I would put Whizzer at SFGA on that list. It's a ton of fun, has the wacky spiral lift hill, and some really awesome low to the ground moments. Height is 72'. Such a fun coaster. I haven't ridden it in a while, but when I was a kid it had seat belts that never quite felt tight so I always felt like it was trying to throw me out of the car.
Very happy to see Coaster from playland on there. My home park only has one good coaster but it’s a crazy one (minus that new relocated launch coaster)
Great video! Looked like a lot of fun coasters! If only Maverick was 1 foot shorter at 99 ft instead of 100 ft it would be a top coaster on here. I enjoyed watching!
Thunderbolt holds a special place on my coaster list since for a long time when I was little it was my favorite coaster ever and I still enjoy it a lot. It has a max height of 70ft. and a max drop of 90ft. according to rcdb. It's an amazing terrain coaster and just turned 100 this year, still pretty smooth and has some awesome lateral forces.
I loved Big Bad Wolf and miss it, but I do love Verbolten as well. I think it’s a worthy successor. Also, I think I’ve mentioned this before but my grandparents’ first date was riding the Coney Island Cyclone, so you could argue I owe my existence to that coaster.
Kennywood's perserverant Jackrabbit being overshadowed by Steel Curtain, Phantom's Revenge, and Thunderbolt should be here. Over 110 years standing, it might end up being a historical landmark when all is said and done.
Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. It's certainly been surpassed by Magnum among others but for a long time it was the coaster I rode the most by far. Obviously there are a lot better rides out there but you were asking for our favorites so there you go. Also, two Blue Streaks. The one at Cedar Point is really good actually, and I once got a ride where the restraint didn't latch so it was a bit wild. And the one at Conneaut Lake Park was that same kind of wild every time, you just never knew if it would hold together but somehow it always did. No rush quite like the "am I going to live through this ride" rush.
I am going to really miss the Blue Streak at Conneaut Park. Those first three hills and the shakey ride you got really was thrilling. As noted in its last days you always wondered would you make it back without it falling down. Too bad the new owner did not see the value in investing to secure its longer life. Since it was so far away from a major city that park needed a major coaster to attract bigger crowds. Of course it does not help that he destroyed so many other popular rides as well.
Finally-a top 20 with coasters my scared butt has ridden 😂 Guardians and Hagrids are fantastic. Everest is a rush, but the backwards section makes me a little too sick to be fun. I would add: -Tron at Magic Kingdom is 78 feet but hauls at 60 mph. Definitely the highlight of my trip in May. I also did a night ride on Big Thunder and it’s surprisingly intense when you can’t see where you’re going. -My home park is KY Kingdom, so gotta show some love to Thunder Run. -The Bat at Kings Island never gets old. -Dollywood’s Big Bear Mountain and FireChaser Express are family coasters but both give a heck of a ride. Just-a-bit-too-tall honorable mentions: Lightning Run, Thunderhead, TX Stingray, Mystic Timbers. Not sure how tall it is, but the bobsled mountain coaster at Mystic Mountain in Jamaica was great.
Good video idea! Here's my top 20 coasters under 100 ft (for the sake of their weirdness, mountain coasters aren't included): 20. InvadR 19. Backlot Stunt Coaster 18. Cobra's Curse 17. Racer 16. DarKoaster 15. Flight of Fear (KI/KD) 14. Galaxy Spin 13. Space Mountain (WDW) 12. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts 11. FireChaser Express 10. Raven 9. Lightning Racer 8. Verbolten 7. Revenge of the Mummy 6. Rock n' Roller Coaster 5. Ice Breaker 4. White Lightning 3. Mystery Mine 2. Copperhead Strike 1. Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure
The cutoff is just barely too low to let in Wicked Cyclone! Some of my short favorites, beginning with two defunct ones: - Big Bad Wolf (Busch Gardens Williamsburg). You knew it, you loved it. - Mr. Twister (Elitch Gardens). Just barely under the line! This was a wild ride. Nothing but a buzzbar holding you in while the coaster threatened to pitch you sideways into the void. These still live: - Untamed (Canobie Lake Park). Home-park fave. You can probably substitute any of the Gerstlauer Eurofighter 320/320+ rides here. 72-foot vertical lift, beyond vertical drop, three inversions. They're short, they kick a bit, they're fun. - Yankee Cannonball (Canobie Lake Park). About 65 feet tall. Not super intense, and it's probably less intense than it used to be, but I love how smooth it is for a coaster that dates back to the 1930s. - Thunderbolt (Six Flags New England). A 1940s reconstruction of a coaster model built for two 1939 expositions in New York and San Francisco. Has a good double down and a violent bunny hill in the last lap. - Roar-O-Saurus (Story Land). Wild, bucking, airtime-filled GG junior woodie. Only 40 feet tall, this is by far the shortest coaster on this list and it's one of the most intense ones. - And at Walt Disney World, both the East Coast Space Mountain and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are under the line.
I thought for sure that maverick from cedar point would be number 1, but then I checked the height and it’s 105 feet tall. I just assumed it wasn’t over 100 feet since it’s not tall but packs a punch.
I wish this ride got more attention, but its location is less than ideal. I can ride it all day, though! It's also only 96 feet tall with a 91 foot drop
I just rode Whizzer at Great America today. I'd forgotten how fun it was. If you do a list that is between 100 and 200 feet, I suggest Viper at Great America. I rode in the back row and was getting crazy diagonal airtime.
Taron is my favorite of the ones I’ve been on. FLY and Phoenix would round out my top 3. Coaster and Medusa are the 2 that I would like to get on. Each could potentially crack the top 3.
I'm glad that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is included. That ride is insane. I also enjoy Tron Lightcycle Run and Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios Hollywood) and both are 100 feet tall.
Hey Airtime Thrills, here is a video suggestion: Cobra vs. Cobra vs. Cobra. Also, you need to ride Oscar's Wacky Taxi. That is a great roller coaster under 100 feet.
How about Kennywood's Thunderbolt with a height of only 70ft with a final drop of 90ft. it uses the terrain to it's maximum advantage. It has such laterals, that you must have a parter to ride it. I think that its is worth at least an honorable mention.
From the ones I've ridden I would add: - Karacho - Tripsdrill - Hals-über-kopf - Tripsdrill - Big Thunder Mountain - Paris version - Wood Express - St. Paul Parc - Joris en de Draak - Efteling - Tonnere 2 Zeus - Parc Asterix - Pegase Express - Parc Asterix - Winjas (fear) - Phantasialand - Colorado Adventure - Phantasialand
A couple under 100 feet that I like are, Colossus the Fire Dragon at Lagoon. It’s a classic Schwarzkopf double loop coaster. It has a steep 85 foot swoop drop which causes it to reach 55 mph, and the two consecutive vertical loops are very forceful. My second noteworthy one is Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome at Circus Circus, Las Vegas. It is an Arrow Dynamics multi looper built entirely indoors. It goes up 95 feet and then drops into two vertical loops, and then hairpins into a double corkscrew. It then tunnels through the faux cliff formation several times.
Thanks for rating Phoenix at Kneoble’s as number one on your list. I have ridden many different coasters around the country and always still rate Phoenix as number one. To me it just has the right combination of speed and air time hills. Those last few small hills going back to the station pack a punch and having only buzz bar restraints only adds to the fun. I did ride some of the other coasters in this video and also agree they are nice also.
I’ll get to ride Phoenix this summer! Will see if Flying Turns is open for me. I know your luck on it is sad but maybe I’ll have better luck? I am showing up on a Saturday after all.
Tbh ALOT of my fav coasters are under 100 feet. I love short intense rides that cram elements in. Big ones are good but the elements are usually drawn to out
Great video! Somehow I thought that Zippin Pippin would take the whole thing. On the subject of ranking things that are smaller, I'd love to see your list of US parks that have the best coaster collections that are less than 10.
I took a ride its opening year and that hill surprised the hell out of me... I don't rank it top 10, but defintely top 25. It's a good Gravity Group ride...
Wasn't zippin Pippin the one that Elvis used to rent out all the time at Liberty Land when it was just called the Pippin? I love how you posted mind blower and I love that one cuz it's how I got my youngest to conquer his fear of inversions.😊 But I would also add White lightning because of how smooth it is
So happy to see Phoenix at #1. Finally got on my first ride there last summer (in my early 40s), and I'd seen many a POV of the ride and thought it was overrated. There was nothing that could have prepared me for the airtime and what those restraints DON'T do. I was laughing like a kid the whole time. Also a big fan of Guardians, Hagrid's, The Cyclone and Verbolten. Gotta get on some more!
I forgot Maverick is 105 ft. tall. For whatever reason, I thought it was only 95 ft. Also I'll make a case for Zambezi Zinger. I thought it has a nice bit of floater off the drop in the last row and the laterals in the zigzag section were fantastic.
❤I rode all three Woden coasters at Indiana Beach and agree The Cornball Express gives you a great ride. I liked them all and recommend you ride them all if you get to this park.
You should do a video on the best night rides overall manufacturesrs, rmc's too 10 night rides, top ten b&m hypers night rides, and top 7 giga night rides.
I feel like we have opposite tastes. I love laterals most followed by hangtime. Adventure Express is my number 2, so I gotta say that. And Steel Hawg is so good with that sweet hangtime and twists.
racer 75 at kings dominion and mine blower. if we're going to get nit picky then my true new favorite is thunder head at dollywood. if your ignore that itty bitty .4 extra on the 100 foot drop. got 18 rides over 2 days. 1st eight were from rows 6,3, and 1. the last 10 were rows 12-10. this is now my absolute new favorite wooden 1st drop.
Video idea: Ranking the 1, 2 punches of every Six Flags park, then Cedar Fair Park, then SeaWorld and Herschend, then Independent parks. - And - Another video idea: My top 20 least favorite coasters over 100 feet
Still a bargain compared to what most parks charge. With today’s costs I am surprised any park can charge such a low price especially since it’s free to enter and you only pay per ride. I never made it to that park but if I do I am sure I would ride it multiple times as well as ride as many other ride to help support the park.
Out of the ones I’ve ridden under 100ft, I have to put Swamp Fox, Wild One, and Jokers Jinx on my list. Comet was also a great choice for me as well, but I don’t know how it’s riding since they replaced the lapbars.
Wooden warrior is only 35 ft tall and is an airtime machine. Its length is short but you literally couldn't make it longer. Definitely would have a spot on my list.
Boardwalk Bullet is my favorite, followed closely by Zippin Pippin then Matugani & Copperhead Strike, all in my overall top 50. I've never ridden Coaster at Playland, but I also don't think much of Phoenix, which I think is # 12 on my sub-100ft list. I have Cyclops ranked ahead of Zeus. Big Bear Mountain & White Lightning (and not Mine Blower) are in my top 11 of this list.
I might be a bit weird for continuously singing the praises of Chessington World Of Adventures as a family park, but all 3 (as of last visit) coasters are under 100 feet and I still have great fun on them. - To put their all-round nature into perspective, Mandrill Mayhem is the first coaster at Chessington to feature an inversion. A B&M launched Wing coaster with a shuttle layout, this one's got a bit of everything. Reasonably forceful longitudinal Gs (especially off the boost through the station), positives through the helix stall, and hang time off the 2 stalls and the inline twist over the World Of Jumanji entrance. The very back row faces backwards for anyone who feels like they'd rather the initial launch be forwards from their point of view. - Dragon's Fury is a fairly typical Maurer spinning mouse, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. You get some nice pops of ejector airtime on the various post-block-brake drops, and the vertical hairpin is a great way to kick off the ride. - Vampire is approaching 40, and despite the fact it's definitely showing its age (arguably not helped by the 2001/02 replacement of the old Arrow trains with Vekoma hang-n-bangs), the flight through the forest still manages to be a good time. The front row is a lot of fun if you're a fan of longitudinal Gs as you get rammed through the post-drop turns.
My personal addition to the list: The Comet at Six Flags The Great Escape (Queensbury, NY) 94 feet tall, and it is the best the best roller coaster at The Great Escape.
I know I’ve watched too much airtime thrills when you said “tallest, fastest, longest” and I instinctively followed that up with “best paced”
Rank ‘em up
And rank them up based on prime ride time
These are all the ________, by the numbers. "Intro plays"
If only the ride time and pacing on these are in fact top-notch. 🤣

Lol
All of the CGA coasters being just a little over 100 feet feel the same

The batclones too

Amazing!
Can attest that the big three at Phantasialand are amazing! Taron is number one for me and a night ride is a must!
Almost everything at Phantasialand is amazing-the rapids, the flume, the dark rides, the coasters, the food and the hotels!
I wasn’t expecting biting satire in this video, but here I am.
This was a great video idea. Proof that you can do a lot with a little. Also I think cornball is an incredibly underrated woodie, glad you enjoy it.

Hi there! Early to see your new cool video!
The cutoff is just barely too low to let in Wicked Cyclone!
Some of my short favorites, beginning with two defunct ones:
- Big Bad Wolf (Busch Gardens Williamsburg). You knew it, you loved it.
- Mr. Twister (Elitch Gardens). Just barely under the line! This was a wild ride. Nothing but a buzzbar holding you in while the coaster threatened to pitch you sideways into the void.
These still live:

You should rank every coaster that opened in 2000
I can’t believe that guy predicted this video.
He really did
Yup That Was Me 😂
prowler just barely avoiding this list with its 102 foot height is tragic. what a stellar ride
American Thunder runs the chain lift faster during Fright Fest, and hauls
No one gonna mention how Matugani's logo looks directly copied from Diamondback at Kings Island?
another hit!
As a Texan, it’s good to see one of our’s in the honorable mention and top 20. Besides that, haven’t been on any of the others.
I want to give an honorable mention to maverick at cedar point but its 105ft tall
Can you do most land locked parks, and rank them by how little room they have to expand
Another international contender should be medusa steel coaster. Its the shortest rmc at 98’ but it still packs a punch.
My personal addition to the list:
The Comet at Six Flags The Great Escape (Queensbury, NY)
94 feet tall, and it is the best the best roller coaster at The Great Escape.
I'm surprised Comet at Six Flags Great Escape didn't make the cut! Great layout, great forces, and great history.
Definitely in the mix but missed the cut. I dont have a lot of sub 100 footers high on my list but a bunch in the 100-200 range
