I just discovered I love learning German even though it’s so confusing with the nouns but your channel really helps and I will continue to use it as my study guide ❤Danke schön
As someone learning German, I was wondering how the heck German people remembered the gender of everything and I thought there has got to be some kind of pattern or either that they just learn them all from a small age as individual nouns and remember like we do the alphabet etc.. then I came across this video and so glad I did. You have made it far far easier to remember. Many thanks, will definitely be going through all your videos. Viel danke!!
Germans remember "the gender of everything" the same way all people remember the first letters of everything. I don't have to separately learn that "ord" starts with a "w"---that "w" is just part of its identity...
The rate at which people learn German depends on their effort. I find that watching your videos for a few minutes at a time helps me absorb and retain the information effectively. You are undoubtedly one of the most logical and clear teachers. Thank you!
as a non english speaker, i was already struggling to learn english as my third languange. i just found your channel a week ago and your teaching been improving my basic german grammar and vocabs so much, i still struggling with german even though i'm in A2 now but still... i have to learn and review a lot from what i've learned in A1. thank you sooo much!! your channel is amazing
Thank you so much for this! Im right around the cutoff between the A1 and A2 level at the moment and I struggle with the genders so much. Especially as a native English speaker, since for the most part we have no gendered nouns (we have a few occupational ones like waiter and waitress). Also I appreciate you not editing out any stumbles or mistakes (like when you said cinnamon before correcting yourself to say synonym). It makes me feel better knowing even at a very high level in a foreign language, people still make mistakes.
I love how you color the articles to match Germany's flag knowing the words gender is so important because I need them with akkusativ and dativ (grammar in general)
I've been using a popular app which sadly does not explain this frustrating part of the German language. Thanks for you explanation. I will watch more of your great videos!
You guys are just fantastic. I discovered your channel by accident a matter of days ago and have already made more progress than I've made in the last 2 years. Most German teaching facilities do it WRONG, they just waffle about irrelevant stuff. You guys do it RIGHT. You break it into separate channels of learning and concentrate on one at a time. German has a couple of dozen of these channels and you need, as a student, to get them straight in your head, then it all starts to come together. And you also teach the importance of getting the GRAMMAR right from the beginning! It really makes everything so much easier! Vielen dank! I will find your Patreon page and flow some $ to you. Alles gut!
Excellent. video! One more tip: When you learn a new word learn the article as part of the word. For example don't learn Wagen=car learn der Wagen=car. Saves you a lot of trouble later.
This is all standard stuff I learned in seventh grade. I wonder what teaching methods are in use today, hearing what a revelation this all is. Apparently, Luzi is filling a gap.
Thank you for your work, you have created many useful video lessons. I'm taking a German intensive course and it challenges everything that I've learned from English lol. Especially grammar points, we don't have much time in the classes so I have to search on my own for videos like yours to help me understand wth is going on with the verbs, the pronouns and so on.
Honestly so glad I found this channel. You guys seem very nice and supporting wish I had teachers like you over here but its good that you guys are uploading videos and helping people like me learn your beautiful language. Vielen Dank!
This is definitely the best explanation of the German articles EVER! I struggled at varsity to figure it out, many years ago. Now in a short video it has been simplified to such an easy way to approach German articles. Bravo!!!

Hallo again Luzi, I liked so much the way you grouped all the rules. There is another rule about alcoholic drinks. All of them are masculine in German: der Vodka, der Champagner, der Whisky, der Schnaps but there is an exception: das Bier. It would be so cool to have this rule too so that there will be 19 rules for masculine :) Danke fur alles :)
Very good video. I haven't lived in Germany in fourty years and my German has become very rusty. This video will certainly help me reset and converse with a close friend of mine who is a native German. Many thanks.
Of all of the videos and other lessons I have watched, your explanation of gender types for nouns is the most interesting and easy to understand way of identifying which gender to use. I especially like the summary in that 46% of German nouns are Feminine, and when in doubt, to use "die". Very nicely done and, as always, thank you for your instructions here! I definitely have a more clear use of gender for nouns now than before!
Danke! I am starting on this journey of a 5th language, and this one, I can tell it is going to be s challenge. Thank you for the video. Very, very helpful.
Wow! I just discovered your videos. FINALLY!!! a Deutsch video series that explains Deutsch in ways that a native English speaker will completely and easily understand!! And with translations of everything being said and explained. Literally, I feel like I wasted 4 years for what I could have learned from your videos in weeks or at most a few months. (I probably could have written this message in Deutsch if I had started your videos sooner 😅) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Engaging videos with clear, effective explanations to correlate and understand what I am learning and put everything in context - not just learning rules to learn rules. I started with your videos of things I thought I understood and just wanted to review, like "werden". When I saw how much I was learning that I had not been taught, I went back to some basics, like where to put "nicht" and it was like WOW! Seriously, why are simple but essential things like this not being taught? In four years of trying to learn Deutsch, I have learned that few Germans who are German instructors can teach or explain German to someone who is not German. My bad that I need to understand what I am learning. Until your videos, I was resolved that I would just "study for the test". I had begun to literally HATE this language. I taught myself to understand Italian and French in one year each. Then, I attempted to learn Deutsch. For Deutsch, even after completing the Cornelsen Grammatik book and an Intensive Course (A2-B1) with an instructor and a private tutor, I was still mostly guessing with writing and speaking. My brain would literally begin to shut down in frustration from the way the language was being taught. Nothing is fully explained. (In my IDS - Institut für deutsche Sprache course, one Instructor literally told me that I chose the wrong country (Deutschland) to try to live in. The other instructor told the class that we needed to find videos if we wanted to really learn more than just basic rules for Deutsch and to pass the B1 test. (Bitte???) I searched for videos. That only intensified my dread in learning Deutsch. So dull! So depressing! Or just plain corny and irritating - trying too hard to be cool or engaging.) I can't say enough how grateful I am for your work and the quality of your video content and instruction! I have already begun to spread the word. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Or perhaps I should say, vielen Dank! - K
Teacher ,may God bless 🙏🥰 you soo much , I will start my Aupair year next year so I am learning Germany language but word's gender is a barrier to me but your video is answer. I even checked in my Germany notebook and confirm that what you said to us , you're right 👍😊
Thanks a lot I think you have explained in the best possible way I can't remember if they taught us in our language classes when I learn German back in the 80s .You did a very good job .thanks
Excellent lesson. However, this is the biggest problem at the beginner level only. Declination (die Adjektivedeklination) and the verbs with prefixes ( Verben mit trennbaren/untrennbaren Vorsilben) are bigger problems than articles.
I REALLY HATE that all the "feminine names" such as mother, aunt are die BUT THE GIRL madchen is DAS!!!!! Sometimes it doesn't make any sense. But nvm. your way of explaining is very nice thank you
Yes as stated above, nouns which are turned into a diminutive, or cute, form I think are always 'das'. The ending -chen but I think there's another ending, 'lein' as in "Fräulein", if anyone can confirm?
The video seems not to be new, but for some reason it showed up in my feed just now, though I have been searching German tutorials since last year. And I must say this video is the best so far, better than a zillion of textbooks
So to all German teachers who I have suffered through.... Why in the F do you not teach this? This is by far THE most important thing for German learners. BY FAR! Thank you!!!!! YOUR GERMAN TEACHER.. FOR DOING THIS!
The lessen to recognizing the Noun gender in the German language is very difficult, but your lesson about the matter is useful. Your lesson will help me to properly put the Articles of Der, Die, and Das to the relevant noun properly. Recognition of nouns in the Grammar is basic for proper speaking, listening, and writing. The subject of Articles of Der, Die, and Das for nouns is very difficult for the foreigner who, recently migrated to Germany. Here we have to: 1. Learn the German language. 2. Find a job. 3. Find a house to live in dignity. Conclusion: Students struggling is very important to make practice and become Master. Thank you for productive Videos
This showed me the matrix in a well structure and easier to remember way, I even wanted to thank, but the minimum allowed is a bit high to be doing it more constantly to different videos, but Im definitely rewatching to help with views, and share it with other friends also struggling with this, so that’s my special support 🤭

Bitte gerne 😊
Hopefully you will enjoy the rest the same way.
Germans remember "the gender of everything" the same way all people remember the first letters of everything. I don't have to separately learn that "ord" starts with a "w"---that "w" is just part of its identity...
You’re the best teacher.
I like your teaching a lot.
I’m a beginner and you made me to have much interest in learning Deutsch
Thank you a bunch
Sehr gerne 😊
The rate at which people learn German depends on their effort. I find that watching your videos for a few minutes at a time helps me absorb and retain the information effectively. You are undoubtedly one of the most logical and clear teachers. Thank you!
I love the easy way you unfold the German language for non-native speakers. Thank you! 🙌💡
as a non english speaker, i was already struggling to learn english as my third languange. i just found your channel a week ago and your teaching been improving my basic german grammar and vocabs so much, i still struggling with german even though i'm in A2 now but still... i have to learn and review a lot from what i've learned in A1. thank you sooo much!! your channel is amazing

Deine Sendung gibt mir Hoffnung, weil sie bereitet neuen Weg um Deutsch zu lernen.
i am going to give a german exam diese Freitag and this vid is a life saver!
In one video you've taught better than my 10+ years of german studies in France. Many thanks, this is one of the hardest thing to understand
I'd like to take a moment to thank this kind man for saving my grade in German class I owe you my respect ✨🇩🇪
🙏😊 sehr gerne und danke auch
Part time/sometime German student for more than 50 years. Best discussion of die, der, das I ever ran across!
honestly learning from a native speaker like you , gives a better view of the language.

I love how you color the articles to match Germany's flag
knowing the words gender is so important because I need them with akkusativ and dativ (grammar in general)

I've been using a popular app which sadly does not explain this frustrating part of the German language. Thanks for you explanation. I will watch more of your great videos!
Glad it was helpful!
Alles gut!
🙏😊 vielen Dank
Excellent. video! One more tip: When you learn a new word learn the article as part of the word. For example don't learn Wagen=car learn der Wagen=car. Saves you a lot of trouble later.
👌😊
I have never heard this explained in such a way, this actually is a logical approach. Thank you so much
🙂👍🙏
This is all standard stuff I learned in seventh grade. I wonder what teaching methods are in use today, hearing what a revelation this all is. Apparently, Luzi is filling a gap.
I’m German learner and I’m in A1 by the moment. This lektion led me follow and being your daily student 👍👍👍🥳🥳🥳👍👏

I started to learn German in October with a private teacher. This channel is super useful.
Thanks! 😃
Danke schön😊. I am a Spanish speaker learning German. This was amazing.
👍💪💪💪 very welcome! Yes intensive courses can be very fast.

Wow. I just stumbled on to your channel on my home page. I’m trying to remember my high school German and have been looking for online resources.

Glad it was helpful!
This video was so well-structured, to the point and informative! Thanks a lot!

(I probably could have written this message in Deutsch if I had started your videos sooner 😅)
Thank you! Thank you!
Or just plain corny and irritating - trying too hard to be cool or engaging.)
I can't say enough how grateful I am for your work and the quality of your video content and instruction! I have already begun to spread the word.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Or perhaps I should say, vielen Dank!

Thanks a lot I think you have explained in the best possible way I can't remember if they taught us in our language classes when I learn German back in the 80s .You did a very good job .thanks
🙏😊
Excellent lesson. However, this is the biggest problem at the beginner level only. Declination (die Adjektivedeklination) and the verbs with prefixes ( Verben mit trennbaren/untrennbaren Vorsilben) are bigger problems than articles.
We have videos about this too 😉
I REALLY HATE that all the "feminine names" such as mother, aunt are die BUT THE GIRL madchen is DAS!!!!! Sometimes it doesn't make any sense. But nvm. your way of explaining is very nice thank you
All "cutiefied" nouns with ending -chen use "das" . Mädchen comes from the very old german word for woman = "Magd" . Magd ->Mä(g)dchen
Yes as stated above, nouns which are turned into a diminutive, or cute, form I think are always 'das'. The ending -chen but I think there's another ending, 'lein' as in "Fräulein", if anyone can confirm?
Ignore the last sentence, just got to the last part of the video...
Im confused because even the foods has genders
😂😂😂😂😂😂 u get it be killng me

Your teaching is soo simplified. Your are correct, the great obstacle in learning is to figure out die der and das.
I am personally a German student and I like your video very very much !😇😊
The lessen to recognizing the Noun gender in the German language is very difficult, but your lesson about the matter is useful. Here we have to:
1. Learn the German language.
2. Find a job.
3. Find a house to live in dignity.
Conclusion: Students struggling is very important to make practice and become Master.
Thank you for productive Videos
