I have been teaching myself German for five years. I have been using books, programs, and videos. I have learned a lot. I can communicate. Not well because I never got the basics down well. Since finding you my understanding has moved light years ahead. Your explanations are perfect! I'm an older learner so retention is a problem but you bring it home.
Wow, me too, I learned German 4 months in class just to know how to read, spell, then in last 7 years, l learn it at home through the apps and youtube, I hardly can communicate because no chance but I think I can, this channel help me to speak confidently !!!
As a native portuguese speaker I used the verb "agradar" that in english means "to please" as a cognate to "gefallen" and the translations started to make way more sense 😄. Letting this comment here in case it helps anybody else. "Isso me agrada" "Das gefällt mir"
God bless you teacher, I was struggling with all these verbs mögen,möchten, gern etc... Thank you for making this video!!!! Lots of respect for you❤ German teacher....
I ver it now. I sepan Spanish, and now with your explanation Erklaren gefallen is more like, something is good or nice to you, then you express it like that. In Spanish you say “me cae bien”. Danke viel
I can't wait to get your reply however danke for your support now i can communicate with someone who speaks Deutsch maybe not as good as i want but with all lessons i got and still things will get better it's matter of time danke schön luzzi
Ich finde Ihr Deutschkurs sehr gut 😊 seit zwei Jahren habe ich Deutsch bei meinem Muttersprachlichen Chinesischlehrer gelernt. Aber ich finde Ihre Unterricht viel besser. 🙏
I really like your voice. I love listening to you in English and in german too. I am learning both languages because I enjoy it very much. Thanks for your lessons.
Mir gefällt vor allem die ausführliche Erläuterung zwischen mögen und gefallen. Obwohl ich seit vielen Jahren die deutsche Sprache gelernt habe, nie zuvor habe ich diese deutliche Erklärung gehört. Danke für dieses nützliches Video.
Wonderful explanation. Thank you very much! Because there has been a trend in learning a language through speaking and listening, the significance of learning grammar, I feel, has been somewhat degraded. But we need clarifications like yours in learning a language well.
Hi Luzi and friend, thank you for your videos, you are the best! May you please do videos on B1 and B2 exam preparations, I really understand better when you explain
Thank you very much for this sharing, which is definitely useful for German beginners like me. Your description of the difference of those seemed-similar words is very clear. I look forward to watching more video from you.
Hi Sir, how are you? I really like your way of teaching thank you soo much for your support to all German learners. I am preparing for exams based on your video tips. Now I am studying b1 level I can't find any sprechen, lesen, hören and schreiben teils in order to prepare. Could you please make videos of that. Thanking you Sir.

Hey Luzi. Firstly, thank you very much for all of your videos. They are just amazing. Secondly, is it grammerly correct to say something like "Gefällt mein neues T-Shirt mir?" Usually the object comes after the subject in a sentence. Thanks ❤
🙏😊 Correct, but in case of those special verbs like gefallen the object come usually before the subject: Gefällt dir mein neues T-Shirt? ✅ Gefällt mein neues T-Shirt dir? Would definitely be understandable but not common.
Wow, I'm American (US) but I had little problem understanding the sentence construction with gefallen with Das T-shirt gefällt mir. Why, because there is a very similar construction in French, Spanish, and from what I can tell in Italian (which I'm learning). Interestingly for me is that I also speak Portuguese another Romance language, but I don't think this construction exists in Portuguese. Finally my knowledge of some romance languages is helping me out in German. French: J'aime les pommes. = I like apples or Les pommes me plaisent.= I like apples or apples appeal to me. Note the construction is the same though we have some subtle differences in meaning. As usual, great explanations from YourGerman Teachers. If I might add, one of my biggest challenges with German is where one can place verbs / participles. Putting them at the end of long sentences just seems strange to me, but I'm getting used to it.
As an english thinking person, I thought of gefallen as "to please" as in: it pleases me. "To appeal to" makes more sense with dative, but it is a less common phrase than "It pleases me."
Hello! gefallen means to please; Diese Musik gefällt mir literally means "this music pleases me"; Gefällt dir mein neues T-shirt?= Does my new t-shirt please you? Those are not natural translations here the use of "like" is more common and natural. Excellent explanation I do like your work and the passion you teach with.
Perhaps a better analog in English for "gefallen" would be: "to suit". The sentence structure in English could match that in Deutsch if "to suit" is used. "Diese Musik gefaellt mir." could be translated as: "This music suits me.".

You should try using chatgpt. It’s like having a personal teacher you can ask literally anything.
The best German teacher on the internet. Thank you Luzi!

"Isso me agrada"

👍🙏
In Spanish we also use Me gusta , and it helps to understand the German structure better
Oha! Die Erklärung zum Unterschied zwischen “gefallen” und “mögen” macht total Sinn. Ich glaube, dass ich es endlich verstehe!

Your way of teaching is impressive and quick to understand. Thanks for such amazing work.

Finally I understand why I was confusing in verb and subject. Thanks alot.
Excellent explanation with very on point references! Actually "appeal" could be a cognate word to "gefallen" if you look at these two words closer.
🙏😊
Probably yes since both languages have the same “mother language”.
Ich mag diesen Kanal ❤ Ja, genau. Emotionale Verbindung! ❤

I am learning A2 on your channel. You are the best. From Kenya 🇰🇪

Herr! Vielen dank! You just put an end to my long running confusion!
Gefallen translates more to the verb to appeal to. Gern can translate to the verb to enjoy.
Great job putting gehören up there to explain how gefallen works. I guess "own" would be the inverse of "belongs to".
Danke für deine Hilfe. Ich mag dich. Ich finde dieses Video sehr gut.
