I’m amazed how they have to recite “the call to attention” to a public that is not there anyways.
It may have been to the film crew
Maybe a guess, but I would figure that they would still recite as part of training (it appears one of the guards does not have the badge yet)
@@azndeadman93 yeah, I wouldnt be suprised if they do it every changing.
Im assuming .this maybe the time more junior guards are practicing too
Doesn’t matter if anyone is there or not, it’s a part of the changing, so they will always say it regardless
Secret military tech, masks that don't fog up the glasses.
Not hard if the right material is used
Damn where can I buy some
@@absurdturd5239 If it's a proper mask, it'll have the metal strip around the nose which provides a seal to the face so your glasses dont fog up
By The Divines my mask has that but my glasses fog up regardless
Trick is to clean your glasses with soap, for the next 5 hours there will be no fog.
I'm 59yrs old, never been in the service, dont Kno these guards. Never been to this tomb. But i sincerely have the utmost respect for this place, these guards. "Hallowed ground" is what this place is. God bless you & God bless America.
I’ve been there one time. Is has a very surreal feeling about. Very amazing sadness if you know what I mean. You should definitely go one day and check it out.
My fad served in the Old Guard at Ft McNair 1950-52. He said the tomb of the unknown, and the funeral guard were all sights to behold.
You definitely have to go once. It's an experience
If you’re in the DC area, Arlington National Cemetery is a place you have to visit.
If you ever get the chance to see the tomb and watch a change of guard ceremony please do! It's very humbling and amazing to watch these men and women perform

When I was in high school, we went to Washington D.C. for a class trip. I got to see this first hand. It was absolutely amazing. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it.
It's truly impactful the respect shown. You will not disrespect the dead. And these men will make sure of it
This is.so powerful
Same, it’s an amazing experience
I had the opportunity to witness the change of guard back in 1988, on a Summer's day. I was able to get close enough to see the previous guard being relieved and the sweat was just gushing down on him. Their discipline, dedication, endurance, most of all service. Words are beyond human understanding I am proud to have seen this event. As an American and human being.. INFINITE THANKS AND RESPECT for your services. ✊👍💪
These young men are the epitome of America! They choose to sacrifice for others. Others that they never met, nor ever will meet. The honor code is humbling for me. I could not be more proud for these young men. I wish they knew how much I support them and wish them well during the long hours they spend doing one of the most honorable mission our entire military has been charged with.
Carry on tomb guard!!!!😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It is crazy how perfect they are
It seriously is..
Dont you love how because they have been walkin in the same place over and over again the ground shows each step they take.
Right
You know im 56 years of age . This is one of those things that truly gets to my Heart. This never gets old.
I am not 56. But this does not get old.
Oh my gosh I just realized that the paths their walking are so worn in there a foot placements from years of walking that path. I thought it was a shadow from something. Blew me away. They take the same exact steps everyday. Wow.
Their steps are so uniform and precise that they are worn into the stone. The dark marks come from the metal in their shoes.
Woaaah cool ^-^
The fact that any other normal person would use these marks as guides to where to step next, but the sentinels could care less about the marks, probably not even looking at them, yet they can precisely take the correct strides to always step in the same spot
Think if we put this much thought and effort for our living veterans.
@@Fb6.Nan0 No.
cloverleafsippa713 yayyy :)
This effort and dignity is the only thing they can give to these Unknown Dead
Fuck you have some respect
@@firstname4291 What does that mean? I think you are saying fuck the living veterans, we shouldn't help them. In that case, you have some fucking respect. Is it ok to have homeless and suffering vets just so we can keep some old tradition?
Saw the changing for the first time in June '61.
Seen it every visit since.
Cry every single time.
Just like now.
Why do you cry ? Did you fight in the WW2 ?
Even when putting on sunglasses they do it with the same mechanical precision.
I saw the Tomb when I was a kid, I still remember it. I am 61 now. At my father in law's funeral we had the Army for the flag ceremony. My first thought was every scout should see this. The 2 were so sharp. You would think you were at the Tomb. A man and a woman. They were both cutting sharp! I looked at the mans hat, 2 finger at the front, and level with the ground.... so sharp...
Thank you all..... God bless you all.....
I love the sound of the heal clack from the boots

All I can ever say when I see these great people is wow, just wow.
This is so beautiful, even with no one they still pay respects 24/7 to the unknown soldiers.
Everything about this is just so shiny. The gun, the holster, the buttons, the visor, even the glasses. It all oozes perfection. Fantastic stuff!
God bless these guardian's of our fallen soldiers, always calling out for them like a lighthouse for the one's who were lost to find the way home..
Just think about this next time someone complains about wearing a mask.
@Eric N DC this time of year is hot and humid. The Old Guard are out there in masks and dress uniforms. Doing a very somber job. While wearing masks. That's the point I was trying to make.

Rain or shine snow hail freeze it's an honor that those men takes very very seriously, as we should all for the people that gave their lives for our freedom as American citizens !
Its very impressive, if not a bit funny to someone not from the USA the respect you people have for your vets. In my country there is no such thing as this. The millitary has much less cerimonial things such as this. But its nice to watch the soldiers dedication to their duty, even if it doesnt have a material pourpouse.

@@noahlmcd Villagers and kids with AKs did a number on your millitary, that is some childish thinking you've got. War has changed, could we fight the US fair and Square? The level of honor and commitment these men have to guarding the Tomb gives me goosebumps. What they represent means everything to me as an American.
This has got to be one of the hardest assignments in the military. Honorable but hard. No smiling or anything, no emotion at all. I know I couldn't do the job.
I think Mosul or Normandy would qualify as one of the hardest assignments in the military...
Dedication, Commitment. These are things that hold priceless value and respect. No materialistic value can match them. Thank you to those who served, are serving, and willing to serve in the future.
Have ALWAYS LOVED THIS...

This is always so cool to watch.
You soldiers are so awesome and thank you so much for your service. God Bless America and our armed forces.
Thank you gentlemen for your dedicated service!
That last view from the feet with the other sentinel in the background was beautifully done
Speaking of visiting Arlington National Cemetery...I have two relatives buried there. One is a cousin who was married to a career Army NCO. Another was a retired Marine Lt. Colonel who flew fighter jets in Vietnam and was shot down over the ocean ( not sure which one). Check out the videos about the Marine pallbearers - there are only four, not six.
I saw the changing of the guard right before the Cemetery closed for the day on December 12, 2018. The sun was setting, the Lincoln Memorial was all lit up and the Commander makes an announcement that the Tomb is now a restricted military zone and all must immediately leave the Cemetery.
I've got to see this over 24 years ago and I must say it is amazing to see a little bit of the inside of what's going on God-bless the USA
Thank you for your service

As a former 82nd jumpy boi, "America's Guard of Honor," and knowing a few dudes in the Old Guard, these guys are absolute heathens once they're off duty. And I wouldn't have it any other way. "Work hard, play harder."
Poop and wiping by the numbers.
Poop 1, 2
Nip one off 1, 2
Relax, and stand 3, 4

A solemn place in the army where a CPL has absolute, unquestioned authority and respect.
Blessings to our very professional Soldiers who serve as eternal Guards, Sentinels and dutifully protect The Tomb.
Too bad that corporal is the worse rank in the army, they all deserve to be Sergeants
@@joeyakathug5215 In part, that's why I chose my words carefully; CPLs aren't always shown 'hard stripe' respect as junior NCOs compared to SGTs.
For CPLs, it's normally a temporary step before all the requirements are completed for SGT and those Soldiers can actually 'pin on' (or Velcro) the higher, more accepted rank.
I can't agree with you more; they should just be SGTs.
CPLs should, minimally, be Acting SGTs. Most CPLs have completed most of, and are in the process of finishing, the requirements for SGT anyway.
It's been a long time since about 1900 that the Army had 'Lance Sergeants.' But that's a whole other topic.
In the British Army, some units still appoint Soldiers who earn Corporal as Lance Sergeants (who wear the rank of Sergeant, with minor insignia distinguishers to tell them apart from regular Sergeants, who have corporal and some sergeant level responsibilities).
Thanks for the comment!
@@fnln544 I mean I was joking with it, if any corporals out there, sorry that I offended but it's just what I heard that CPL being the worse rank for soldiers.

Sum1 correct me if I’m wrong here, but I thought they don’t wear ranks in order to not outrank the fallen.
Why is someone participating in the ceremony announcing rate and rank?
When you're guarding - walking the mat - you don't wear rank. You wear it when changing the guard. Rank and name are always included in the spiel.
Lord Narasimha you are correct, they don't wear any ranking when outside around the plots. It's that way because nobody knows the true identity of the deceased that was interred there , the military doesn't have any status on him or if he had a rank all they knew was that he gave up his own freedom to defend others , so because of his selfless bravery the men who are out there day after day never wear any pins or bars as to not out rank him or be behind him in rank It's done out of respect.
