De la sobriété, de la sensibilité, de la profondeur... ce qui est étonnant de la part d'un si jeune pianiste (qui, à ma connaissance, n'avait que 16 ans quand il a interprété ce concerto de piano de Beethoven).

The appropriate tempi set by this artistic conductor is particularly comfortable. All in all, really excellent performance of this masterwork which represents the young and bright aspect of the greatest composer.

I believe this is the way the players were usually disposed in piano concertos before the side-on arrangement that we are familiar with today was adopted. It allows the conductor and soloist to communicate visually without the conductor having to look round. That works perfectly well for classical concertos with a modern grand piano and a smallish orchestra, but in larger-scale works (Rachmaninov &c) the piano needs to be side-on so that the lid reflects the piano sound into the auditorium.

Haha, the AVRO is *so* cool in uploading this. The weird thing is, I really hate the normal (classical) radio programming on the Dutch NPR, but as long as they provide the content online, I don't bother anymore. In my car, a tunecast device (and unlimited 3g) and a stereo set at home beat the radio experience... Can't wait for 4G :-) Trust that the AVRO has enough ideas to change the game of classical media what that standard has been layed down. Greetings! Rolfke :-)
