- In this video i do some fabrication to make some add ons to allow a mole plough to be used to lay water pipe. A relatively simply job but still took some thinking about.

Hi Oliver, your channel is mandatory for me to view on a Sunday morning, and I have often thought that you should have a "Company" colour which you should use to paint your "Bespoke" engineering projects. And I am pretty sure that if I were clever enough to design and construct a piece of machinery such as this I would have my company name engraved or stamped on it in a very prominent position, this bit of kit is going to make someone's life a lot easier, and I would want everyone to know that Snowball Engineering made that possible.

What a super way to start a Sunday - with another great video from Snowball Engineering. Your design, problem-solving and fabrication skills are first class, together with being educational and instructive to watch, particularly with regard to CAD. I'm mindful of the amount of time you'll have spent editing this video; the quality of your videography, is at the very least, equal to Cutting Edge Engineering, where Kurtis' wife does all the filming and editing. I find your videos compulsive viewing - I never want them to end. Your latest post has been most interesting and an absolute delight to watch, Thank you for posting such superb content.

Hey mate love your work. A little tip I've picked up for edges with hoses or pipes running over them is to weld a bit of round bar along the edge, quick and easy 👌

You are becoming the person over there where people come to you and "can you make me something that will do ......" I have this over here (Australia) but I don't have the plasma gear and the ability to drive the software to draw up the items. The stuff I make is much smaller and simpler. Keep up your good work.

Quite a bit smaller than the arrangement that Dirt Perfect and MBTS made for laying 8" Drainage 'tile' in the USA, but then they didn't try and design a reel for it, they tow a trailer-mounted one behind a baby tractor! Well done Ollie, another imaginative solution well thought through.

Super wykonana robota , włożona wiedza i zaangażowanie dała oczekiwany efekt przy małym koszcie materiału i robocizny. W trakcie oglądania filmu nie bardzo wiedziałem jaki będzie końcowy efekt ale wyszło bardzo dobrze i praktycznie. Urządzenie może służyć do wielu prac : do drenażu gruntu lub ułożeniu rury zasilającej wodę. Super😀!
That was bloody good as usual Oliver mate, so much to enjoy. All the CAD all the CNC cutting, you designing and sorting out problems as they arise.. and even a bit of bodge mate when you fixed the hose. That was good, now looking forward to the next one...
Good job, you were right to add on the extra webbing to support the arm. Shock loading can be devastating and can easily deform, or even break the welds. Thoroughly enjoyed the post, many thanks. Stay safe and well 👍

Good job, you should check out the tile plough (that's what they call the pipe in the states, a bit bigger though) build on Dirt Perfect it's a monster for doser.

THE Jackson Brothers use a D11 to lay polly pipe (vlog128) in Australia.
Yes you're right @raymondmusarra1328, Mike and his friend Aaron his welder make and design and make the tools for his machines. He does a load of tile work and was using his excavators to dig the trenches needed before laying the pipes which could be 6 or 8 inches in diameter, the trench had to be refilled. So he bought an old military John Deere dozer and made a tile plough to be mounted on to it. He only has to dig a small length of trench so he can get the depth he needs then he begins to plough down the field.
Lately they have been making a tree lopper to get the clearance for the combine harvesters. The tile plough has saved him a lot of time because he doesn't have to go up and down the fields back filling after laying the tile.
DIRT PERFECT is his channel.
Tile plow is for laying tile pipe thats for water drainage, this is for water supply, tile plows can lay water pipe but they're not great for it

Nice job on the pipe reel. It should work well. I bet that worked out a lot cheaper than a bought one.
That new CNC plasma cutter does a nice job of cutting out different shapes. Way better and far more accurate than using an oxy torch to cut things out by hand.
This was a brilliant and stylized fabrication. It was great to see you create this interesting machine. You have left the possibility of changing pipe size open to the simple task of making a new shoe for the larger pipe as required.

I made a mini version about 30 years ago to plough in PA speaker cables for events that fitted on the back of my Land Rover. The cable was spooled onto Mig wire drums. Lovely Job Oliver.

Here we go again. You just surpassed all your other builds Ollie. This has turned that mole into a really useful pipelayer. As usual, you've added more than a little value to the whole machine through your engineering skill. I love the fillets you added they are the weakest point of the build as the torque on that piece will do a lot of damage otherwise. As for the talking, your a good Yorkshire lad and should be proud of how you speak! As always Ollie, I am so impressed with your work. You can tell you worked in Industrial environments with the way you think. 11 out of 10 for this project, don't worry about painting top coats on anything, as most people don't notice anyway, they just want it to work.

Looks like it's still pretty cold over there in the UK. Here in Queensland Australia, we're getting rainy weather again, but we did get a week without rain so I could finally cut the grass that was a foot high. Winter is slowly creeping on here, so you should get some warmer weather there soon.
We have been back down into the single digits last week. Plenty of rain still as well

Great video, new sub. Your channel was offered up after watching Cutting Edge Australia so the youtube algorithm sees you in heady company. One small suggestion, recycled conveyor belt makes good anti-chaff guides.
A little tip I saw on another channel some day: when you're grinding those small parts with an angle grinder, or even bigger parts, put a piece of old carpet on your table. The parts you're grinding won't slip on the carpet
Thanks for another great video mate. Your ingenuity and vision is nothing short of astounding. I'm just a home hobby metalworker in learning, so your videos are invaluable for tips on how to approach and do things. Watching you cut the holes in the box section for the axle to fit, hammered home just how much I really need to get my arse in gear and build a CNC plasma table. I've been playing with 3D Printers for a few years now so have a decent understanding of the robotic element, just need to get my head around the mechanics and build the chuffing thing 🙂

The tube chute is wider than the cutting blade, so it will have a lot of force on it as well as friction. So, it probably should have some sacrificial plates welded to the sides and maybe more mounting structure. Ideally, the chute should have been the width of the blade. Anyway, good work from Missouri USA. Also, I'm a fellow tea drinker, but mine has ice and sugar. Lol

Brilliant build, so clever yet so simple you would definitely recognise that plough in a field. You could always advertise the cost of exporting to the EU, that way they'll know upfront if they want to buy a hoodie or not. It looks like a quality piece, perhaps you could do some investigating and see what's available in the EU for the money they would pay, might find yours are worth the extra 11 euros.. 👍

In my work in telephone cable construction here in Canada, we used a similar but very robust piece of equipment called a cable plough to lay miles of heavy copper cable. The device was usually mounted on a Caterpillar D9 and the operation was supported by a fleet of vehicles to carry the giant wooden reels and dig in the places not plough-able.

The curl of the pipe is the opposite of how it will go through the foot. It seems to me that the front of the reel should be over the entry of the foot. Yes, it will make the whole thing longer, but that way the curl of the pipe matches the curve in the foot. It may cause feeding issues as it is. If the weight winds up being too much, he could tow a 2-wheel cable trailer. They are light an easy to maneuver, and with the pipe coming off the top it dives perfectly into the foot. - Love the videos. :^)

I used to do gas work we had a self-contained unit with the same kind of set up on it except there were 3 pipes at 3 different levels to put in the pipe trace wire and caution tape. Always look forward to Sunday morning video and coffee. Thanks for getting my hoodie out so fast. Can’t believe I had it in under a week

Nice design and fabrication Oliver . I’m retired and teaching myself to Tig and stick weld and also use Onshape so find your videos very helpful. Did try to weld some nuts onto a plate with a bolt in to locate them but ended up welding the bolts in too! They were small 6 mm ones so maybe not the right way to do it! That big bending machine is impressive!
