I liked your explanation of domain and range. I've been taking Alg classes for about a year now, and no one has successfully explained how that works until now. Thank you.
Graphically is the best way cause you don't make errors here... Algebraic is difficult and should be made into different cases and if you miss some interval you will lose some solutions and your final answer would be incorrect.
thank you so much for this service! I've been running around for 2 days looking for clear instructions on solving piecewise functions. Who knew you were at my fingertips. :) You ROCK Patrick!
I am in 7th grade honors right now, this helps a lot with understanding the big picture and where it leads, I have watchedd several other videos on these topics of piecewise equations and they are making a lot of sensd. Math is a language with little or no exeptions, however, most languages like english have many. In order to speak math fulently, like any other language, you have to know how to write it, how to read it, and how to speak it. Math makes sense, i'ts just writing things with numbers
Thank you, I don't know if you are reading this, but if you are I would just like you to know that the first 1 minute of this video k, I understood more from you than my math teacher for one day, and I'm in honors algebra and I've always succeeded, but my teacher seems to have a different style of teaching than what im used too.
Well your lucky, I have this extremely strict teacher highest grade fir the semester was an 85% she gives us 1 hoe of homework everyday expect on test/quizzes days. Yes I understand but she teaches us and has soo high expectations, first time i haven't recived an A or lower, im fine with a B in math (only for this year) but I need to work harder, im at a 70% right now for Q1.
well, you need to know the domain first! then i would either graph it, or use derivatives to find where the function is increasing/decreasing to help give me a better idea of the range
if the interval in broken up, the correct notation is to use the union sign, U. very, very often though, people will just use a comma to separate the intervals; i often switch back and forth with no rhyme or reason. i really should be using the union notation though
so: no. it is not special notation that one only uses for range... sorry for the confusion. it is little things like this that never even dawn on me as causing confusion, so thanks for pointing it out! i will try to be more consistent
yes... im going crazy.. my teacher gave us a project all about that piecewise function but my teacher didnt teach it to us,thank god ... i found this video...good job!!!
why can't all students read their book, do their homework, not miss a class and pay attention when they get there? it is all one of life's great mysteries.
Unlike in class, you can pause this and think about it for a while with out taking up other's class time. :) Videos are great in that way...the only bad thing is if you dont understand anything you cant ask the video what to do. :/
i really really really appreciate this, but i am sure there is a better way to finding the range then by just looking at a plain drawing. specially dealing with precise numbers. TO THE BATMOBILE! i shall continue my quest on RUclips to learn appropriately!
Patric how would you find the range of a equation with out knowing its domain for example: 7+x-x^2 or x^2-2 or 2x-x^2 thank you very much for your time you are master

12 years later, you saved the day. thank you
RIGHT?!?
100th like!
200th like :~)

Thank you.
Man!
I was 12 years behind from you!
You knew it in 2008!
I just have learnt it in 2020.
Thank you!
15 years later and you still saved the day :)
thanks
14 years later and you still saved the day
Can you do a video on how to find the domain and range of a piecewise function algebraically, without a graph?
Graphically is the best way cause you don't make errors here... Algebraic is difficult and should be made into different cases and if you miss some interval you will lose some solutions and your final answer would be incorrect.
Thank you so much for this video, I never understood how to find the domain and range of piecewise functions until I saw this video!!

You ROCK Patrick!
how time flies :(

Thank GOD. my math 112 is all online and they only seem to instruct me on the bits of it that i already understand. thanks a billion!
just noticed 2008 !!!!!
it helped, thankuuuu! hope ure doin' well....
Explained it to me within 1 minute of the video, thanks.
glad i was able to help!! : )
Dude your videos are AWESOME!!!!! You're helping me pass Algebra II, because the teacher can't teach unfortunately. THANKS DUDE!!!!!
You are amazing! I hope you wake up everyday knowing how helpful you are to all of us! Thanks for the help =)
well, you need to know the domain first!
then i would either graph it, or use derivatives to find where the function is increasing/decreasing to help give me a better idea of the range
Your videos about Piece Wise have helped me a lot! Thanks
actually you can ask lots of questions. if i do not answer ( which is often the case) someone else will.
man, you dont know how much your videos are helping me, thanks a lot. Be my professor
Why can't all math teachers be this simple and direct?
watching this in 2021! thank you very much for the video it helped a lot!!!
thank you! I've struggled with this a lot! it's much easier they way you explain it.
seriously the best math youtube channel ever. thanks so much!

very, very often though, people will just use a comma to separate the intervals; i often switch back and forth with no rhyme or reason. i really should be using the union notation though
@patrickJMT Youve seriously saved me... i have a test tomorrow lol
so: no. it is not special notation that one only uses for range...
sorry for the confusion. it is little things like this that never even dawn on me as causing confusion, so thanks for pointing it out! i will try to be more consistent
this is the bomb its the best math tutoring site ever
OMFG thank you!! I kept getting the range wrong, but you made it so simple!!! thank youoooooooooooooooo
yes... im going crazy.. my teacher gave us a project all about that piecewise function but my teacher didnt teach it to us,thank god ... i found this video...good job!!!
thank you bro you made this a lot easier for me man thanks.
thats cause it is not available to download
thanks for the lesson you made it so easy to understand!
Thanks patrickJMT ! :) now i can answer my assignment. Thx a lot ^_^
yes, domain and range seem to drive people crazy!
thank you man i actually get it thanks keep helping others I
appreciate it
probably best to make sure you know the definition of each term first
really helped me a lot sir .. I hope you are my Prof in calculus :))
hopefully it will be one day
aw yea!
Dude I just had an epiphany watching this video!!!! Thank You SO MUCH!
why can't all students read their book, do their homework, not miss a class and pay attention when they get there?
it is all one of life's great mysteries.
Thanks dude, you are a boss.
Unlike in class, you can pause this and think about it for a while with out taking up other's class time. :) Videos are great in that way...the only bad thing is if you dont understand anything you cant ask the video what to do. :/
excellent. glad it all helps
i really really really appreciate this, but i am sure there is a better way to finding the range then by just looking at a plain drawing. specially dealing with precise numbers.
TO THE BATMOBILE! i shall continue my quest on RUclips to learn appropriately!
yes, but that is not exactly what he said, is it?
happy i could help :)
i have another vid about finding the equation from a graph of a piecewise function too if that helps!!
good luck with ur project
Thank you sooo much. This is soo helpful!!
You're left handed! Thank you, this was helpful. x]
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!
So if you do include the number you put a bracket but if you don't it's a parenthesis? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Very helpful and informative. Thank you!
downnnn!! you have everything i need you are ginormous !!
Hey Patrick! I had a question- for piecewise function when there are gaps in the intervals (ex. 0 < x < 7825, and the next interval is 7826
Thankyou sooo much, this might be the difference between failing and passing.... :)
Thank you so much, number line, kudos
you juss dont know how amazing you are WOW! :)
THANKS!!!!!!!!!
@nikinixx84 happy to help :) come back any time!
that was really helpful. thanks a lot! :)
What if you're not allowed to use interval notation?
Great! Thank you for the excellent vids -- lifesaver!
Patric how would you find the range of a equation with out knowing its domain for example: 7+x-x^2
or x^2-2 or 2x-x^2
thank you very much for your time you are master
very helpful, appreciate your effort
: ]
A billion thanks, really
Very helpful.
u r our hero!!!
@ericksonmpe it looks like it is free thanks to RUclips! : )
@dragonmasta91 glad i was able to help
@xoswirleyox ive been here for a while now : ) spread the word!
Good look bru keep it up
thanks, i hope i got my domain and range right =]
What if there's only a x
@MsDamz01 thank ya very much : )
Really helpful...thank you
How can you find increase, decrease, axis of symmetry, end behavior, y-intercept, zeros, and the constant of a piecewise function.
what's the tuition for enrollment of PatrickJMT University?
thank you so much
thank you so much! You make things easier to understand..haha!:) God bless you MORE!
Ur amazing thanks soo much
girl what I still don’t understand this lmao
thank you for this
hi...i'm not so sure if 2 is included in the range 4:38...please explain a lil bit more...
Im a bit confused, how did you get that graph in the first place?
i forgot how to find domain of these functions lol now that im in college i need to know for my homework =]
yay
Thank you
Thanks!
i finally understand this! :)
Thank you sooooooo much !!!!!!
thanks bro!
thanks dude
So helpful thanks! :)
in my school we dont include the [ or ( but it makes so much more sense that way? hmmmm damn school! lol thank you ! its making a lot more sense now
You're great
how you will find the range without the graph ???
i wish you were my teacher!
Why cant you combine with KA to have the best teachings and the best software to practice Mathematics on the internet in one place?
+David Miszczyk they don't want my content; they figure Sal already has it covered.
