“There is only so much loss that someone can have until you realize that there’s more to life than just pleasure.” - Tas Pappas Watch it now on iTunes: bit.ly/1pms61l
how can you dislike this. I don't even skateboard, I know people who do, always thought it was a sick sport. But this guys story transcends throughout sports and into every persons life.
Me and my wife just watched the documentary not known g anything about skating and it was seriously one of the most hard hitting stories we have ever seen so much sadness and so much highs
the film is amazing - a very human story. i lost my best friend to suicide in '97 and she wasn't famous or an addict...life is just hard sometimes. it feels like it happened yesterday, time don't heal SHIT. i LOVED the film; delicate topic that can be difficult to tell in a sensitive way. thanks for all the hard work and my condolences to tas and his family and the skate world...tony hawk is an embarrassment to americans. we need to learn to lose with some grace.
If they cut out the garbage about Tony Hawk "Stealing" the 900 then i would have enjoyed the movie a lot more. If you land it the trick is yours. Tas took another 15 years to land a 900 and had to do it on a mini ramp. If he did it even close to when tony did it would give him a little more credibility but he didnt. And the documentary doesnt check facts very well either. He wasnt kept out of the best trick competition he just didnt qualify because he keot going for 900's in the qualifiers and not making them so he didnt qualify. there was no conspiracy to keep him out. And Tonys 2nd wife worked for espn not the wife he had during 99 xgames. Other than that stuff, the stuff about his brother and the drug abuse is very compelling and im glad he has turned his life around
One perspective that could be viewed is that Tony Hawk had already been signed to be the Cover of THPS games but could not land the tricks that were designed to be done in the game quite yet, so he had no other choice but to be allowed to skate the mega ramp to do the 900 in order to promote the game and skateboarding overall in the U.S. and around the world. Had Tas Pappas or Ben Pappas landed first on film the 900, for the viewing of the whole world, perhaps then they would have made the game to be Tas Pappas Pro skater instead of Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Tas and Ben are viewed as the party lifestyle of skateboarding at the time while still being from a complete isolated continent at the time, so in order to have access to the megaramp one would have to earn his way into skating the MEGA RAMP. Homies fuel each other on another mans hype all the time at the sesh but these folks being from distant lands and backgrounds and Tas showing more of the cultural side at the time, would not have went good with those who have been marketing the industry for quite some time. Fast Forward 2024 and everyone is surely Tas and Ben in this culture of Skateboarding than to ever be Tony Hawk. To say the trick was stolen is not possible when a man lands it himself. Just as the Roman Empire molded itself based on Ancient Greece techniques, fashions, and ideas, which led to evolving the world just as event like this have evolved skateboarding. Without the Soviet Union the United States would not have progressed technology and itself that well by being aware of neighboring competitors soon to be conquerors.
Its helped me keep sober. Fuck man it has so hard. Seeing this when I did and skating now. Shooting heroin is no joke people. At this point in my life I'm so proud and surprised to say or think I despise drugs and I do now. Theres so much more to life than living a day at a time almost near death wanting to die. But sober the options are endless. Yeah. You made a difference. This film will help people. God bless
***** No, I don't skate, but I played video games rode bicycles, climbed mountains, etc and i Say the Same Thing about them, and almost everything that humans do. Just because you do them or a small part of the world does them, or heck, even a big part of the world does it, it STILL DOESN'T make it sensible to *Kill your partner and commit suicide*. Like you are to SkateBoarding, almost all humans are to some other activity. So are you telling me that EVERY ACTION we do, Is meaningful, Then why aren't you doing the things many of the other 7 billion right people are doing, do you not "find meaning" in them? You see, the word skateboard, didn't exist outside a lot of america for quite some time. You might understand in time. Another person bashing usernames, lol.
In which line did I tell you that every action we do has a meaning ? I think you should read again instead of starting a strange discussion about the meaning of life, cause thats no theme I want to talk about in youtube comments. I just hate people that judge about lifestyles and descissions that they will never be able to understand. If you dont skate you cant understand ANYTHING thats going on there. Have a nice twerk
***** Exactly, you don't. Because that's not how the brain works. The same applies to some idiot teen skateboarding himself into cocaine and ultimately fucking his own life and that of the people around him. Same goes for deliberately hitting your face on the wall, just because you wanted to imagine what it must be like, like if animals are so dumb that they can't even use this thing... called.. *"Imagination"*.
Nayazu Zyanya To make money off of the clicks. Also, these lead to an itunes links for the documentary where the documentary costs like 20$ and they probably get a ref fee.

Vice is slowly but sure becoming money-whores. Something that journalism should never become or it stops being journalism.
FrobblOo Click money machine. Why do you think they make 5 videos with a 3 minutes documentary.
Nayazu Zyanya
To make money off of the clicks.

Ah yes... Skating before the ladies jeans wearing, hipster "hot topic" kids and got a hold of it and turned it into a massive corporate shit-show.
It's been like that since 80s.
Jesse Ocegueda

Blah blah blah , skateboarding will always be skateboarding to skateboarders , the act itself is what is real .
