    I am only an interemdiate player, 57 years old, where i live in kenya not many rackets are available. I had purchased my radical MP 2021 in france and played with it for a couple of months and loved it. when the local shop got the radical pro 2023 i couldn't resist and i bought it. i was afraid the racket was not for me because i am not an advanced player, WRONG! the racket is definitely not only for advnced players. I love this racket especially my one handed back hand, my service, my sliced shots have earned so much from this racket. THe only sad point is that... i left behind the MP now...

    Hello, Lucas. I'm a Head Prestige Pro & Pro staff 6.1 95 (pro labs) lover, racket collector and 3.5 - 4.0 level player. Because of my age and lots of injuries, I've been trying to switch and test more friendly rackets, with similar styles of the ones I've been using for a long time. I bought the radical pro last year and I struggled a bit with it. Although it provided me more maneuverability spin and speed, it had less plough through and less stability. Recently I customised the racket and added 4g of lead tape (at 3 and 9). Swing weight changed to 334 (measured by Briffidi SW1) and 345g static weight (strung, dumpener and overgrip). Maneuverability is still good, and I got lots of stability and plough through. Very crispy, fast and reliable stick. Recommend strung with Head Lynx tour (champagne colour) @48lbs.

    I’ve started with Radical Microgell MP then to d3o pro, Graphene Pro, now Graphene XT pro with CAP grommet for the almost 10 years but needed more consistent power, as I’m getting older. I tried the 2023 version & felt familiar (control & volley), but still lacks the power when I tried to flatten the ball. I use Völkl Cyclone 16L 48/45 lbs.

    Don't be put off by the 'Jack of all trades' thing! I know of another racquet that is great at everything but (luckily) doesn't excel in one specific area, the Tecnifibre T-Rebound 298 Iga. I love it! Especially for being great across the board. Trust me, you don't want a racquet to excel at one thing. Bc then it sucks at something else.

      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад +1

      Interesting, I actually didn't find it to feel light at all (actually thought the opposite) but maybe it's more so the swing weight for me. I do agree, though, that the power is absolutely not 200. Just used the Prestige for the first time in a while and it's undeniably more controlled.

    how would you say the Pro compares to the MP? maneuverability, control, power, spin, stability?
    important context: i’m coming from an ezone 98 and would like more control, feel, and stability. radical seems to provide that while having a similar launch angle and not taking too much away from power and spin. i’m between the MP and Pro, and will probably choose which one feels more maneuverable and whippy.
    extra context: loved the extreme tour, just too unstable, and didn’t like it with lead tape. aero 98 was a bit clunky and too powerful and too much launch angle for me. also, i’m a college player so i’m no stranger to 315g racquets.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  9 месяцев назад +1

      The Radical and the Ezone are two very comparable rackets in terms of well-rounded playability but I think you would prefer the MP. More similar to the 305 Ezone 98 and you'll sacrifice power and spin on the Pro.

    I've always loved the Radicals but I have never been able to Volley with a Radical. I can hit Stinging Volleys with any racket that I pick up but I'm guaranteed to Brick every Volley with a Radical. A friend got his hands on some Blacked out Head frames so we could experiment without bias (I can pretty much tell which frame I'm holding even if it's blacked out so I had to make sure that I didn't look too close at the frames. Sure enough, every Radical Volley was a Brick. Since I play a lot of Doubles, the Volley is most important. Therefore I'm stuck with my old Volkl Super G...but I'll keep trying.

    I try to find out the modern equivalent of Radical LM MP. The current MP has specs very close to LM.
    Weight: 11.2 oz (both)
    Balance: 33 cm (both)
    SW: 323 (New) 325 (LM)
    Flex: 65 (New) 64 (LM)
    Construction: 20/23/21 (New) 21 straight (LM)
    with some differences:
    headsize: 98 (New) 95 (LM)
    Pattern: 16x19 (New) 18x20 (LM)
    I play with Blade v.8 18x20 but it is not the same with LM: stable but cumbersome on the forehand. So, the 23 Radical MP could it be the modern interpretation of LM MP?

      @@RacketsRunnersVancouver I see. Would you recommend this for some one that plays with the prostaff. I love everything about the pro staff except the serve. I can place it well but it does not give the same pop as an ezone 98.
      Only problem with ezone is that the ground strokes are too powerful and I can't get the same placement as my pro staff, it's also very unstable and twists when If it doesn't fully connect properly, this does not happen with the pro staff. Was wondering if there was a racquet in-between those 2.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад +1

      Thank you! You're definitely on the right track either would be great. If you did want to try an 18x20, the Speed Pro is one of the most spin friendly ones, and it would also tick those boxes.

      @@RacketsRunnersVancouver Cool! Thanks for the suggestion. I tried my friend's Speed Pro and I didn't really like the lower launch angle, but it was definitely awesome for volleys. Great call!
      Right now I'm also considering the vcore 98 but it might be too light and unstable for doubles play.
      HOWEVER, I did find someone near me selling a pair of ezone DR 98s and the rackets are in great condition. So now my decision just got harder

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад +1

      That's definitely fair. I think you're on the right track with those two, they kind of do stand out over anything else right now in that category/weight, especially if you don't want to customize something to a certain spec.
      Enough has been said about the DR 98, but I can tell you that having played with it for the better part of a year, it lives up to the hype...

    After some time using the GrapheneXT Radicals MPs, I'm considering updating to the 2023 Auxetics. My radicals are customized since those old GrapheneXTs came out at 295g....so all in and with some lead they sit around 328g. That means my racquets are halfway between the Auxetic MP and PRO Radicals, at least in terms of static weight.
    I consider myself to be a good player and have strong technique....but on the other hand I'm 38y/o and I'm starting to find it hard to keep up on matches that go beyond the 1h20m...1h30m mark. Generating racquet head speed or maintaining strong footwork is difficult on demanding matches that go the distance.
    What would you suggest? I really prefer an uncustomized racquet since it keeps a better weight distribution and structural consistency. Unfortunately where I live, I dont get the chance to test both.
    Just to mention, I still have an old Liquidmetal Prestige MID (93sqin) that sits at 362g strung...and it feels so much better on my 2 handed backhand, although it takes a toll on the forehand after some time hitting with it.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад

      Completely understand what you're saying about consistency and weight distribution, especially with the Radical that is made to flex a certain way with it's non-constant beam. I would love to say go with the Pro, but it is a tough racket to swing especially over the course of a long match/session. The MP will be awesome and far more viable stock than the old 295 Radicals.
