Anmachen is the perfect example of my biggest struggle with German. I would never think to say "can you add electricity to the light?" or "can you apply electricity to the light" as a way to say "can you turn the light on?" It makes sense when you think about it, but I would probably have used the wrong verb here, like I do in so many other situations and my German sounds terrible because of it.
The idea is great and that was, such a pattern, was something I was curious since I began learning German. But frankly, I am not convinced that it really exists even after watching this video 😀 thanks though!

You have such a unique way of explaining things that makes the German language seem simple and easy to learn. You could also add fort- and dar- to your list, although they are less common. I understand there is a difference between ,losgehen‘ and ‚losfahren‘. Thank you for this very helpful video. My question is, how do you know when leave the prefix attached to the verb and when to separate the prefix and place it at the end of the sentence?
As always, great lesson on what is probably the most complicated topic to master for those struggling to learn German. One naive question, near the beginning and at the end of your presentation, there's a slide showing all 16 prefixes discussed in this lesson, and one of them is "heim", I didn't see this mentioned when each prefix was individually discussed. Instead, there is "hinein", that I don't see on the master-list, are these two prefixes the same or related? Thanks

But no they are not the same.
Heim is related to “home”.
