I've kitbashed a lot, but I've never been brave enough to try to build an truck from scratch. This is incredible! I'm definitely going try out your templates!
1-2-3 blocks and magnets to hold plasticard. How has that never crossed my mind?! Absolutely brilliant! As is the video in its entirety. Love your work, both models and videos!
As a younger orks specifically scratch builder - a helpful tip if you aren't precise/good at it, get some hot glue and foam, cut the foma into shape of the thing and glue it on the inside, it's how I did a lot of my smaller vehicles, as it's easy to have strong shape that way.
I had scratchbuilt some Grot Tanks before out of XPS foam and cardboard/cardstock, my most recent one was made almost entirely out of cardboard along with some other junk scraps
I don’t know what I love most about this video: your humor, the amazing and helpful tutorial or just the insane production value! Amazing content man 😍😍😍
I gotta add to all the positive comments but my positive shout out it's gonna be the fact that this is built out of material and not printed I just like that. Thanks bro you rock.
Thanks mate - I bought a 3D printer a couple of years ago, but it kinda takes the fun out of it for me. No shade against those that like the workflow, but it's not for me.
3D printer/designer here. Love the scratchbuild video, definitely going to use some of these techniques if you’d like to get anything custom made (wheels/engine blocks/ gubbins) for a future project I’d be way into a collaboration.
Hey dude, thanks a lot. I spent a few months trying to get my head around Z-brush a couple of years ago and decided it wasn't for me, so I'll keep that in mind my dude. Feel free to drop me an email (in bio) as this comment will get lost in the noise!
How dare you say my trusted Utility knife isn't up to the job!! Poor old Andy. He will be upset. Love the video my man. I need to have a go at these myself!
Thanks dude. My builds used to be much messier, but I eventually learned to slow down and take my time cleaning and filling parts. It doesn't add a massive amount of workload to a build, but it makes the world of difference.
Be honest.... You have some sort of background in video editing/production etc...... I mean this as a compliment, there's no way a channel as new as yours should have videos this high quality ahha. Great stuff!
Thank you so much for this. I have been wanting to build trucks for a Fallout Wasteland Warfare game and terrain pieces, and this will fit the build perfectly. They're the classic "Army Truck" look without spending the stupidly high cost of actual model kits.
Your videos continiue to be amazing every time! This is such a cool truck design with so much space for making it unique, before the video was even finished i had printed out the plans and have started building one, many thanks for the template download!
Yeah that Ork one looks legit! I mean, they all do. But there is just something about Ork vehicles that just feels right. I did an enclosed truck cab on my plastic trukk because they all look the same otherwise
I've been using a 5.55mm ammo can in lieu of the 123 block as I copy your land raider conversion (also I'm using nail spikes instead of nail studs for rivets because chaos).
I love that these are basically just grimdark GMC gun trucks, the Ork ones aren't even that far from some of the real-life modifications made to some of the trucks
Definitely gonna try this out for my budget IG army as a Chimera proxy, thinking of mounting the turret over the passenger seat, and Vietnam gun truck style lasguns with gunshields in the bed for the lasgun array. Might see about kitbashing a model truck hood and cab on to make an older style that meets my Praetorian style more.
Fantastic video! I really love the production value, the humour, the models, the skills behind the build, the paint, the way you clearly label everything including paints/sizes/etc. Great video! Please keep making them :)
Excellent video! I've been planning on making a looted trukk for my orks using a cheap tamiya model, but this is a great system too! (the battlewagon for my army is a former Paw Patrol truck lol)
That's impressive, more so because you've created a process that other people can actually follow that for the creation of a piece of art that no one will be able to mimic who isn't already skilled enough to make on with out help in the first place. What I would like to know is about how expensive would you say one of these trucks is in terms of the styrene and resin bits etc?
Thank you kindly! As for cost, it's hard to quantify exactly, but I'd say averaged over the 5 trucks it's worked out at around £10 per Truck. The wheels are the biggest expense, with the Zinge wheels costing £7.50 for 6. The styrene is dirt cheap, even factoring in buying the tubes and other profiles. That's the nice thing about scratchbuilding stuff like this, once you have a small stock of materials, the cost of the each build is tiny.
Well what's to be said but your hobby builds are amazing sir. Would love a where to pick up these materials because getting my head round how much you seem to have to hand is mind blowing. Because building a load of these for my Ork and Guard forces will need to be done. 😊
Right, I know my mrs has bought me orks for christmas! I know she hasn't bought me trukks. Went out to the local scale model shop yesterday and bought 10 sheets of 40 styrene sheets and 3 sheets of 60 sheets, plus a load of rod, I beams, C beams, rods. a boat load of toy trukks with perfect wheels from the bargain store (they were £1 each and came with 4 30mm offroad style wheels per toy, bargain). I've got my christmas project! Oh....also bought magnets, 123 blocks, rivets and an engineers square....think I'm set!
Awesome video. I love the truck, has strong Dave Taylor truck vibes, which I can definitely appreciate. Definitely a couple of techniques I'll be snaffling, I've always used brush on superglue for my plasticard work but capillary action thin cement looks like it'd be a lot easier. Subbed!
Nice tutorial, the templates could be printed on self-adesive paper, and then glued on the plasticard. It helps a lot! P.s where did you find the wheels? Normally are the hardest part to find.
Thanks Alessio! The wheels are from Zinge Industries. I don't ahve access to the link right now, but they have a few different styles of 27mm wheels that do the trick.
I like the music, is it copyright free? Also, your handiwork is amazing, and your voice is very nice to listen to. Please narrate the all guardsmen party immediately.
Thanks. I make all of the music in the videos. I've not looked into how I can make it available in a copyright-free way, but I'd like to be able to do that - just need to look into how to do that in a way that's not going to trip up people that want to use it for RUclips / IG / TikTok etc.
Nice trucks, though. I dunno that Ork'd use trucks, my brain is yellin at me that if an Ork wants to shift a few tons of something or other that ork does this by yelling at gretchin until it's all moved. That's just me, though, my brain goes to gretchin and snotlings for almost all ork tech. Tripod? Oi, 'old dis. Toilet paper? Oi, snotlin'... Microwave? Oi, get dis 'ot or I'll bite yer nose off. Printer? Oi, you, write dis dahn... Pouffe? Oi, bend over and 'old me feet up. Telescope? Oi, get dat, bring dat 'ere.
It's honestly weird the Imperial Guard don't have a Dedicated Transport that's just...a truck. Yes, they have the Chimera. But that's basically a tank that's being used as a ferry. Good for driving men into the thick of the action, but not as cost-effective. Whereas a truck could be commandeered from any civilians and used to move troops/supplies around. Uses less metal, too. It makes no sense that both Orks and Genestealer Cults have access to trucks - heck, even desert convoys on Necromunda - yet the Imperial Guard don't.
To be completely honest, scratchbuilding vehicles - or buildings or other scenery pieces, similar methods apply - for 40K isn't necessarily problematic, perhaps with the exception of Eldar due to all the curves. What is problematic is designing these things to fit the overall aesthetic of armies they're supposed to be part of, and doubly so if the idea is to make them look realistic rather than ridiculous. Then again, GW fails at that most of the time.
The production value on this is actually insane
Thanks man, much appreciated. A lot of work goes into the edit / animations etc, so always nice to hear it's being appreciated :)
Use a dry wet wipe for fabric is straight genius!
I've kitbashed a lot, but I've never been brave enough to try to build an truck from scratch. This is incredible! I'm definitely going try out your templates!

Big ups for cardboard!
I don’t know what I love most about this video: your humor, the amazing and helpful tutorial or just the insane production value! Amazing content man 😍😍😍
Thanks for the kind words, they're very much appreciated!
This is a true Godsend, best scratch build guide I've ever seen maybe.
Thanks dude, it's very much appreciated. Glad you found it helpful.
This well be one of the best mini-hobby videos I’ve ever watched. Amazing work!
Thanks for the kind words, that's made my day!
I gotta add to all the positive comments but my positive shout out it's gonna be the fact that this is built out of material and not printed I just like that. Thanks bro you rock.

"Commissar Yarrick's sense of object permanence..." 😄😄😄
Those trucks looks absolutely ace.
Thanks. I'm still holding out hope he's coming back!

He will be upset.
Love the video my man. I need to have a go at these myself!
Haha, to be fair, Andy would absolutely mess me up. ;)
Man that's such an awesome build, making me want to try something similar now for my Genestealer Cult!
Thanks Gabriel. I nearly bought the GSC Combat Patrol recently, but realised that would mean I'd have to make even more trucks 😂
They look awesome. love how you can make scratch built look so clean, definitely stealing this for my next truck. keep the builds coming.
Thanks dude. My builds used to be much messier, but I eventually learned to slow down and take my time cleaning and filling parts. It doesn't add a massive amount of workload to a build, but it makes the world of difference.

Haha, thanks! Yeah I ran another RUclips channel before this, so I've got a few years experience in the bag.
I bought 1-2-3 blocks after seeing this video. Great tips.
Cracking video! Might give these a go in that “between Christmas and New Year” void where the days bleed into each other!
I call those weekdays. If you do take on the build, please share some pics when you're done dude!
Thank you so much for this. I have been wanting to build trucks for a Fallout Wasteland Warfare game and terrain pieces, and this will fit the build perfectly. They're the classic "Army Truck" look without spending the stupidly high cost of actual model kits.
A amazing job and amazing work and a great job.
Gracias amigo, much appreciated! Have a great weekend.
This is EXACTLY the video I have been dying to watch. Fantastic!
Thanks dude. Glad you found it helpful. Have a great weekend!

Thanks dude. Let me know how you get on, the world needs more trucks!
After having bought 2 Ork battleforces... I will scratch build magnificent truks ! Thanks !
Haha, love it. In my younger days did a Chaos rhino with spikes made from brass panel pins... not recommended! 😂
It's cool on how you make things from scratch
Thanks dude!
Providing the templates for free via DropBox is a Chad move. Thanks heaps mate - awesome video and builds!
I love that these are basically just grimdark GMC gun trucks, the Ork ones aren't even that far from some of the real-life modifications made to some of the trucks
Excellent build! I do scratch building too and it is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our hobby. Thank for sharing this.
Thank you kindly. Scratchbuilding is where I find my hobby-zen!
Definitely gonna try this out for my budget IG army as a Chimera proxy, thinking of mounting the turret over the passenger seat, and Vietnam gun truck style lasguns with gunshields in the bed for the lasgun array. All of those trucks look amazing! Absolutely brilliant 😃
Thank you kindly!
absolutely beautiful builds. this is getting bookmarked for my next trukk build, and maybe scaled up for a battlewaggon or 2
Fantastic video! I really love the production value, the humour, the models, the skills behind the build, the paint, the way you clearly label everything including paints/sizes/etc.
Great video! Please keep making them :)
Thanks, very much appreciated!
Thats awesome. If i find the time I'll give it a try myself, Thank you for the templates!
Gracias! Let me know how you get on dude.
You could grab some tracks from Zinge, too, make a nice half-track.
So clean and well explain! Love every minutes of this video!
Thank you kind Sir!
Excellent video! I've been planning on making a looted trukk for my orks using a cheap tamiya model, but this is a great system too!
(the battlewagon for my army is a former Paw Patrol truck lol)
Haha. I don't think kiddo would forgive me if I took his Paw Patrol toys... I'll have to give it a year or two ;)
@@OffbeatBuilds That's what goodwill is for! :D
If I played either would totally make one. I'm Votann though and don't see nearly as many builds for terrain or custom vehicles for them
That's impressive, more so because you've created a process that other people can actually follow that for the creation of a piece of art that no one will be able to mimic who isn't already skilled enough to make on with out help in the first place. @@OffbeatBuilds I have a friend who does a lot of 3d printing, if I wanted to do this wheels and greebles would be really cheap.
Great work on these. Solid craftsmanship.
Thank you, much appreciated. :)
Really cool work, some awesome scratch builds featured here.
Seeing you scratchbuild things like this is bonkers. You deserve way for subs dude!
Beautiful scratch builds and a really accessible video. Talking if lore, in Gaunts Ghosts I think all the trucks are a "Cargo- number if wheels" lol
More templates please
Absolutely beautiful scratch builds!
Wow, and thank you for the template!
Thank you, no problem!
This is fantastic! I'd love to see a video on your design process in making the templates!
these are AMAZING
Thank you kind Sir!

Lo and behold, in the great Trukk shortage of 10th Edition 2023, this legend blesses us with plans straight from da Brainboyz!

Thank you very much for the efforts made to make this video. They will be put to good use.
