Nice video mate - I've subscribed and will look out for more when you post! Just getting into freediving for lobsters myself in Scotland after beach combing proving a bit fruitless. Any tips appreciated!
Thanks for the sub 👍🏼 For beach foraging try and pick the big spring tides as you’ll have most luck then. I also find nightime is best for foraging but obviously that comes with extra safety precautions. Freediving wise, it’s just a case of getting a good handful of marks so you have choice in most conditions 😉👍🏼
Enjoyed that. I’m hoping to do this at some point. Had 2 unsuccessful trips so far 😊. Think choosing the spot to will take experience. You looked about 10m there? Or so?
Thanks for watching and subscribing 👍🏼 the unsuccessful trips are certainly more common the the success ones 😂 but it’s all good experience and time in the water. The majority of these are near high tide at about 6m. I prefer diving the higher tides as there is less current at the bottom with a bit more water. Cheers
As a general rule you can’t take a female lobster that has eggs. Some females also have V notches and you can’t take those either. Landing size varies depending on location but normally it is around 87mm carapace so I would check the local laws first. The bigger lobster generally don’t taste as nice so personally I would stick around the 90cm carapace size to be above the limit/best taste 👍🏼
Brilliant video Ben, your content and productions are getting more and more interesting! Love the music, all very peaceful to watch!
Thank you, I am glad your are enjoying them. It is very peaceful underwater so j try and get the feeling across with the music 🙂
Good video. If fishermans did know about that spot- they will just drop some lobster pots and none would be left.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼 It could happen, luckily we have a healthy population of lobster here right now. However, always mindful on conservation.
Great video! Where can you learn to do this?
Thanks for watching! Where abouts are you based? There are a few instructors I can recommend but they are opposite ends of the country 😂
Great video dude. Thank you
Thanks Tom, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas 🎄 👍🏼
