A couple of people have asked if I can share the files I used to create the Mega Gargant. I never really intended the files to be a public release, so there's no notes / instructions, but if you're mad enough to want to give it a go, you're probably mad enough to follow the logic I used to create them! So, here's a zip of all the design and cut files I prepared in illustrator for import into the laser software I use (lightburn). www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1d64vgrkhr9r94g3x9kcr/Offbeat_Builds_Mega_Gargant.zip?rlkey=135y0k5129rf7wodve5ft9jjd&dl=0
Probably(cause I don't have a laser cutter yet... maybe if I get one I 'll have to put it to the test) won't use the files but hey, it's inspiring to see, I definitely need some sort of frame work for my gargant
@Offbeatbuilds How have I not known about "laser board" as a material before for lasercutting? This is game-changing for me. THANK YOU! I have several projects that will immediately benefit from this information!
Bro I can't believe you start off your hobby YT channel with THIS monster. That's like spending your first day as a mason building the entirety of the Colosseum.
It's been sat on the shelf for about 20 years, but you've finally inspired me to try and finish off my ork great gargant scratch build. Or at least give him arms. Great work on your model and thanks for the motivation!
1. The quality of this is absurd. Subbed and can't wait to see what you do in the future. 2.I think you almost did too good of a job putting it together. It looks so much more deliberate and actually functional compared to most modern ork stuff. I also wish you had done a bit more on the painting side. I recognize it is a massive model but I feel like it could use a bit more color. Super great work man I am stoked to have found your channel and I can't wait to see what you post in the future.
Thanks Jacob. I know what you mean about it looking "too functional". Most of my ork builds probably fall into that category; I take a lot of inspiration from the 2nd/3rd edition Ork vehicles, which tend to crudely mimic 20th Century military gear, rather than the more recent ramshakle katamari thing they have going on!
This is an absolutely monstrous build for a first video, what an amazing accomplishment! The quality of this video is great as is the writing, eager to see what you come up with next!
Ace! I’m working on a Great Gargant, and I too want a suppa’ Doupa’ Gatling gun for the Arm mount. Your housing helped a lot sir. I’m building mine out of a toy frame, and applying loads of foamboard, and plastic card (to keep the weight down, and stable. Ace job sir. I lost my Grot crew through my move to Havasu Az. So I’m looting my other ammo Grots.
"Like a chilling metaphor for modern life..." 😄😄😄 What a wonderfully bonkers build. 😍 It is amazing what you can achieve with a laser cutter, skill, imagination, determination and humour.
okay, so I stumbled on the ATV-Video first, but this instantly piqued my curiosity. I love what you've delivered here. The model is a giant box of guns, which is as orky as it gets and the video itself was very well made and entertaining. I really enjoy your humor, i was chuckling and laughing more or less the entire 25 minutes. Sometimes because of your jokes, sometimes because of the sheer ridiculousness of the model itself. Long story short: I loved it, I subscribed, I hope you take off to the moon with that subscriber-count and I want to see much more from you!
I have plans on building a mega gargarnt one day. That day probably won't arrive until like next decade and I'll be kitbashing a lot of it to save myself some time and headache, but one day it shall come together.
RC crowd might have some dang good looking tracks. A bit useless expense in them though since they are meant to be motorized. Though, having them motorized would be awesome, but a whole different project in on itself.
Man, I just watched both of your videos and they are sooo well made. Immediately subscribed! Having recently gotten into 3D printing, the "diy" bug has bitten me and I also became interested in laser cutting. May I ask what kind of laser cutter you use? Take care and greetings from Germany!

I'll definitely be tackling some more Orky projects, they're the army I'm always pulled towards over my 20ish years in the hobby. Probably because of all of the modelling opportunities.

"Laserboard" sounds like something teenage punks ride in an 80's-era cyberpunk story.
This is just insane. The build itself, your editing style, and just general personality are all top notch - you deserve 10x the subscribers.
Nice job ya zogger. Love how you built it with an MDF frame. Genius. I did my gargants with a polystyrene core covered in card. Love it. 👍
The random cutaways to you sitting in a chair are hilarious idk why, they seem so professional haha
