueler and will run on anything: gas, diesel, fuel oil, peanut oil. Engage all six wheels in low range and just let the clutch out: real slow but you won't stop it.
These videos are great, I got to find me a CT-70 after seeing this. A word of advice from experience, when I first learned to drive Deuces when I first went in the Army my Sergeants let me know in no uncertain terms to never put my hand inside the steering wheel. I you hit a rut or rock the tire will turn suddenly and the steering wheel will spin and if your hand is inside it will wrap you arm around the steering column.
Arent duece and a halfs technically 10 speed, low and high you should be able to use every gear, so low 4th next would be high 1st. Ignoring the crawling gears. My dad drove a 2ton truck that had a 10 speed. First threw 5th in low, flip the high switch and repeat the shift pattern. Only had to do that when fully loaded though. Not loaded hed go 2nd 4th flip then 1st 3rd and 5th
Man, this made me think back to the bike adventure out to the island...purely an epic adventure. Good choice on saving the H for a rebuild. Amazing grab on the deuce. And i have one of those dummy pineapples...im wanting to make a complaints department, take a number tag and attach it to the pin...lol. Great content guys!
I'd be surprised if they didn't go 100 miles. I beat my rusty 68 honda 90 step through in the worst of ways and you just couldn't stop it. It was in bad shape when I got it. My buddy had a ct70 in equally bad shape and we'd ride them out in the mojave desert all day till we were exhausted. So much fun for so little coin in gas. If only I'd known. Wish I still had it. 😕
Yall crazy, glad I'm not in the running cause I would never get finished with anything at all. If I dont see it come apart, I wouldn't have a clue what to do. Still good video
You boy's are so Green about these older 2 and 4 stroke bike engines! Yes they've had mechanical ignition advance for quite a long time before they went to digital CDI boxes which had a advance curve built into them. Prior to this no, they were all pretty much set-it and forget-it ignition systems that never had any sort of advance mechanisms mechanical nor digital. 😅
3 am and this Old Man from Washington is really enjoying with my coffee ☕. John had appt with your Dad last week. We talked about this trip and rebuilds. He was grinning ear to ear❤️. Love you Guys 🛵🧔💝💝💝
How did you guys get away with driving the trail 70 and the little 50 on the hwy. I don't think we can even get a tag for something like this in Georgia.
Yeah man! De-milled grenades! I need a couple for my Garand accessory ammo belt! I saw one in the hardware store years ago with a number tag on the pin! There was a sign that said “complaint department, take a number”! Haw haw!
If you use CLR ( calcium lime rust ) it will dissolve the rust and not affect the paint. I use it all the time her in Australia. It's manufactured in the USA so it should be easily found there

Ty John 🤠
Dr. Detail Dad.
He seems really cool.
Why don’t yall ever use Treatland? Don’t they have literally everything for these mopeds?
Where's the link for trail buddy?
I got my wheel bearings off Amazon :p
Great to see that checker board floor again!
That nail was stronger than any of those frames. Should have tried to put some wheels and a Predator on it.
Yall, the first step in treating addiction, is admitting you have a problem.
But if it makes you happy why stop lol
Admitting it to others and YOURSELF STRONG ENOUGH you want to change.
He just Said admit...no one ever said stop
If this kind of addiction is bad, then I don't wanna be right haha
Yeah....but what an addiction.
I almost cried when you kicked that motor over without any oil in the cylinder!! At least a few squirts of marvel to free up the rings and save the poor ancient cylinder wall. Man. 😮
i keep some in a oil can for that
Tell John to put one of the "non H" model rear sprockets on his "H" model bike, and that will gear it up and take advantage of the extra power that the CT70H engine has. Do that and they go a LOT faster...😅
One of these went for $750 at an equipment auction here in VT last spring. The bidding started at 250. Wish I still had mine from childhood
all right.ct 70s and ct 90s are where its at.love it
yall getting a Honda collection. old Hondas are not a bad investment.

Totally agree. Donut machine.
SOS Quad Zero Brillow pads works wonders on paint and chrome
My dad did a tractor rim on the tailgate of his pickup chopping out a wedge of rim around the rusted out valve and stick welding a new wedge in place, drilling a new valve hole and rocking on!
omg, I had a ct70 as a kid growing up! this would have been late 80s early 90s
Mine was a 4 speed semi auto
Jeez back at your perents garage where it all started no more ripping up the lawn lol
I am totally in love with Ike's truck... I think I go a bit doe eyed whenever I see it !
Very cool nostalgia episode with your Dad and the old stomping ground.
He is a class act and giving you the "buddy price" on detail work brought a tear to my eyes! 😂
At least he got to tell his dad that he loved him. That was cool. I'm sure he's glad he did, I didn't get the chance. Class act Ike.👍
I’m a ‘68 model. 😂
But I only had a 50 model. We were too poor for the Trail 70. 😆
John’s dad said you should of seen the cheese biscuit I bite into this morning man
Love yall video

I can't remember the year but my sister had a CT-90. It would get up and boogie along hitting 36 to 39 MPH easily.
I have been stuck under a car pulling the engine when we disturbed wasps. Me and a friend got stung way too many times. I am afraid of wasps now, and don't care if someone makes fun of me for it. Lol.
Follow the leader. He’s on a Honda. 🎶
These videos are one of the main reasons why I love cars and cameras

Liked seeing you saying bye to the dog. Ours crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. The bestest Odie

Loved you’re dads Jethro Bodine (Beverly Hillbillies,) reference @44:57 ish
John can you bring your pops back to finish the biscuit story? lol

The wiring hole in the top of the frame carried over into the black tag bikes, for about 10,000 bikes past the silver tags.

Nice primer for me to get all amped up to rebuild the top end on my S90.
And Honda finally brought over the "new ct70" as the Dax 125

If you run gasoline put 2 stroke oil in it... Diesel Kerosene and jet fuel already have lubricant in them
Very cool to see Johns dad in the video
I got a Trail 70 for my 11th birthday and totally wore it out over the next few years.
I used to work on them m-series vehicles in the military
12:49 You just took away the pin for the swing arm 🤣🤣🤣
How could you not give the puppy some love ?
You should make an entirely new front end for the CT35 and weld that onto the old rear half
Favorite part of my Wednesday!

Haw haw!
Ike! Name one of them after your dad. Or if he had a nickname!
I always thought John's dad was a lawyer, don't know why though .
i thought he was a retired race car driver
Yeah didn't think he had that career.
Mustie1 will be right at home with these things.
I used to watch every one of his videos but completely forgot about his channel. Thank you for the reminder!
He’s a complete and total nut job. Do a little research on his mental breakdown a few years ago. I was a huge fan of him.
Yall got these out of nc didnt you?
Well few second later my question was answered. Pretty sure I know who y'all got these from

Better to buy business expenses than give it to the IRS
Glad to see you guys using Trail Buddy!
Good god. Like 5 of these locally for $2000. They all look like ass and a couple are in pieces. Nice one for $3300. And a mint for $7500.
I have been to Saigon Sam's.
I love the Honda CT70....always have. I have ridden a Ct70H...definitely the preferred ride.
I have wanted one of these trucks for a very long time and Ike is so lucky to have found one.
If you use CLR ( calcium lime rust ) it will dissolve the rust and not affect the paint. I use it all the time her in Australia. It's manufactured in the USA so it should be easily found there
I love the fact that yall are working on old rotten mini bikes....next to an audi r8 🤣🤣🤣
This was awesome. Loved the video. It seemed like a long way to ride. Glad you had a good time. Take care and I'll see you later.
This is where i got on your channel. The trip to isaccs island. Love the cts. I have 5 of my own.
