    I liked your explanation of domain and range. I've been taking Alg classes for about a year now, and no one has successfully explained how that works until now.
    Thank you.

    Man!
    I was 12 years behind from you!
    You knew it in 2008!
    I just have learnt it in 2020.
    Thank you!

    Can you do a video on how to find the domain and range of a piecewise function algebraically, without a graph?

    • @ganeshprasad9851
      @ganeshprasad9851 5 лет назад +1

      Graphically is the best way cause you don't make errors here... Algebraic is difficult and should be made into different cases and if you miss some interval you will lose some solutions and your final answer would be incorrect.

    Thank you so much for this video, I never understood how to find the domain and range of piecewise functions until I saw this video!!

    I am in 7th grade honors right now, this helps a lot with understanding the big picture and where it leads, I have watchedd several other videos on these topics of piecewise equations and they are making a lot of sensd. Math is a language with little or no exeptions, however, most languages like english have many. In order to speak math fulently, like any other language, you have to know how to write it, how to read it, and how to speak it. Math makes sense, i'ts just writing things with numbers

    Thank you, I don't know if you are reading this, but if you are I would just like you to know that the first 1 minute of this video k, I understood more from you than my math teacher for one day, and I'm in honors algebra and I've always succeeded, but my teacher seems to have a different style of teaching than what im used too.

      Well your lucky, I have this extremely strict teacher highest grade fir the semester was an 85% she gives us 1 hoe of homework everyday expect on test/quizzes days. Yes I understand but she teaches us and has soo high expectations, first time i haven't recived an A or lower, im fine with a B in math (only for this year) but I need to work harder, im at a 70% right now for Q1.

    well, you need to know the domain first!
    then i would either graph it, or use derivatives to find where the function is increasing/decreasing to help give me a better idea of the range

    if the interval in broken up, the correct notation is to use the union sign, U.
    very, very often though, people will just use a comma to separate the intervals; i often switch back and forth with no rhyme or reason. i really should be using the union notation though

  • @patrickjmt
    @patrickjmt  16 лет назад

    so: no. it is not special notation that one only uses for range...
    sorry for the confusion. it is little things like this that never even dawn on me as causing confusion, so thanks for pointing it out! i will try to be more consistent

    Unlike in class, you can pause this and think about it for a while with out taking up other's class time. :) Videos are great in that way...the only bad thing is if you dont understand anything you cant ask the video what to do. :/
